It’s also a result of a lot of injuries and game-day inactives
While it is impressive what the Bills are able to accomplish sometimes with practice squad players and backups, I think it’s time that some serious consideration is given to why Bills players are getting injured at such a high rate year after year. I don’t know if it is due to playing style or the type of players the organization prefers or strength and conditioning issues or what is going on exactly, but clearly there is a long running problem and it needs to be sorted out if this team is ever going to get to the top.
Yay?
JA17 is the best player in the NFL. Cook is a top 2 RB, and our Oline is solid. That can carry a team into the playoffs but without true WR support for JA17, and a defense that requires lots of turnovers and scores off them to win, its ominous how the team’s playoff success will be. Our run defense is of the worst in the league and injuries are going to continue to be a major problem.
Don’t have data to support this – but my suspicion is that on the defense side – Bills value quickness rather than size. Our LB are undersized and go against much bigger opponents. Our DL is mostly 3T and we were begging for 1T for years. These guys get blown off the line against much bigger OL opponents. We probably need to rethink our scheme.
We are also one of the most injured teams in terms of games missed, hence the practice squad elevations.
*Nobody circles the wagons
I can’t wait till we get four of our missing starters back. They are on schedule to return this weekend or the following weekend. To have four of our seven missing starters back will help the team a lot. Three of the players are lost for the rest of the season.
