The Grizzlies got a MASSIVE win here…
The Grizzlies have picked up multiple victories here. And what I mean here, I’m talking about these three guys, Cam Spencer, Zack Edy, and Jaylen Wells. All guys, you probably guessed it, from the 2024 draft class. These three guys have played their roles efficiently. They have done their part. They have done their job. And because of them, Memphis is secretly one of the hotter teams in the NBA right now. Now, I know they need to go up against the best teams. They need to beat 500 teams. That was a struggle for them last season, and it’s beginning to be a struggle for them this season. But it’s because of these three guys on the court while John Morance’s out staying healthy, staying solid, and staying very efficient. But what’s going on everybody? Jared Altor here for another episode of Grizzlies Ditus. Thank you so so much for tuning into the video, bringing you your latest Grizzlies news and updates. Just want to shout out our 32% of subscribers. 68% of you have to subscribe. If you’re not motivated right now, look, I understand. But yeah, let’s treat this like an early little Christmas present for you. And I try so hard to get these videos out to you. It’s not as easy as it looks uh getting all this content, these images, these videos in for you, but you can repay me back by hitting that subscribe button. Takes less than a second. Happy holidays. Merry Christmas. Thank you much. the uh Grizzlies 2024 draft class. The past seven games, Zack Edy, the ninth pick, ninth overall pick in the 2024 draft. Many people, especially that Yahoo Sports analyst, called it maybe the worst lottery pick that she’s ever seen in her life. And that is has backfired against her and many other uh people that didn’t have any hope in Edy. And this is going back to his days at Purdue and even before his days at Purdue. He was the backup center at IMG Academy. You know, all the IMG Academy where all the great basketball players, young basketball players go and attend. Yeah, he was there. He was the backup center and look at him now. His second year he’s doing this. 14.4 points a game, nearly averaging 13 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 68% of his field goals. I would also like to know that that that stat is not on here, but I would also like to know what his average is in terms of offensive rebounding because I guarantee you that’s a big difference. Offensive rebounding, second chance opportunities, one of the more underrated methods to get easy buckets because the defense is already off guard. When you get offensive rebounds, the defense really doesn’t know what to do, where to turn, or who to guard. Those are really some of the more underrated, easier ways of scoring the basketball, getting offensive rebounds, and Zach Edi is a big part of that. Jaylen Wells, 39th overall pick, averaging 17.3 points a game, 3.7 rebounds and 19 of 33 from deep, 55% from deep for Jaylen Wells. And then Cam Spencer, the 53rd pick, one from Yukon, who coincidentally helped beat Purdue in that national championship. Still a little sour about that, but we’re all teammates now. We’re all good. and he’s averaging 15.7 points a game, 5.1 rebounds, 21 of 34 from deep, 62%. So, I want to highlight Jaylen Walls for a second because I know we’ve had a bunch of videos about Edy and Coward and the nonsense going on around the media with John Morant and Jiren Jackson. maybe made a couple videos about Aldama, but we have some Jaylen Wells footage that I want to show just because I want to give him some love and for what he’s done this year. Look at him go behind the back, step back. Jay hits it. Nothing but the bottom of the net. And Jaylen Wells, I I showed you that because of this his rookie season, he wasn’t playing as confident as that. He wasn’t putting the ball on the deck, creating his own shot. Now he has the confidence in doing that. I fully believe one day that if he is projected to do what he’s supposed to do, he is one day going to be an NBA all-star. And I think the same with Zack Heiti as well, just because of his ability to uh rebound the ball, especially offensively, get easy buckets. You can see the averaging once again that averaging a double double his past seven games. And I fully believe he can keep that up. And you know it’s this all the you know all the hype is around when you talk about seven foot4 guys all the hype is around winama but I guarantee you Zack Edy whenever he goes up against women Edy gives Wimi a run for his money. I can guarantee that for sure. But also want to shout out Cam Spencer for a second because look at this stat. best pullup field goal percentage in the 202526 NBA regular season. Minimum 30 total field goal attempts. Ryan Nimhard, Tim Hardaway Junior. Ryan Nimhard is a rookie uh completely underlooked with his uh 511 frame. Then you got Rory Hachimura, Cam Spencer, number four on that list, Davon Mitchell, and then you got the MVP behind Cam Spencer. Now, I think SGA is more of like a a let me set up shop in the front court and let me create my own mid-range shot from there. He’s not really known for pull-up jumpers like that, like quick transition pull-up jumpers. I mean, he obviously is fully capable of that. you know, he’s still shooting at a pretty nice clip, 52.3%, but he’s mostly known for slowpaced basketball and OKC, we all know how good they are. Um, I once said in a video, and this is back in October, and we can totally totally either make fun of me or you can utterly definitely say, “Oh, Jared, wow, you were actually right here.” projected that they may or may not win 75 games and they have not played a single game with their championship starting five together. They have not. And they’re on the same rate as the 16 Warriors as the 96 Bulls. That’s scary to think about. So, you can either totally make fun of me uh when we go back in midappril and look at the final standings or you can actually maybe bow down a little bit and say, “You know what, Jared, you were right.” But we’ll we’ll find out. LeBron James on that list. Christophs Porzingis. Really? Well, I didn’t know that. I didn’t know that that big unicorn could could pull up like that. Chris Middleton and then Coniple at 50%. But Cam Spencer, he is he is also adjusting in the way that y’all wanted to with Luke Canard. And I know how upset y’all got with Luke Canard last year. He would get It’s not even about not making shots. He would get good looks and he would not even shoot the basketball at that point. it just became, all right, this guy, um, you know, he had a good run here, uh, but he’s clearly gotten to a point where he’s just not playable anymore. So, the Grizzlies rightfully got rid of Canard. A lot of fans, um, he just got restless at points, they were like, “Yeah, it good.” And then the fans who were like a little more patient with it said, “You know what? He he did his part at times, but it was time for him to go. And I think we all can come together and say that it was time for Luke to go because you got Cam Spencer now who’s playing lights out. And it’s not just a pull-up shooter anymore. Look, pull up field goal percentage, not just catch and shoot. This is pull up field goal percentage. So, he’s expanding his game, too, just like Jaylen Wells. And also want to give a shout out to Zack Edy because these are his running net points uh from so far in 2025. This is from a uh statistician well-known statistitian on X and he has this graph graphic right here of Zach’s running net points and how that’s improved. And we don’t know if there’s a direct correlation here with Edy and Wells, but look at this. This is Zach Edi right now, right? Okay, you ready? Okay, here we go. That’s Jaylen Wells. So, that’s where he started and then goes into the negatives, negatives, negatives in late October, lingers through mid November, gets at it worst point in mid November, and then he finally starts to trickle up. one sack, 80 returns to the basketball court. I don’t know if that’s correlated, per se, but we either way we can say he is playing a lot better than he did at the beginning of the season. I know it was a tough adjustment, you know, getting through all these injury updates with um Morant now and with Scotty Pippen and with Tai Jerome. Memphis, they got to get a full team together, but what they’re doing right now, they’re doing a good job. One crit criticism that they really have to focus on this year, beating 500 teams. If they don’t beat 500 teams, they’re just going to be the same exact team as last season. And they’re really not going to move anywhere. They’re just going to remain stagnant. They’re going to remain stationary. They’re not going to do anything uh special this year at all. But you got to get the guys healthy. You got to beat the 500 teams. They’re beating the teams they’re supposed to right now, which is good. But when you get your guys back, you got to compete against these 500 teams. That’s all I got to say. But hopefully you all agree with that. Uh, leave a comment down below on your thoughts of the 2024 draft class. Zack Edi, Cam Spencer, Jaylen Wells, what you’ve liked, what you’d like for them to improve on. Uh, anyone any other comments. Again, it’s the First Amendment. Keep it clean though. But you can comment down in the section down below. You can like this video. Comment on this video. Like I said, share this video. We’ll see you in the next video. Thank you much.
