Should the FO give Alonso a call?

  1. It won’t happen, but my logic is since Hoskins ~~and Bauers are both~~ is gone, 1B is pretty much a void. As much as I loved what Andrew Vaughn did this year, I get the feeling he may due for a regression (hopefully I’m proven wrong).

But if the FO is cool with Woody getting the QO of $22M, clearly there’s money. Why not take a chance? Doesn’t mean they’ll get Alonso, but they have to at least consider it.

EDIT: Forgot about Bauers re-signing, but still, if I were the GM, I’d at least see what Alonso wants.

  2. We’re good at first base, if we’re going to go for any of the big FAs it should be at third or short

  3. can he play SS?

and don’t be like, no….cause have you seen him try to play SS? I have no evidence that he can’t!

  4. If the FO doesn’t then they aren’t doing their due diligence. Sure Vaughn was a great story last year but ask yourself Alonso or X. It more times than not will be Alonso.

With the reports of wanting to cut payroll I don’t see it happening but hey maybe they finagle something.

  5. MIL isn’t giving him the APY or length of contract he wants.

He would be a clear upgrade at 1B but it’s not realistic at all.

  6. I’m pretty sure we are about to trade Freddy and possibly Trevor McGill to save 6 million, lol

    MLB is broken

  7. I mean the answer to your question is technically yes, they absolutely *should* contact Boras about him. But there’s not a chance in hell they’ll get him. If they actually signed him it would be the only move the Brewers could make the entire offseason and throughout next season, and likely at least 1 season after that, which is a crazy gamble. That’s how expensive the dude is to us.

If we’re going to dish out insane money for a single position, it really needs to be SS or 3B.
