Scott Boras comments on Skubal:

  1. I don’t trust Boras, but maybe they would listen to a big extension? That isn’t how Boras usually works.

If he means “we’ll listen–if you want to give us $100 million a year” then it’s worthless.

  2. Yeah. Listen and don’t respond. Boras is a loser who refuses to negotiate in good faith.

  3. This man is a cancer on baseball. I’ll never forgive him for taking Scherzer away from me

  4. they might be goofy, but he’s got some bars

also that “listening” statement.. is he just parroting Scott Harris?

  5. Skubal was never going to re-sign a contract with us. It makes no sense in the MLB for a premier free agent to re-sign with their current club before going to FA where there are no limits and always someone willing to pay.

  6. He just said it. He’s only there to listen. As soon as we say anything serious, he’s just going to get on the phone with NY, LA, etc and negotiate it with them.

It’s a catch 22 for Harris. You can’t make a real offer because you’re just going to get leveraged, but you’ll get roasted by the media for not seriously negotiating.

  7. Time to trade him. This saga is starting to get dumb and Scott/Chris are cheap. The only downside is I don’t trust Scott to get the correct return back.

  8. Skubal guaranteed that he wouldn’t be staying with the Tigers when he picked Boras. I don’t fault him for wanting top dollar but he will not be staying with the Tigers after this year. It is what it is.

  9. With there being a strong possibility of an MLB lockout for the 2027 season, I would imagine Boras and Skubal want a deal done ASAP. Harris has leverage here.

  10. Obviously Skubal & Boras want the big contract – but I am getting the impression that they want the Tigers to show some interest in giving them that money right now. Everything that he’s saying sounds extension-motivated.

  11. We are going to live to see Verlander in the hall wearing an Astros cap, Scherzer in a Nationals cap, and Skubal in a Dodgers cap.

  12. “We’re listening, so we can take any offers to LA or NY or anyone else to set the starting bid next year” is what he’s really saying

  13. Avila was great at not making decisions. Waiting long enough to always miss the boat. Harris needs to deal with this. His job is to work with agents, even the Boras’ of the world. He needs to be more proactive and not let agents lead the dance. Want Skubal around? Lock him up. Want to move him? Pull the trigger.

  14. Did this mf really hit us with a Scooby doo themed riddle? He deserves whatever his client gets him, because my goodness

  15. That first quote makes me think that Boras would demand an extremely unrealistic contract from the Tigers because they are a “mystery machine”
    without him

  16. Just deal Skubal so we can all stop dealing with this assclown. Tigers should’ve learned their lesson with Boras after the Scherzer debacle…Skubal is not worth the money and any team paying him what he is asking for is going to be regretting it 5 years down the line.

Anyone hiring Boras as their agent makes it patently clear they do not care about anything other than money, and that is someone you don’t want anywhere near your clubhouse.
