Hello, Yankees universe, and welcome back to your go-to channel, New York Yankees News Network. I’m your host, and today we have three jam-packed updates about our Bronx Bombers that have just surfaced or come to our notice just a few hours ago. So, if you are a true Yankees fan, you do not want to miss these updates. And yes, before we start the video, I request you if you are new to the channel, then do not forget to like and subscribe and hit that notification bell so that you can stay in the loop with all the freshest and most engaging Yankees news. So, let’s dive into today’s first major update. Update one, the right-handed solution. Yankees insider drops major hint on 9-year veterans return to New York. All right, let us dive right into our first electrifying update, which focuses on a player who became a fan favorite almost instantly after his arrival at the trade deadline, the 9-year veteran utility man, Ahmed Rosario. Now, the overall buzz this off season has been about the Yankees need to shore up a few key roster spots. We know they need more reliable middle relievers. They have to figure out the depth chart at catcher. And crucially, they need at least one infielder who can counterbalance the platoon splits and flatout rake against left-handed pitching. This need, folks, is what makes a potential new deal for Rosario make a ton of sense for the Yankees. On Sunday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman himself acknowledged at the winter meetings that the team is currently overly dependent on left-handed bats. That is a huge comment and it prompted SNY Yankees insider Andy Martino to immediately declare that the odds of New York bringing back Rosario might be quite good. Martino explicitly stated on X, and I quote, “In light of Brian Kman’s comments yesterday about Yankees being too left-handed, I see a solid chance that the team brings back Ahmed Rosario.” And here is where it gets really interesting. Martino suggested Rosario could be a right-handed first base compliment to Ben Rice, who is a left-handed hitter. Think about that. Rosario potentially splitting time at first base, among other positions. Remember what Rosario did for us in a short time? After arriving in a deadline deal with the Washington Nationals, he batted an impressive 303 that is with a 788 on base plus slugging OPS in just his 16 regular season games for the Yankees. In the playoffs, he went 3 for 10, including the runbatted in RBI single that opened the scoring in the Yankees crucial four to zero win over the Boston Red Sox in the sudden death game of the best of three wildcard series. The man delivers in big moments. Rosario has versatility that Cashman loves. While he may not profile as an above average defender anywhere, he can feasibly man any infield position and could even take over right field in an emergency scenario, especially with that short porch in Yankee Stadium. The veteran himself, who is a 9-year veteran, likely knows he is best served as a platoon player now, as his OPS against right-handed pitchers this season was just 614. So, the logic of him being a right-handed bat to smash lefties in New York just makes perfect sense for both sides. Martino also pointed out that there probably will not be a ton of updates surrounding Rosario’s free agency. We might just see a sudden notification pop up that he is signed somewhere. And let us hope that somewhere is right back here in the Bronx. This is a massive development, Yankees fans. Addressing a key offensive weakness identified by our general manager himself. Update two. Aaron Boone’s clear unmistakable message to Cody Bellinger amid free agency frenzy. Yankees are all in on the former MVP. Yankees nation, let us be clear, the New York Yankees want Cody Bellinger back, and they want him back badly. But with other big market teams also in the hunt for the star outfielder, this free agent could very well sign a deal elsewhere. As the winter meetings kicked off in Orlando, Florida on Monday, Yankees manager Aaron Boon stepped up and sent an absolutely clear message to Bellinger. This was more than just polite manager speak. This was a heartfelt plea to a player who transformed the team in his single season in pinstripes. Boone told reporters, and this is crucial, and I quote, “Obviously, what Cody brought to us last year in so many ways, who he was in the room, his performance between the lines on both sides of the ball, his athleticism, his versatility. Who would not want a player like that?” Boon went on to acknowledge that Bellinger has earned the right to get to this point in his career, free agency, as a still relatively young man. Boon’s respect for the player and the person speaks volumes about the incredible impact Bellinger had on the Bronx Bombers. He is truly a good one. We know the Yankees have made ressigning Bellinger their top priority this winter. The outfielder is widely projected to sign with a big market team, but the competition is fierce. That report indicates that National League teams like the Philadelphia Phillies and the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are also seriously in on the 30-year-old slugger. Yankees fans will remember that Bellinger spent the first six seasons of his career with the Dodgers, where he earned all-star honors in 2017 and 2019. He even earned the 2019 National League Most Valuable Player NL MVP award in Los Angeles, accumulating an astronomical 8.7 bubir that season. But flash forward to 2025, and the outfielder took massive advantage of the short porch in Yankee Stadium, logging an incredible 909 OPS at home. That kind of production is irreplaceable in that ballpark. While Bellinger’s agent Scott Boras has indicated that the outfielder would welcome a return to Los Angeles, the Yankees are still considered a favorite to land the former MVP. The winter meetings are expected to be as crazy as ever. And the big question for Cashman and the Yankees is just how far will the storied franchise go financially to bring back Bellinger? Every Yankees fan is hoping they go all the way. This is a high stakes maximum leverage situation and it is clear that the players and manager Aaron Boone want him back. Update three, massive trade rumor surfacing. Could the Yankees really target this all-star shortstop as an Anthony Vulp replacement? Let us talk about shortstop. Last season, the New York Yankees stuck by Anthony Vulp despite a shoulder injury, some defensive woes, and continued struggles offensively. He is currently recovering from offseason surgery and could potentially miss some time at the start of the year. Now, before we continue, let me be clear. Nothing the Yankees have said indicates they are looking to move on from Vulp at this time, but general manager Brian Kman has to be doing his due diligence. And if a clear upgrade with long-term club control is available, it might be extremely difficult for him not to pull the trigger. And that brings us to the latest blockbuster rumor. According to the athletics Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal, the Washington Nationals are reportedly open to conversations on trading their talented all-star shortstop CJ Abrams. The Nationals might be looking towards their future, aiming to get a hall that pays off down the line, given they have already traded for one top prospect this winter. Abrams is a massive young talent. Last season, he slashed.257.315.433 with 19 home runs. He was an all-star in 2024 and most importantly is under club control through 2028. He is exactly the kind of young star who could thrive on a contender like the Yankees. And here is the kicker for our Bronx Bombers. Abrams could find great success at Yankee Stadium. Why? Well, Nationals Park, where he currently plays, is a below average venue for left-handed hitters to hit home runs over the last 3 years. Meanwhile, Yankee Stadium clocks in as the fifth best venue in all of Major League Baseball for left-handed hitters to hit homers, according to Baseball Savant. This move would instantly give Abrams a massive power boost. Defensively, we need to be honest. Abrams is not a great shortstop, but neither was Vulpey last season. The Yankees are a team that values defense, but they might be willing to deal with a slight defensive downgrade or a neutral move if they can get a substantial offensive upgrade over Vulpi. Now, the reality check, it would take a massive offer to pry Abrams away from the Nationals. A deal for Abrams remains unlikely as teams may be unwilling to meet the high asking price. However, the off season is always full of surprises. And with our division rival, the Toronto Blue Jays, staying aggressive after a trip to the World Series, the Yankees may be eager to make a big move that instantly makes them better. This is the kind of rumor that makes the winter meetings appointment viewing Yankees fans. Wow, what a day for the New York Yankees. The hot stove is officially blazing. Yankees universe. Let me know in the comments right now which move do you want to see happen the most? Do you want Bellinger back or would you rather see Cman pivot and make a massive trade for Abrams?
