Can San Jose Sharks OUTPLAY Flyers? Celebrini & Smith Set to SHINE in Crucial Showdown!

You’re Locked on Sharks, your daily podcast on the San Jose Sharks, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. Hello, welcome to Locked on Sharks, the premier hockey podcast covering your favorite team in the Bay Area. My name is JD Young, caretaker at the Reef, also the co-host of Locked on NHL. I want to thank you for making the Locked On Sharks your first listen, proudly part of the Locked On Network, the number one sports podcast network where we cover your team every day. If you want to be an everyday, all you have to do is just follow along wherever you get podcast. And of course, you can watch on YouTube as well. And we’re going to get you ready for tonight’s Sharks Flyers game as the Sharks, I guess this afternoon’s Sharks Flyers game. Uh as the Sharks head to Philadelphia for their one matchup uh of the season in Philly, uh we’re going to look at how these two teams match up, how this Flyer team is kind of improved this year compared to last year. uh as well as what to watch for in this game. So, uh let’s get started by looking at how these two teams match up. Uh the Philadelphia Flyers are uh I think a little bit surprising. 159 and three. Your Sharks 1413 and three. Uh the Sharks are at 2.83 goals for per game, which is 22nd. Goals allowed 3.27 23rd. The Flyers 2.81 goals for 24th, but the defense uh 2.85 goals all around, 11th best in the NHL. Uh power plays uh for the Sharks 19.1 which is 14th. And then for the Flyers, 18.4, uh which is 20th in the NHL. Uh the PK 80% for the Sharks, 22nd. 81.4 13th for the Flyers. Celibbrini of course leads in goals with 15 uh 28 assists and 43 points. Uh Forester leads with 10 goals and then Ziggress has 16 um points or 16 assists and 26 points. Uh so he’s been a big big uh you know part of the Flyers uh jump this season. For the Flyers, they are ninth when it comes to point percentage in the NHL and fourth in their division. Um, and this is a team that’s kind of middle of the board when it comes to everything. Uh, expected goals for goals for, uh, right around the average. Uh, expected goals allowed. Um, and goals against, again, kind of in in the middle section there. Uh, the power play is, you know, not as, you know, it’s kind of in the lower end, kind of in that lower tier or bottom third. Um but their goalending I think has been one of the big reasons for the Flyers uh having the success that they’ve had so far this season. Um for the Flyers uh Mitchkov uh Cotier and Tippet on the top line, Ziggress, D’vorick and Kknney on the second line, uh Grebnick, Kates and Brink on the third and old friend Carl Grundstrom uh Abbles and Hathway on the fourth line. uh Steer Sanheim um Andre Ddale and uh Merchesen Julison as your defensive pairs with Fadar and Arison. Um for your San Jose Sharks a little bit of changes here. So Graphelini Smith of course Equin Wenberg to Foley Goddet Dandria Kersev on the third line with Goodrochuk and Reeves. So looks like Jeff Skinner will be out for tonight’s game or Olaf Ligrin, Ferraro, Clingberg, Dickinson, Ley. Ligrin is a game time decision. If he is out, Mukuman will slide in. And then Nadelovic is getting in the back to uh start again. Uh Ascarov is ill. uh he’s okay to back up, but uh assume unless the like something happens to Nadelovic like injury-wise. Um he’s probably going to be in this game and they’re going to have Ascrov just kind of be the backup tonight. So we know of course the Sharks still kind of dealing with the uh what a bug going around the locker room and it looks like Ascarov is the latest victim of it. So uh what to watch for in this game. So, this Flyers team, you know, was uh just like the Sharks, kind of one of the bottom rung teams the last couple seasons, but under uh Rick Tucket has really seen them, you know, just kind of get back to being in the middle of the pack this year. Um, and you see a lot of of players kind of bouncing back. Trevor Ziggers, who they acquired from the Anaheim Ducks this year, uh, having a big bounce back and I think is a big reason for their success, um, in in Philly this year. and Dan Lard who had a poor season with the Flames last year has been a big reason for their success this season in Philly. So, but this team is, you know, doesn’t really do like they’re kind of middle of the pack of everything, right? They’re they don’t do anything like super special. Not that the Sharks do either, but this is a I think a a nice I think both teams are heading into this game feeling like they have a good chance to win this game. I think this is a very even game between both teams. So, uh, what do the Sharks need to do, uh, to win said game, right? Uh, we know this Flyers offense is is kind of struggles just like the Sharks, but they’ve been getting a lot of goalending that’s really kind of propped them up. So, I think for the Sharks, it’s get to the net, try to score some goals because and then try to get this Flyers offense to keep along with you because I do think the Sharks have an advantage offensively, especially when it comes to the star power and the Sharks, you know, especially the top end names, right? Cabbrini Smith, I I think should be able to have a good game in here. We saw Celbrini, you know, break out after a little mini slump of two games with three points in the last game. And I think I don’t see a reason why Celbrini can’t keep it going uh against this Flyers defense. Uh and then I I think the middle six here, right? If you can get any sort of production from either the Wenberg line or the Dandria line, I think it’s going to go a long way for San Jose in this game. Uh we did also talk about yesterday, right, the PK um you know on yesterday’s episode how the PK had a a little bit of a tough uh week. I think this is a really good opportunity for the penalty kill to bounce back um and against a power play that’s you know kind of uh in that middle of the pack group as well. So I do think uh the PK needs to to be sharp. Uh we know of course the Sharks are pretty good about taking uh taking more or drawing more penalties than they take and I I think this could be a opportunity where the special teams could shine in this game uh against the Flyers. So uh right keep out the box, draw penalties, all those kind of cliche things, but I do think although they’re pretty similar, I think the Sharks do have a little bit of advantage here. uh if the power play can play like it did um against the uh hurricanes on Sunday. So uh I think the Sharks win this game. I really like the way that they played with the exception of the third period on Sunday against the uh against the Hurricanes and very much right Hurricanes are trying to come back in that game. So a little bit of a you know a little bit of an excuse in there but I really liked how they played the first two periods. Uh, and I think the Sharks are going to be able to get some quality chances against this Flyers team. And I think Celibbrini, uh, is going to be continue to do good, cool celebrity things. But, um, give me a Will Smith goal in Philly tonight. Uh, the Fresh Prince in Philly. Uh, so give me a Will Smith goal tonight and give me, uh, an Ecklund uh, point as well. Uh, and I think that the Sharks win this game. I’ll say three to2. And I think it’s going to be a really uh really close competitive game where I think both teams uh are going to kind of look at their opportunities in this uh game and which team took advantage of them. So uh we’ll be back tonight of course to uh or this afternoon evening to talk about this game. So uh make sure you’re following along wherever you get podcast and of course you can watch on YouTube as well. Follow the show on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and on Tik Tok. Uh, and if you haven’t yet, go check out um the Locked On uh Sharks uh all access at lockdownsharks.supcast.com. Uh there’s ad free shows and exclusive access to membersonly Discord channel plus extra content uh there as well. So uh we’ll be back uh this evening. Uh until then, bye friends.

Can we declare the Zetterlund for Ostapchuk trade a complete failure. Why trade a young guy after a 24 goal season for a guy who can't get 24 SOG
The celestial tug of war continues. Can Graf Celebrini Smith blessings continue to outweigh the kilngberg + leddy curse. Find out tonight on the next episode of: As the Tank Turns
As we've seen in the first 2 periods, nope they can't outplay them. Seriously, they need to change their play style in the d-zone. This causes them to get hemmed in the zone forever!
