Don’t sleep on Trevor Lawrence – Booger McFarland on Jaguars beat Colts 36-19 to take atop AFC South

And look, he knows it’s Achilles right away. Booger. Boom. Players always know. You can watch right there when that leg gives out just a little bit. Uh players know and you can watch him pound his helmet. That’s because he knows the inevitable. One of the stories of the season has been his play and Jonathan Taylor’s play, but he’s gone. And now Riley Leonard is the former Notre Dame quarterback. He the Duke quarterback. He is in and Taylor fights for extra yards. But guess what? Opportunistic Jags defense. Eric Murray does the punching. Giant Jones recovers. Yeah. And coaches tell you never to reach that ball because bad things happen. Well, Jags have done this all year. Travis ETN. What a big year for him. Healthy and he looks the part. 28 yd touchdown. 21-7. The Jags doing it to the Colts again who are now of course without Daniel Jones. 15 seconds before half. 21-10 Jacksonville. Lawrence rolling. Tim Patrick. You score at the end of the half, it’s almost a dagger when you’re up 28-10. No doubt about it. How about Trevor Lawrence throwing a dime right on the goal line. 3113 early fourth quarter. Leonard where number 15. That’s Earl Moral’s own number. Maybe it’s good thing for the Colts. Well, a double catch here. Newsome. I could have swore Michael Pitman caught the ball, but somehow someway tie goes to the runner. That’s what I thought. Greg Newsome is able to intercept with the Jags and another turnover. And now Leonard, uhoh, Josh Hines Allen, first Jag safety in 2018. And Hines Allen and Trayvon Walker, the two ends for Jacksonville are playing at an extremely high level. So the J and there’s Daniel Jones out. He knows. And uh Trevor Lawrence, they beat the Colts again and emphatically, but we saw whatever change. 3619 the Colts win this one and so they are the team excuse me the the Jags win this one they are the ones who’ve won four in a row they are the ones who are nine and four the Colts have lost four of five fallen to eight and five and it looks like and coaching knows it they may be without their quarterback for quite a while Daniel Jones has an Achilles um could be season ending I don’t have the full details on it um but we’ll get more clarity on that a tough situation to be in when your starting quarterback goes down with an Achilles. Um you know, I thought the guys did a good job in the locker room though, rallying around Riley um going into the second half. Uh but anytime you lose a guy um that puts in so much work and so much effort and is always there for his team and is showing up with a fibula injury and goes out there and freaking plays. Um just so much respect for him. Just so much respect. That’s I mean that’s on a lot of counts. He been one of the really wonderful stories of the year. We don’t know. Remember, this is only Sunday when we’re doing this show, but an Achilles is Achilles. And nine times out of 10, it’s not great news. Him and Jonathan Taylor spurred the Colts on to one of the great stories of the first twothirds of the season. Now it looks like new quarterback. Yeah. But we don’t know, but when you see the quarterback pounding the helmet on the ground, players know he he understands what’s going on with his body. And you hate to see it for the coach because to your point, it’s been one of the best stories of the football season. Now, what do they do? Riley Leonard, rookie quarterback. I’m not sure what he can give you. You’re going to have to lean on Jonathan Taylor. The running game is has got to become a vital part of what they do. It’s going to be tough for this team that started off with so many expectations and everybody in Indianapolis, they went all in. Remember, they traded two picks for Sauce Gardner, right? Who’s hurt. This was the year and he’s hurt. And so now the future of this team becomes a little bit muddled. But this season, they’re going to have to rally around Jonathan Taylor and try to help Riley Leonard out. Well, and Richardson is still hurt, a different injury, so we don’t know where that’s going to be. So, it looks like Riley Leonard is it. And the Colts, who have had a great start, they finish with the following. At Seattle will be no picnic. Home to San Francisco will be no picnic. Home to the Jags, they have to win that. And then at Houston, in other words, every one of these teams as we speak, a winning record. Rough. It It’s going to be a tough way to finish for them. But this is professional football. You got to show up and you got to go out and play. And and I think the thing that you look at if you’re if you’re if you’re the coach, you got to figure out what you do. The defense has got to step up. Buckner has been out also, they got a lot of guys out. They got to figure out who they can get healthy for this last stretch of the season. Listen, the Jags started out great. I mean, you know, they were forcing three turnovers or four turnovers every game, which they had three on this day. So, they’re back to what helped them get to a wonderful start. They beat the Chiefs. They beat the Niners. Then a lull. But the Jags have won four in a row. and they’re in first place. This team, they’ve won four in a row. They won four games all of last year. And and it’s really simple. When you make the move to change the head coach, you’re looking to help the quarterback. Liam Cohen has changed the way Trevor Lawrence is playing. We’ve been waiting on this generational talent to step up. You’re starting to see it. Boom. ETN starting to run the football. The offense looks explosive. Let’s just see how far it can go because we’ve seen what Liam Coin can do with Baker Mayfield. Now he’s got a more talented player in Trevor Lawrence. and you’re starting to see the pieces come together. I’m excited to see where Trevor Lawrence and the Jags can go. Well, while we weren’t sure Jags Colts would be a game for first place, we weren’t kind of sure that whenever Pittsburgh played Baltimore for the first time, which is week 14, they end the year against each other. And if you didn’t need firing up, why wouldn’t you want Ray Lewis and the 20 rather the 2000 Ravens Super Bowl champs who had four shutouts that year to get you fired up. But 42y old Aaron Rogers says, “I don’t care. This is my time.” Pittsburgh leads it 73 in the big crab cake. After the first quarter, Chris Boswell makes like almost every kick that he attempts. It’s a 32 y, but a flag on the play. Travis Jones tipping the snapper. They called unnecessary rough. Yeah, you can’t touch the snapper. Boom. You know, we’re trying to protect everybody now. Well, you think John Harbaugh liked the ball. He’s a former special team coach. He knows that. And so the Steelers take points off the board. They keep the ball and Kenneth Gainwell uh they had trouble running the ball, but not on this play. 173 Steelers in Baltimore just before half. Third and goal. Lamar. So this is when you thought even though they’re down 17-9, his first rushing touchdown since week one. Wow. That’s one. Yeah. What? Now early third pitch to Katon Mitchell. Well, while they bottle up Henry who almost had 100 yards, but it took him 25 carries. Katon Mitchell 55 yds. So there’s speed run for the Ravens now. Midway through the third. Their third and goal. And Lamar’s going to No, it’s likely he will throw to Isaiah. likely his first touchdown pass since week 10. But maybe maybe 20 to 16 Steelers. How about that? Looked like vintage Aaron Rogers. The flip to Calvin Austin. The first time in a while we’ve seen that on the money. Yep. And then he continued with this third and four. How about this to Jaylen Warren. This is why they got Aaron Rogers as good as he look. I know they beat New England in in September, but 2716 Steelers. Four and a half to go in the game. Fourth and five. Jackson Z. Well, December showers brings Z Flowers. The Ravens stay alive. Harbaugh squad under three to go. Now watch this. Isaiah likely one, two, two and a half, two and three quarter. Yay. I mean catch football move. Well, I’m not really sure what else we’re looking for here. They called it an incomplete pass. Me and John Harra, I I I honestly don’t get it. Well, the Joey Porter knocked it out first. They called touchdown, then they called incomplete and fourth and five to Andrews in the end zone who just got the big contract. It’s incomplete. Patrick Queen played Ravens, of course, coming up big for Steelers. Yeah. Really good coverage there on the tight end. And if you’ve been hurting him, exactly. If if you’re the Ravens, you got to wonder why the offense is still sputtering. Patrick Queen. He was laying out on the on the floor if you will for a few minutes. Came back. But now Ravens not done. Tic tac. 30 seconds to go. That’s the fake Mark Andrew. Charlie Kohler from Jackson. Then 9 seconds to go. Alex Heismith. The two veterans. Lamar can’t get away from the two veterans. How many times have they played against each other that those trio? Millions. Ah. Kiss first place alone. Coach Tomlin. He and John Harbaugh coached against each other for the 39th time. Only George How against Curley Lambo have coached against each other more. And the Steelers by winning, they’re back in first place by their lonesome John Harbaugh. Even though the Ravens weren’t flagged a lot, there were a lot of calls that may be the wrong place at the wrong time. I I tell them basically we’re not we’re not we don’t make any excuses. We don’t point any fingers. That’s not what we do here. We never have. We walk out of here with our our chest out and our chin up, you know, and and we look to the next game, you know. We we are fighting still for everything that we want to accomplish, you know. So, it’s been it’s tough. It’s been a tough challenging road for sure, but uh that’s where we’re at, you know, and we will keep fighting and and we believe we can get it done. you know, we knew what was on the line today and um that’s why you go do business with a guy like Aaron for thick days like today. Um he’s been there, done that guy. Um but beyond the experience component of it, he relishes it. Uh you can just tell. Um and and that’s the benefit of having a guy like AR. Wow. Ravens.

  1. The Jags would have beat the Colts just as bad with Jones. I hope Daniel Jones has a speedy recovery and comes back just as good as was this season….
