Would imagine he'd shift to DH here because he's pretty horrid defensively, but a big time lefty power bat for sure.

  1. While I’m rightfully skeptical about getting any of these guys that we’re “interested” in, it does feel good to see reports that the Pirates are finally potentially making some moves

  2. Lowe shouldn’t be super expensive. Good bat with power, but not great defense. Prefer the hit tool though over defense tool

  3. He’s one of one targets I like, but I can see a trade being an easier avenue than purely signing guys who can choose not to come here. Need to start getting some competent players or severely overpaying to lure free agents. Hopefully he doesn’t cost too much to acquire

  4. Him being a one year rental should keep the trade price reasonable. I think this might be the best piece the Pirates have a shot at.

  5. It feels like he has been around forever and has been a trade candidate every deadline and offseason. I guess that’s just the nature of being a Rays player.

  6. Not the most exciting name, but all depends on cost of acquisition. A bear with a baseball bat would be an upgrade on the lineup last year, so it’s worth kicking all the tires. Would be disappointing if it were the only move, great as a secondary/tertiary move.

  7. Would be a solid add, lefty power hitter. >200 iso the last 3 years. Would fill a good need imo. Not a guy who is the centerpiece of a good team but he makes our lineup much better.

Its clear they only want a lefty hitter with PNC havent heard anything around Alonso so I think people need to stop thinking hes the schwarber pivot.

  8. I wonder what the actual price is. Sounds like the two starting pitchers they are still discussing moving are Keller and Burrows.

Doesn’t appear that Lowe will command that though.

  9. I wonder if Nick Gonzales would be part of a return. I love the guy, but he’s always been about replacement level at best I guess. Plus Termarr isn’t far off.

  10. They will be aggressive on everybody, but will sign none of them. All this press is Bob buying headlines so he can say they tried which is all the season ticket holders need to hear before they cut him next years check.
