Lots of alumni were hoisting the trophy overhead for photos and celebration but I noticed that Rod wouldn’t touch it. I feel that he wanted to keep his distance because he had his moment in ‘06 and he will only lift it if (when) the Canes take the cup while he is coach.

He has not won it as a coach yet; he won’t touch it until the Canes win it with him as the head coach.
He’s still striving for the cup
It’s bad luck to lift the cup if you haven’t won it. He’s a coach now not a player. He probably doesn’t even want to be in the same room.
He knows the superstition. He’s no longer the player he once was, he’s the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. He knows that touching it is considered bad juju for his team until he’s won one as a coach.
I love RBA with every fiber in my body. I picked up hockey a few years ago but have watched football and baseball my whole life, and can think of very few coaches that are like him.
Good Roddy
He was the first to touch it & raise it over his sweaty head the last time it was in the house
