Braves SIGN James Karinchak to Minor League Deal

The Atlanta Braves add some depth to their bullpen, signing a reliever James Keranchek to a minor league deal. Jake Mastriani here from Locked on Braves. And the bullpen’s become the top priority for me this off season with the news of Joe Jimenez. And James Kerichek gives them a guy that’s been really good in the past. A career 3.10 RA and a little over 160 innings at the big league level. Unfortunately, he hasn’t pitched at the big league level since 2023, dealing with injuries, most notably a shoulder issue. Even was dropped by the White Socks last year. So, that doesn’t give you a ton of hope. But, when he was good, really good fast ball, really good knuckle curve that got a ton of swinging miss on it. The Braves are hoping that if healthy, he can regain some of that. This is a a lowrisk, you know, high reward type of deal obviously on a minor league contract like this for the Atlanta Braves. So, some good depth now for the bullpen.

The Atlanta Braves added some more depth to the bullpen on Monday at the MLB Winter Meetings signing reliever James Karinchak to a minor league deal. The former Cleveland reliever has a career 3.10 ERA in the big leagues, but hasn’t pitched at that level for two years due to shoulder issues.

  1. Shoulder injuries seem to derail more careers than anything now for pitchers. I still like this signing from a depth perspective. Hope he can find his form again.
