Rich Eisen Weighs in on Shedeur Sanders’ Historic 4-TD Game vs Titans | The Rich Eisen Show

Guess what happened? When? Yesterday in Cleveland, Ohio. Oh, Shador Sanders got better. A little bit. Yeah. Everybody makes fun of him saying, “Just look what happens if I get more time. Don’t just know me in the middle of a game. Give me some time. See what we can do for a week. Give me a week.” He, you know, obviously folks had their fun because he said, “Could you imagine what this will look like with a full off season?” That’s what he said after his first win. Yeah. Oh my gosh. But hey, got to love the Moxy. Guess what he’s doing. Confidence right there. Guess what Shadore is doing. He’s giving his team a chance to win. Unbelievable, man. He scores 29. And the defense against Tennessee can’t do a darn thing to stop him. I mean, this defense that has been lights out against so many other opponents. San Francisco being one that just leaps to mind recently. They didn’t win, but boy, uh, the Browns watch Shadore come up with careerhighs and completions. 23 passing yards, 364 passing touchdowns, three rushing yards, 29, and a rushing touchdown. Do you know who is the last and only other rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era to have a game with 350 or more passing yards? three or more passing touchdowns or rushing touchdowns in a single game. His name is Joe Burrow. Just took a handful of starts before Shador put up a stat line that only other only other person is Joe Burrow to put one up in the Super Bowl era. Of course, he’s the only quarterback to lose a game with that stat line this year. Would you believe you want to know the list of Browns quarterbacks who have had 300 or more 350 or more pass yards, three passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown in a game? You want to know the list? Well, we got to flip through the book cuz there’s like 80 of them. Uh, good good bit. You know what the bid is? Me doing my bit. He’s the first. No one’s ever done it. This the Browns 1.0 and 2.0. How about this one? the only other quarterback this decade to have four or more completions of 50 or more yards in his first three career starts, Aaron Rogers. I even misread that stat. It’s the century. Not this decade. I was like, wait a second. Century. Okay. and the other starts playing the slow sports center theme because I just did I just made a mistake. Let me just repeat myself. Shador has done something that no Browns quarterback has ever done. And in terms of this century, only Rogers has done. And in terms of Super Bowl era in rookie quarterbacks, only Joe Burrow has ever done. Joe Burrow. All right. Yeah, Rich. But but hold on. And I’m serious when I say this. You know what the best part about it is? They lost because they maintain a top five pick. Well, I mean, you get them better. They already have, you know, two first rounders also. Well, the Jaguars pick is getting better. Unbel He threw a dot to Harold Fannon to lead a comeback of two scores down to give the Browns a shot of having to go for a two-point conversion to tie because they went for a two-point conversion before. For the life of me, my goodness, that doesn’t make sense to me. I never get it. Every single analyst or analytics person in my life will explain to me, well, you want to go for two as early as possible so you know how many points you need. Or you just keep kicking extra points and go to overtime. How does that sound? Or if you want to win it at the end, you can go for two. Go for two. Well, you don’t want to do that because you don’t have any time left in which to make up for that mistake. Unless you need to make up for the mistake you just made by going for two in the first place. That was so infuriating, man. We’ll understand it. Nope. And we’re I never understand it. No matter how many times analytics people will sit me down and explain it to me. It’s dumb. I will never understand it. I’m an old school guy. Kick extra points until you don’t have to. Do you have to or you must have to. Yeah, you got to get Oh my god. At any rate, they have to go for two. And they take Shador off the field and they do some dipsydoo stuff with Quinn Sean Judkins who’s clearly uh um didn’t run the play as intended. after the game. Stfansky was asked about that supposed to have happened on that last two-point conversion. Yeah, not going to get into all the specifics, Jeff, but obviously did not uh go as we thought it would. Did you make that call or did Tommy Yeah, I make every call. I make every call. Had a hot hand. Why would you take him off? Yeah, it’s again, it’s a two-point play. Uh didn’t come through on our first two-point play. Got to the second two-point play. We didn’t come through, but that’s it’s on me. It’s on me. I would honestly not to tell him how to do his job, although Browns fans certainly would like me to. Um, two-time coach of the year and a frequent guest of this program, wouldn’t you want to see what Shador looks like in this? He was rolling, man. He’s rolling. You play the hot hand. And if you saw after the touchdown, they they they took a shot of Sedor and he’s walking and he’s pointing at himself. And I’m sure some people thought he was like pointing himself like, “Yeah, it’s me.” He was like, “Am I coming out?” And that’s what it was. And this is what he had to say afterwards. Did you wish you had the ball in your hand in that moment to tie the game? If if I’m out there any play, you know, I would wish I would always have the ball in my hand. But that’s not what football is. Sometimes you got to run the ball. Sometimes you got to kick a field goal. You know, everything I like that’s the game. That’s the game. That’s the most important thing is the ball. So, in any situation, of course, you would want to, but um I know we practiced something and and and we executed it in practice and we just didn’t seem to this day. So, I would never um I would never go against, you know, kind of like what the call was or anything. It just seems every instance since since he’s he’s been the starter, he’s been put in a position in front of the microphone where he’s either asked point blank something to contradict his coach’s beliefs in him or um play calls play calls or set up to help him succeed. Every single situation has either been point blank asked of him or in this situation, the football gods place a legit question in front of him through the media saying, “Are you upset to be taken off the field?” And he answered it, knocked it out of the park. Each time he’s knocked out of the park, whether he’s turning to somebody saying, “Oh, you’re just trying to start trouble, huh?” Or, “Hey, everybody wants the ball, but we practiced it.” He could have easily been, “Why would you take me out in the same way you did?” And it would be just he’s making it about himself. Oh, his dad’s making videos of him coming to the game and hugging his son up before the game. It’s only about the Sanders. Every single time he is nailed it when put in a position by either the media or the football gods to second guessess his coach or the setup around him or whether they want him or not. Well, these numbers certainly support him being the start of the rest of the season. And guess what was announced in the last hour? Shador Sanders your starter now for the rest of the season. Yes. Huzzah. I mean I understand why they started Joe Flacco, right? But we I mean at least I think we knew this was going to happen. Look sir, all I know is we’ve hoped it and it’s now happening. So, we get to see him next at Chicago, home for Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and at Cincinnati. Woo, that’s fun. I want to see him now. I want to see him now. We went to see him all the all along. You bet. Where’s our internet auntie from Virginia? Let’s get her calling back in to end hour number two and get ready for hour three. You know what I mean? Let’s go at Chicago. Caleb v Shadore. What if he goes in to Soldier Field? Do you think it name me where he shocks and he wins one? Give me Give it to me. None. Oh, best case scenario. Give me one. Uh, the Bengals. Uh, best case scenario, Pittsburgh at home. I think he could beat they going to go against Caleb Josh Allen, Aaron Rogers, and Joe Burrow the rest of the way. Bears go. I think I think the rivalry, the Bears, I think that one he could pull. I don’t know. Home against Pittsburgh. Crazy things happen when you when you when they have division games at home. Ask Burrow. I mean, in theory, the Let’s go. None of those teams would really I mean, no, Chicago, right? Every single one of those teams should beat the Cleveland Browns. The Tennessee Titans just did, right, in Cleveland. Not a great look, but Shador is going to go against Caleb with the Bears in the mix. Best case to put up some big stats is Buffalo and Cincinnati. Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, you know, a matchup of uh the only two quarterbacks this century to have four completions of 50 yards or more in their first three starts. Think about how much further he’d be if week five he got to start and now look. He probably wasn’t ready. That’s true, too. No, you got you got to you you can’t you can’t extrapolate it out like they should have gone to him sooner. He might not have been ready. Let me let me probably wasn’t even ready when he got in there. That’s a That’s a very nuanced response out of you. Normally, you’d be like, “Absolutely. They should be fired.” Well, I mean, what’s going on? Can’t do that all the time. Okay. What? Can’t do that. You’re switching it up, huh? Yeah. He can’t do that all the time. Who is this? It’s a Monday, too. It’s an overreaction Monday. No, but that’s that that is entirely true. I mean, there is a segment tomorrow where I could do it, I guess. Dude, something a Browns quarterback’s never done, something only Burrow has done, and something only Rogers has done. And the Rogers one is this century, and the Burrow thing is in the Super Bowl era, and the Browns thing is for all time. That’s awesome. Let’s go. I get it. It doesn’t matter. We need to see it. And we’re seeing it, and it’s awesome. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. Don’t get it twisted! 😊Call it what it is! Shedeur DID NOT LOOSE this game. STINKfanski intentionally loose this game. He did not want Shedeur to shine and win under his watch. Shedeur won!

  2. Rich, if I’m not mistaken you recently stated that Stefanski would be a good hire for the NY Giants. As a Giants fan (so am I) how could you say that? With what has been transpiring during this season in Cleveland, this guy is not right. That’s putting it kindly.

  3. I’m 29 and lifetime browns fan and I don’t think anyone’s thinking it’s all about the “sanders family” but as a fan of one of the worst teams in sports, why shouldn’t it be about the sanders family? They know how to win, they present themselves well. They’re natural leaders. I don’t get the gripe with them at all. Because they wear chains? So does 95% of the skill positions in football so what’s the issue? I don’t get it

  4. This is part of the problem. Let the young man grow. We throw all these expectations. When the bad game comes. And they do. For all Qbs. We turn on them amd call them a bust. He is doing good. Great. Keep pushing and stfu….

  5. Don’t worry. In typical Browns fashion, they’ll get rid of Shadeur and draft someone this year in the first round who will end up a bust. Meanwhile Shadeur will go somewhere else and ball out.

  6. Calm down Rich ,,,, It was against the 1-11 Titans and his long completions were YAC receptions ,,, I'm not hating, I'm just saying – calm down ,,,

  7. I can’t stand his glazers but he looks really good. This will sound crazy to some but I think his upside is higher than Caleb Williams. He’s just more poised overall.

  8. Congrats to Shadeur on his big win in this game. Oh wait….. (He's gonna be decent, but no need to be crowning him just yet!). Also, no-one mentioning that Shadeur unfortunately fumbled the ball on the first 2pt conversion.

  9. He would have more touchdowns if the coach can FINALLY STOP running the wildcat in the red zone like this is college football! 3 games straight with this bs like pro NFL teams don’t see this a mile away

  10. When Sanders dropped so far in the draft I said there will come a day when all the teams that passed on him will wonder what they were thinking at the time! Does anyone remember the nay-sayers after the Browns drafted him? This man is going to have a great career, barring injury.

  11. Maybe The Browns want to make him look as good as possible to get as much as possible for him because Shedeur doesn't want to be a Brown long term. The narrative from his camp seems to suggest as much anyway. He looks to move at the first opportunity. Question is, will any other team want him?

  12. That boy nice, man! Point blank. We all saw what he did with that o-line in Colorado. What do you think he's going to do with a good O-line? Endless possibilities! He's comin!
