Here’s the reason Yankees’ hunt for Cody Bellinger could last ‘into January’ | Klapisch

  1. Pivot and put Boras on his heels. Far too often this dude is driving the bus in the offseason.

  2. Go less years and overpay with a higher annual avg salary. Way too many regrettable long term deals are hamstrings clubs ( cough cough. ….Stanton..)

  3. Lots of interesting tidbits in here, including some notes on Soto’s free agency’s which I’m not sure I entirely believe cuz they kind of seem like Yankee fan service.

But I don’t really agree with the overall tone that the Yankees are desperate for Bellinger or that fans would be outraged if he went to the Mets on some huge deal. I like Bellinger, but I’d have a limit on his contract. I think if Bellinger gets close to Christmas and still hasn’t signed, the Yankees would pivot and trade for Brendan Donovan and sign a pitcher like Imai or Mike King instead.

  4. Boras is a good agent but often only as good as the client he’s representing. We’ve seen his shtick doesn’t work as well when it’s a lesser player.

At the end of the day he works for the player, they make the finally decision so if a player is dead set on the best deal regardless of team that’s on them and there’s nothing wrong with it.

  5. wouldn’t be surprised if his free agency stretches on but think this article is kind of a nothingburger

  6. The Yankees are going to risk losing a lot of critical games this month if the put off upgrading the roster until next year.

  7. Cool. The 435th article on a player that the Yankees are tied to. Don’t care. Wake me up when actual moves are made.

    Baseball offseason fucking SUCKS.

  8. Bellinger is not the type of player you revolve your entire fucking offseason around lmao. Just a joke of a team.

  9. Yankees will move on. Giving a guy in his 30s a long term deal who has been hurt for most of his 20s.

  10. Bellinger is not a player worth holding your entire offseason up over. This is absolutely ridiculous.
