Blue Jackets vs. Hurricanes | NHL Highlights | December 09, 2025
They got back on the ice. Even word was the
video had to be corrected on the Columbus bench. Apparently, they had that corrected.
We are underway. A look at tonight’s starting lineups brought to you by American Express as well
across your screen. The Blue Jackets wrapping up a three-game road trip. And this is the longest
home stand for the Carolina Hurricanes in four years. This is the final game of a sevengame
home stand. And they are three up and three down on it. Wraparound try by Skull tries to get
things started for Carolina. Watch this play as they’re cutting out of their zone. Play comes up.
It’s a neutral zone play. Nifty little play off this skate right up to his stick and he’s just
got he doesn’t have a ton of quickness speed, but he just keeps going and he’s strong. And now
Marenko, he accelerates working through center. He’ll use the far boards to feed Vantill
on net and the stick save off the post on the rebound. Get Marenko back after a couple
games out with injury. Good transition here, Marenko and Fantellia. Two on two, but Marenko
knows how fast Pantelli, they’ve got an incredible chemistry among them. And he puts that puck in his
face. He knows that number 19 is fired towards the net off the stick of Aaho and plays it through the
slot. Ends up left point with Miller. Steam pass and a one-time shanked off. Didn’t get much on
that. It’s around the boards intercepted by Warky. taken off his stick but supported by Proverb
to Ken Johnson. Chipped up but not out along the shelf courtesy of Fetchnikov. Down the
wall comes Jarvis. Played by Winsky past him. The youngster Alexander Disha out there with Joel
Nestrom who draws back in tonight. Glove save made by Breedves off the longister from Spetchnikov.
Here’s Jackson Blake to the corner. Put behind the net to Nikolai Eer. wraparound try right through
the paint. Oh, it’s saved by Greavves. Weak side as Blake found the centering pass. The loose puck
in the corner. Still able to stab it around and it’s moved to Aaho. Floats up top. Gastaspar
off the skates of Aaho into the bumper. Sto and a save made by Gre at the half wall by Aaho.
Up to Gastasar on a return. AO wrist shot. Glove save made by Jed Greco. Wheels across the line.
Heers high slot with a tow drag. Paul instead back to Eer didn’t get much on it. His stick
was blocked in the slot and it floated off the stick of Greavves. Taken into the slot. DeAndre
Miller the intercept tried to outlet Martin up. Baronov takes it back. Some room for Vanilli. Goes
between the legs. Shoot made by Busy. What a move by Vanilli. Oh, the dangle and he was able to walk
in but Busy said no. Dumps it deep. Brandon Busy waits for it to float into the trapezoid. Gave
it away. Beverson throws it out into the crease. and Busting kind of casually getting back out
in front to the corner and a race to Walker finds it all the way around. Maronov waiting
for it. It’s played up top. Warren thought about shooting instead opt for Marenko down
low in front. Score. Mahan. What a pass to Barov in front. Beautiful tic-tac-toe play. A
power play goal for the Blue Jackets. Moronov deposits it and they’ve got a one- nothing
lead. Find the isolated two-on-one. Find the open guy and it’s a low pass down from
Monahan down from the goal line across and then how about that? Monahan gets back involved
with the primary assist to Veronov. I love that Bronov goes right there top of the crease.
You can see how he chokes down a little, uses that left leg too to make sure when
that puck comes across it might be bobbling, but he makes sure that he’s able to elevate
it up so that Busy has no chance. What a dangling in front. Save made as right on
the doorstep of Seth Jarvis. He was denied by Greavves over the stick side. Missed the
net. Fetchnikov rolls one back to Gotas Bear at the point. Long wrist shot pipped in front
and made by Greavves. The screen set by Stall. Dmitri Baronov all career highs last season and
only his third year, second year I should say, in the NHL. He’s gotten better and better
each year and he’s on pace to beat those numbers this year. Chinoikov drives the net.
Susty but is able to kick out the left pad. won 12 of the 15 we’ve had thus far. Although this
time it’s Columbus that wins it. Pointto- point. Matt Chuck. Wrist shot. Save made by Busy. The
rebound loose. Monahan with an opportunity and puts it off the outside of the net. Matuck calmly
out to Ken Johnson. Looks ahead. Nice stretch pass. Here is Monahan holding centers one. That
shot saved by Fussy Cinger. Got to rely on your goalender. And these both these goenders have
been fantastic. But how about the Blue Jackets come in? Look how wide these guys are. They’re
ready to spot out the dots in the entire Eastern Conference. Marenko trying to slip one through
to Orenky. Denied. Baronov able to make a tuck pass and it pops to the left of the post. Snow
angel in the paint for FY and he keeps it out of the net with Baronov looking for his second.
a lot of fire the last couple weeks. But here’s a look at this exchange. And right there, it looked
like Vantilli maybe could have shot the puck and then they they try to go in and they dig. And I
think he’s maybe arguing that it was covered by a defenseman. Let’s see what happens here. No. Oh,
the puck is loose. Yeah, I think it Fantelli is saying that puck is loose. You can be a great
athlete, but if you don’t know how to skate, you’re not going to be able to do much. And if
you’re an exceptional skater, you’re going to be able to do a lot. and Tilly pokes one off of busy.
His initial shot blocked. Stabbed one towards the net. A little stick lift here. Chinov tried to
go back door and that was denied. The block by Walker. Back to the point. Matt, he thought Van
Tilly was going to play that puck. Van Tilly was heading off instead for a change. So that
allows Stall to dump it in and get Carolina an opportunity to change. They win a puck behind the
net though. Centering pass off the post. Jarvis able to control the loose puck. Gostasar toes the
line again. It’s a tired group of Blue Jackets out there. Gostas Bear down Broadway. Oh, what a good
save by Jet Freeze. That was the second shift in the last 5 minutes or so. The period of the long
change where Carolina trapped several Blue Jackets on the ice. That time all five players were out
there for at least 90 seconds. That shot scores the cup. The top line strikes and we’re tied
at one. Leads to this goal by Seth Jarvis. But how about the work by Spetchnikov first to get
it and then Jarvis just sort of with a little dipsy do. A little exchange, a little give and
go and then some patience too. He hangs on to it. He thinks maybe about wrapping the puck,
but waits and waits and waits until he finds Seth Jarvis in that little soft spot between
the hash marks. Good work. Here’s Seth Jarvis. Some room now for Jenowski. Moves in. Could not
get a shot off. Doing the slits though to keep it out of the net. Marchens eyes up. He’s looking
to pass the puck. It’s almost like he has a little bit of indecision. Not sure what to do. And Jack
Greavves shuts the door. Yeah, you know the only thing I’d say we see it in slow motion. Bro’s
coming down. He’s almost falling. That’s the chip one to Jarvis. Save made by Greavves. Jarvis
that close to his second. Watch his glove here. And good battle again by Spencerov. He gets the
board battle on their goal to Jarvis. And here he does a big sauce up and over to Jarvis. And then
little bit of a bobble there. But hey, nope. Nope. There’s Sean Walker. He’s shouldered a lot of the
burden of time on ice. Shot open on the doorstep. A save made by Greens. Got this. Fires one wide.
Got eight and one in his first nine games. Miller shoots and a chest save made by Greavves. Nishes
hustles over. Can’t clear. Monahan lost it. Pocket pick. Short-handed opportunity across the line.
Jarvis towrack shoots wide all the way around the boards that drops it off. Carried by Fabro through
center. Turn right back under the stick of Brennan G. And Hall moves in. Robinson cut. Shoots. Score.
Robinson off the feet from Taylor Hall under the bar to give the Canes a onegoal lead. It’s a It’s
a misplay here. Watch. You’ve got a You’ve got the the Columbus Blue Jackets in position to get the
puck deep. It was Dante Fabro. Could have gotten that puck in. He tries a cute pass off the wall.
It’s intercepted and it comes right back down on a twoon-one on Brendan Smith. Down for the first
time in this game. And their third period woes continue. with stall moves in front shot save
made kicking the pan out three they took one away from Martin Hook to keep floats back up top
to Aaho across to Gastaspar down to the goal line under the stick of chips it back up top handled
by Gastaspar skating onto it that shot scorenikov he only had one goal in his last 11 games
before that power play tally and it’s a twogoal advantage for the Kings. Well, here’s
a look at what happened. There’s good movement around again. It’s a faceoff win by Jordan
Saul. Gives them zone time, zone pressure, and then Sakov sort of fluffs the puck a little
bit, but it’s still he’s able to get it up, get back over, and then he gets in position.
Jordan Stall tip, second power play goal in three. I think Stall gets a tip here.
Yeah, he was the first one through. and or two games and uh and that’s first time
in four years. One in a save made by By right but they’re sick if they come back right now
and get on the board that changes the whole complexion of the game. So guided in by Coyle
moved by Bumpsy looks along the shelf. Shovel towards the net corner by the doorstep. Couldn’t
te it up. Circling the net is Prover. Two on four. Absorbs contact. Shot towards the net and Stall
missed it. Tip high and wide. So the Blue Jackets feed one quickly. Monahan loses a draw. It’s wound
around the boards. Warreny attacks. Thrown towards the empty net. score. Martinook just fired at
the length of the ice and found the cage. An empty net goal to stretch the lead. His alumni
game, but it starts here with a big faceoff win by captain Jordan Stall. He has been on fire at
the dot all night long. Good set play. Smart get it around behind and then Mark Nooks. He’s under
duress from Zack Winsky there, but he just wings it all the way down and finds the empty net. And
Carolina will end this sevengame home stand on the plus side at 4 and three overall. Plenty of
room here for a shot off the post. Enikov found iron the tuck down to the goal line. Bettering
passing another save. Well, Columbus is still pushing down by three right now with that empty
net and Chinov rips this one off the crossbar. that you would think would be a battle for
that division lead all season long as the final seconds took off and Brandon Busy has won
again nine and one in his first 10 career starts.
