Skubal was never going to re-sign a contract with us. It makes no sense in the MLB for a premier free agent to re-sign with their current club before going to FA where there are no limits and always someone willing to pay.

With there being a strong possibility of an MLB lockout for the 2027 season, I would imagine Boras and Skubal want a deal done ASAP. Harris has leverage here.
Obviously Skubal & Boras want the big contract – but I am getting the impression that they want the Tigers to show some interest in giving them that money right now. Everything that he’s saying sounds extension-motivated.
