Chicago Cubs linked to Tatsuya Imai AGAIN at Winter Meetings
The Cubs are reportedly making a “very serious push” for Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai — widely regarded as one of this winter’s top free-agent starters — as they look to bolster their rotation.
Imai, coming off a dominant 2025 season in NPB (1.92 ERA, elite strikeout rate, triple-digit fastball), checks several boxes for a team seeking swing-and-miss stuff and front-end arm potential.
Reports also say the Cubs are still interested in another high end reliever. Robert Suarez was a name mentioned.
In today’s Winter Meetings recap, Cody and Blake react to the very quiet first day in Orlando.

The cubs are a joke.. your boy wasted his time and money traveling down there. Jeds in the dumpster looking for his '26 team. But I do respect and enjoy your channel.
We got to a number one starter and bullpen help and power hitter and a great bench ❤🎉😊
