[Hayes] In reversal, Twins signal a desire for roster additions rather than a teardown

  1. Yeah, and I have a desire for Angela White. “Desire” doesn’t necessarily mean fulfillment.

  2. Posturing for the fans and for potential trading partners.

Nothing has happened over the past month to make this team a contender.

  3. I think they are stupid

    Gleeman thinks they are stupid

    Bonnes thinks they are stupid

Ken Rosenthal thinks they are stupid

AJ Pierzynski thinks they are stupid

Even Dan Hayes on Foul Territory yesterday *politely* thinks they are stupid

We were at a 57 win pace post deadline. We need 85 to be competiting for the division/wildcard.

2 relievers and a power bat with ~£15m to play with doesnt give you nearly 30 wins

This is a 70ish win team depending on health

“Oh but players will improve” like who? Who has improved in the last 3 years?

“Oh but we have a strong farm” – nobody from our farm has produced a 3 war season in YEARS. I mean jesus the FO has quite literally never produced an all star out of our farm (Rooker was the only AS they have ever drafted…go figure)

  4. Even if this were true it would just make the teardown from last season that much more stupid. Sure, dump Correa’s contract, but they removed so many pieces for absolutely no reason. This is not an intelligently run baseball team.

  5. Lame attempt to fool people into buying tickets, empty target field. this season should break another franchise low for attendance and i hope it does by miles.

no way will you convince me this investment firm has any desire to invest anything beyond the minimum to keep their investment afloat and turn a profit. actually contend and build a legit roster? hell no. they are simply content to waste buxton’s career and ryan/lopez before they finally walk. why all three have not formally demanded trades yet is beyond me, although i still suspect at least ryan has made one but its still hush hush.

i still do believe 100% there will be more salary dumps, this is all smoke and mirror. remember when we were told there would be no sell off? remember when we were told build us a stadium and we’ll build a contender? the lies go on and on, the only cure is that family being gone 100%.

god help any free agent who wants more than to cash a small check that signs with them.

  6. Okay fine. I guess I can consider forgiveness if Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette join the lineup.

  7. I think the MLB told them they had to field a full roster and couldn’t just grab a few town ballers out of the stands every game and pay them in beer and dollar dogs

  8. This organization is run by complete idiots. Seriously.

Even a teardown is incomplete and half-assed. Just commit to the plan and stick with it. You don’t reverse course mid-way because that’s a recipe for an even bigger disaster with even longer term negative consequences.

  9. I’ll believe it when they add meaningful pieces, IE pieces that even casual fans can readily recognize.

  10. $110 million payroll instead of $100 million, while the league average is now like $180 million? 👀👀 Super Bowl, homeboy!

  11. This is Falvey saying “my desire”. It’s to give him cover when it inevitably goes to shit.

  12. I’m sure this is a baseball decision and has nothing to do with the Twins finally announcing a new limited stakeholder

  13. So then why did they toss a fucking grenade into their bullpen?

Someone save us from this ownership group I can’t take it anymore

  14. It’s more a rebound, I doubt we get close to the payroll we had before that fire sale last summer. Correa had to go. A lot of the rest? Idk.

  15. I mean they probably will need to add someone. We need at least 10 players unless we are going to let the pitch hit. I say we just do it little league style where the left fielder is our setup man and closer is shortstop. Each player can pitch. I mean it’s not like we are trying to win. Might as well make it entertaining.

  16. This is nothing but a hollow attempt ro reframe the bad press surrounding this team. Of course they were going to be buyers (in the smallest way possible): they decimated their bullpen last fall. No way in hell they walk into this season with this collection of misfit toys. This isn’t serious news and all this does, imo, is highlight which media outlets are carrying water for the Pohlads.

  17. “Signal”, yeah ok. The only signal that matters is spending money on good players.

  18. Hey ownership. I was wondering if you could do me a small favor and sell the team. Think you could make that happen?

  19. It’s been 3 days, we were due for a 180. Looking forward to Friday’s news that the Twins will refocus on their core and ask their AAA guys to step up.
