I love the Chiefs but am I the only one that does not want them making the playoffs?
At this point of the season, we know who they are as a team. I would rather have a head start on the offseason with a great draft pick. They’ve played 26 playoff games since Mahomes took over. That’s a whole season and a half. They need a break to get better for next year.

If they can make the play offs. They have a legit shot at winning it. Hitting their stride late in the season, other teams faltering. And the top teams all look beatable. Patriots, broncos and rams.
If we can make the playoffs I want us to be in the playoffs. That’s the goal, and with Mahomes who knows what kind of upset we might be able to pull on the road.
That said, I’m well on my way to making peace with the high likelihood of us not being in the playoffs.
Well then, I’ll get right on the horn and tell that building full of Super Bowl winners and future HoFers to shelve their pride and take a dive for the next month so they can move up 7 draft spots.
My singular desire for making the playoffs would be the opportunity to once again ruin the Bills season for sheer comedy.
I want the higher draft pick but it isn’t going to be as high as people think it is. Worst case we go 2-2. We aren’t losing to the Titans or the Raiders.
I mean, it’s probably a moot point, but I like watching the Chiefs in January more than I like watching other teams in January.
And we aren’t getting a “great” draft pick. We’re getting 15-ish. Teams miss with 15 all the time and Veach has had some misses with higher picks.
People said the say shit when we got smacked by the raiders on Christmas and then we went on to win the Super Bowl. With that said I don’t think we’ll make it anyway.
I’m firm in my opinion that anyone rooting for a better draft pick should go root for the Arizona Cardinals or the Raiders. If you ever want the team to lose, you’re a bullshit fan. That’s not our culture. We are a championship level franchise.
Losing on purpose or rooting for losses isn’t a ‘sacrifice for a better future’. It’s setting the future on fire. It’s a relenting of your culture, letting everyone in the building know that losing is now OK. Life, business or football, once you accept less and losing becomes ok, then it’s easier for everyone to quit and give up next time too. You never lay down your culture.
You aren’t alone. We need a legit pass rush, and outside of spending a bajillion dollars in cap space we don’t have, a top 20 draft pick is the only way to get one.
I hope we lose the next game, get mathematically eliminated, and then start playing the young players that have been on the bench most of the season. Let’s find out what the coaches have been hiding. Figure out what will do going forward, and what needs replaced.
I just think it would be good for Patrick to make the playoffs every year of his career. I don’t expect much even if we do make it.
Tell me you haven’t watched Mahomes and his pride and competitive spirit…just go back and watch his TT days… And tell me dude is just going to admit defeat… Without leaving it all on the field.
I don’t understand how 5 extra weeks will do so much good when they already have 5 1/2 months until training camp starts if they play in the SB. It’s all a moot point given the odds of making the playoffs but the theory of extra rest doing them good doesn’t make much sense to me.
If you, as a fan, are rooting for draft position more than wins… Your priorities are all wrong. Especially with this team. If your the jets sure fine whatever. But this is the chiefs come on.
At this point we are getting a mid round pick, right now that’d be about 14th, and if we make the playoffs and get 1-and-done’d probably ~20-22, or an amazing story for a playoff run. I can’t imagine that a difference of 8 picks will make that much of a difference? And as frustrating as this season has been I’d still rather be watching chiefs football into mid-late January. And hey, if the defense we got to start the second half against Houston shows up in the playoffs we can smother about anyone and if we can find a rhythm on offense like we’ve shown spurts of this season (ravens, lions, raiders) we can win a shoot out with anyone too.
I mean…. anything can happen once a team makes the playoffs. I don’t actually THINK we’d do anything particularly impressive in the playoffs if we did get in, but there’s no real reason to not want to at least try
That’s crazy. I definitely want them to make the playoffs because if they do, they are capable of winning it all.
I don’t see them making the playoffs.
Are we really so horny for a mid draft pick that we’d suggest throwing a game to the fucking Raiders?!
Some of you … Are seriously okay with us openly tanking for what would still be a mid round first pick? That’s a lot different than resting your starters last game of the season because you have your seed already locked up..
You legit want an entire team that was in the Superbowl last year, yo just quiet… Because shit didn’t go as planned?
Cheap tickets 🎟️ hell yeah I’m goin to the chargers game
Miss the playoffs, get a decent draft pick, blow it up and start over.
I know we suck this year… and I know we are going to miss the playoffs…. But….
Get Mahomes in the playoffs and I think we have as good a chance as anyone in the AFC to win it all. The team has just been killing itself all season. A few clean games would be enough to breeze through the AFC.
I’m a major homer though. And I know we are not making the playoffs, so it’s a moot point. But the answer is definitely hope for the playoffs if there is the slightest chance, and give Mahomes a chance to show what he is made of yet again.
Even in the 2-14 year I wanted them to win every game. The idea of being okay with losing, especially with Mahomes, is wild to me
Wanting them to make it not make the playoffs is meaningless. Chiefs aren’t making the playoffs this year. Hopefully in the offseason they get rid of Nagy and some good draft picks.
if we tank the season then we’re a loser organization with a loser culture and a loser locker room. This is how loser teams stay losers for years and years.
I’d like to beat our division opponents but still miss the playoffs at this point
This team is perfectly capable of going 7-10 without trying to tank.
That said, we definitely should be letting some of the young guys get more reps.
You are not alone, I am here with you
It’s a logical opinion. Tanking the rest of the season would get us better draft position. You are not alone in having that opinion.
However, if there is still a chance to make it to the playoffs, throwing in the towel now would be foolish and wrong.
IF (big IF) the stars did align and we did make the wildcard game, then consider the whole season a reset, to where anything can happen.
I believe this team is better than the last 2 on offense. I think if we stick with quick passes, don’t run at stupid times, and STOP letting Mahomes drop back for long-developing plays, we CAN BEAT ANYONE. This quick pass strategy will also help our O-line get through it’s injuries, nearly eliminate holding penalties, greatly reduce sacks taken, keep our offense in rhythm, and control the clock. I’m telling you guys… if we stick to the quick passes, we can beat any team, turning a playoff run into a SB run.
tldr: If we have a heartbeat (not mathematically eliminated), then we keep trying to win. Once we are knocked out with no possibility of making the wildcard game, THEN we think about tanking.
This is a poor take. We want them to make the playoffs. I don’t think too many AFC teams are better than them. Also keep in mind that this will be kelce’s last season most likely.
At this point I’ve accepted the fact that the Chiefs will miss the playoffs. But if somehow against all odds they were to make it through, you can bet I’d believe they can go all the way.
Fuck that. Let’s go on a run baby!!
There’s like a 5% chance we make it even winning out now. At best we finish 10-7 we’d get like the 15-18th pick in the draft. Much better than 31-32 like the past 3 seasons.
The difference in draft pick would be pretty minimal at this point. Even if they lose out they probably wouldn’t get a top 10 pick.
The most likely path for the Playoffs is Chiefs win out, and Chargers lose out, or go 1-3 and bananas can’t beat Denver.
I’d only want to make it so we can get the 7 seed and go into Denver and whoop those clowns in the wild card. Like that would literally be the next best thing this year outside of a Super Bowl
I would love for them to make the playoffs, but with how they’ve played this year it would be 1 and done. But I don’t logically see them making the playoffs anyway.
This year is the year somebody steals a chip because nobody is very good in the league period. Anyone can lose on any day, legitimately. So all any team has to do is claw their way i to the playoffs and get hot.
You motherfuckers act like picking a 21 year old 7 spots ahead of another team will change the entire next season. What if the teams ahead of us are all interested in QB, OT, and Center? It’s not that black and white
You play to win, if this team can get hot there is enough talent on the roster (still) to win the SB. Offense is gonna have to click though. Like click click.
They need a break. It might be different if they had made the playoffs and had a few years of earlier exits, but they’ve been minimum in AFCCG non-stop. Not complaining at al, but it does take a toll. The Org needs a soft reset and missing the playoffs might be what they need. to do that.
Based on how many of these posts and comments the sub Reddit gets, it’s not a very unpopular opinion, even if it’s a bad one.
Playoffs ended officially after last night
Great draft pick so Veach can butcher it like he’s butchered everything else?
Im gonna get hate for this but there is good evidence that shows what’s happening with the chiefs right now is the same as what happened at the end of Reid’s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles. Stale and predictable Offense, nepotism in the coaching ranks, poor draft and free agent decisions ( can be placed on Veach as well). I don’t believe Reid had quote “lost the locker room” but that eventually happened in Philadelphia. Reid is an offensive genius but these are some serious faults that have followed him as a coach no matter where he’s been. Anybody that thinks you shouldn’t move on from a Head Coach after they won a Superbowl is an idiot. The eagles fired there head coach two years after winning a Superbowl becausa there was serious issues with the team. And you know what? They got better immediately. In this league you adapt or die.
I can understand the sentiment I guess, but as long as we have the fortune to have Mahomes, fuck that noise.
