It’s nice to have a defenceman we got for free improve things a bit on the back end. Basically going from 13 minutes a game to 23.

  1. Rielly – Tanev

    McCabe – Stecher

    OEL – Carlo

This looks promising once everyone is healthy

  2. Crazy how good he’s been tbh. I thought he was an upgrade but didn’t expect this.

  3. McCabe is playing so much better with Stecher

Shout out to Troy tonight for being so aggressive with the puck and getting it out of the zone when we got hemmed single handedly

Also he saved two goals lol 😂

  4. Dude has been clutch every time theres a fire sale in front of our net…. Wonder where he learned that.

    Thanks Edmonton!

  5. This is an indictment on Treliving’s work as GM if a waiver pickup is trusted with a greater workload than his signings.

  6. Stetcher has some foot speed that was sorely needed. He has capable hands and thinks the game decent enough. He made his first big blunder tonight when he dropped passed it in the O zone and it lead to a turn over but he hustled back and was set a lot faster than I thought he was going to be.

He needs to keep it simple. But he’s been such a solid pickup.

  7. He may be undersized, but a puck moving, right handed, defensively solid guy and he was free. Yes please.

  8. He basically has no competition as a RHD offensive D here, while in Edmonton he competed with the best D in the league at strictly offence in Bouchard and a sunk cost fallacy in Nurse.

Even if Villeneuve comes up, if Stetcher is still here, his job is pretty much guaranteed

  9. I can’t say I paid much attention to Stecher’s game before arriving in Toronto. After watching him play, I can’t believe he hit waivers. Thanks Edmonton

  10. I love his demeanour on the ice. Always serious. Always focused. Two hands on the stick. I could be wrong but I get the impression that he knows how good of an opportunity this is for him and is very determined to make the most of it.

  11. Come playoff time, having Stecher and Benoit as extras would be an insane amount of depth for this blue line. I still would like to add a puck mover but if the price is too much I don’t mind having Benny and Stecher splitting time.

  12. Safe to say he’s earned a full time role here even when Carlo and Tanev both return.

  13. Stetcher has been a solid defenseman since his Canucks days yet gets perpetually underrated every year.
