NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Predators – December 9, 2025

up against Steven Stamco. Sound the Predators. We are underway in Nashville. Predators going with 11 forward, seven defenseman as O’Reilly shoots the puck in. O’Reilly, Stantos, Evangelista starting forward line for the Predators up against McKinnon Lechin and Nesar sends the puck up the board. It’s held in by O’Reilly and then it bounces away from Luke Evangelista. Now it’s McKinnon for the Avalanche. Here’s Lechin. Sticked aside by Soros. Braden Shay back on it for Nashville. Now Nous has the Avalanche keep it alive. Back out to Kale McCar towards the net. Kicked out by the left pad of Sorrowos and it’s Macar once again out at the right point. Nathan McKinnon. Long shot knocked into the corner. Screwed two empty net goals in the three nothing win. Nashville had won their prior four home games against Colorado. Yeah, and for whatever reason, the Nashville Predators seem to play the Colorado Avalanche very tough here on home ice. Nice move by Brock Nelson. He scores a minute 12 seconds in. It was Brent Burns 15 seconds in back on the 22nd of November. And now on the second Avalanche shot, Nelson with his 11th of the season. One of those highlight reel goals. Just a pretty goal. as the Avalanche able to get through the neutral zone. A great individual move by Brock Nelson on Roman Yosi. Yosi would like to play this a little better. No doubt as he goes for puck. Nelson able to get around him and a terrific finish by Nelson as he puts it five hole on Jussi Sorrowos. And another quick start for the Avalanch for the Predators who’s really had a difficulty in scoring goals and scores a power play goal. Just a good play here by Ryan O’Reilly. Attracts defenders on the wall finds Marches. So it looked like Marsheso may have thought past, but I think he caught Wedgwood kind of leaning a little bit, able to corral his own rebound, and the creds have tied this thing up. Yeah, that entry was That’s a nice play here early on this power play for the National Predators. Six of the season for Marshall. Right passed up by Soros on Nes. They are plus 53 as far as goal differential, which leads the league by a wide margin. Nashville minus 27. Incredible ability in that area. And how about the play there by Rhyn R. So smart. Score. 2-1 Nashville. Schaer with his second in six games. Oh, Schaefer a big strong young player here. Just a good job. The Avalanche win the face off, but a little bit of heaviness by the Predators to get in on the puck and create the turnover. You got to like it as Fetchnov Spetchnov who got thrown out of the face off seals the wall and then Schaer with a power move towards the net. A simple hard play pays off as Horsesburg again on the fore as the Predators go for a change now. McKinnon pass up the middle deflected by Kirat played by Kelly stopped by Soros and then Kirat looking for the rebound. just puts on the brakes now. A centering pass broken up. Here’s McKinnon. McKinnon into the slot. Save on it by Sorrow. He’s had a lot of good stuff on the ice as well. Stanley Cup winner in 2019 with St. Louis. A valuable leader on this Fred’s team. Cuck is loved by Sorrow. McKinnon heads in deep for Kelly and now a jump by Kiwi Ronda bars all the way around Forsber and Kelly in a race for it. It’s 82 Avalanche here in the second period side by Wedwood Evangelist with the puck goes in front. O’Reilly took a whack at it. Spenceov’s there and Nes picked up the loose puck for the ABS. Long pass up the left wing for McKinnon sneaking in. Big save by Sorrowos. McCarron quickly up the middle. Red geeks the Avalanche franchise has an extra letter E in his last name. Here’s McKinnon down low. Lisk back in front. McKinnon great chance. Take a look at our AT&T connected cam and the Avalanche able to work it down low. A little give and go and Lannisog finds McKinnon right in the slot and a good save there for Jussi Sorrowos. Maybe a jam play or two and then after that it’ll open up the up top to Mar and then you can get to to work from there. That’s what I’d like to see here in this third bar. I mean there’s so many options wherever they take it right down low up the out. All four goals scored in the first 10 and a half minutes of this game. Marshall with the puck has one of them out in front of Stam Coast but he was tied up by Drury’s about 40 seconds ago. Here’s Disks the puck ahead for McKinnon then across the line to a streaking Taves and he’s stopped by Suros particularly off the rush for the Avalanche but this time a little bit different. McKinnon able to gain the blue line and then find Taves who’s coming down that weak side with speed and McKinnon gets him in stride and a real good save here by Sorrowos. Sorrowos was good in the second period outshot 135 and steps in against McCarron who wins it back to Blankenburg and McCarron comes out from behind the net. I have to admit Jonesy and I kept the window closed. Negative temperatures that night. Puckles in front now. Back out for Willsby. Shoots and a save by Wedwood. Now it’s Colton back in his own zone. Here’s Kale Mar. The car lead pass for Taves. Taves into a shot and loves that one. The temperature of everything going on. And Kale Mar here. It’s going to stop in the blue paint. Evangelista back behind the net. Stan coalista with it once again. it out to the right side for Wilsby. Now Shay kept the puck in the zone. Long shot score. Great shift for the Predators. They take a 3-2 lead with just over 7 minutes remaining as Brady Shay beats for the Predators that they would find a way to bust through. They had several good opportunities. Watch the work here by Steven Stamco. To me, this all second effort. Watch here. Another wind puck there for Stamp Co. He helps loosen the puck up for Evangelista who gets it eventually up top. Shay able to find a lane and traffic in front and the PRs have the lead. More bodies in front. Top line for the Avalanche out there. Great job by this line again with Stampos and O’Reilly as they just keep it simple, work hard of a car, the new one. Nelson moves it down low. Nes for McKinnon. Cloved by Soros. McKinnon defended by O’Reilly. McKinnon below the goal line. Out for Nis. 12 seconds to go. Nes back out for Mar. Mar shoots. Score. The Avalanche tie it with 8 seconds remaining in regulation on the power play. And goodness Mar is this is it. and bodies in front. They’re running out of options and Mar finds a way to get it through the other way and just sifted it through. And he was the one who kept that empty net goal from not have that shot not allowed from. Impressive play here in this last minute from Kale Mar rolling. His stick broke earlier. He wants this. This is the competitiveness of Hale Mar and this big moment. His eyes too on that shot booge. He was looking right where he wanted to put that puck. Incredible. McKennon with an overtime goal for Colorado this season. Stamco with two for Nashville. Save made on Juskini. Stamos already with two overtime goals this season. Across it comes to Wilsby. Nice move. Touch and stopped by Wedsworth at the right hand. Here’s McKinnon across the line. McKinnon up top. Touch to his right. McKinnon across. Soros knocks the puck down. Maraso with 10 seconds. Back out for Spov. Tied up. Continues along with the puck. Dropping it back. Dosi shoot. Saved by Wedwood. And that will do it. We will head to a shootout. lost all three of theirs. Ryan O’Reilly up first. O’Reilly holding it on Wedgewood. He scores and he picks a spot here. And I like how he changes gears right here. Wow. Top shelf. Looks to second shooter for the ABS. Sorrowos comes out, comes down the angle and stops Nuskin. And watch where he is when Nuskin shoots the puck. He does not retreat. He stays right at the top of the blue paint. Look how patient, patient, and the answer. Look at this positioning. Watch where he ends up. He’s All right, here comes Landisk looking to keep this game alive for the Colorado Avalanche. And he will run. Runner is winning.

Jonathan Marchessault, Reid Schaefer, and Brady Skjei each scored and Juuse Saros made 39 saves to elevate the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win in the shootout over the Colorado Avalanche.

  1. Saros is just nuts. Yea he let in 3 goals but a whopping 42 shots against. Pred D needs to clean it up and let Saros breathe a little

  2. Wouldn't be an Avs season without getting goalied by a bottom 5 team, it's a canon event. Pp and shootout continues to be atrocious and it's starting to cost them games now

  4. Not on team tank here — just a casual observer of the bottom teams in the standings.
Oh interesting, Nashville and Buffalo won tonight. Good for them, always good to see league parity when bottom teams win.
Well alright then, not sure how to feel.
