Clears a 40 man spot the day before the Rule 5 draft. Cardinals left Blaze Jordan unprotected didn’t they? How funny would that be?
I remember hearing that he didn’t get some kids an autograph for something like them not saying please. Bye Vaughn
The Chris Sale trade doesn’t get enough heat for being one of the worst ever. Even at the time, I thought it was bad, and it’s kept looking worse and worse ever since. They dumped Sale at the absolute nadir of his value, making themselves worse in the present without banking any significant future potential — unless you believed in Grissom’s potential, even though he’d looked mediocre to bad, depending on how deeply you looked, in his MLB playing time so far.
Sure, they couldn’t *know* Sale would go on to have a Cy Young season, but they knew that was the upside. Sure he was expensive and injury prone… but then they turned around and signed old, injury-prone Giolito to a pricey deal to replace him. Which I guess makes sense if you thought Giolito and Sale were on par and Grissom was something. Unfortunately, neither of those things was close to true.
