NBA Nightcap Reacts to Knicks’ Finals Chances | NBA on Prime

Late in the first quarter, it was a tie game. Jaylen Brunson going back and forth with a fan. Then don’t know better. Whoever that is don’t know. Yeah, cuz look what he did off the inbound. Just nails by y’all. We talking. We don’t poke that B. Goes off for 20 points in the first. Knicks lead by three. Still in the first. Brandon Ingram knocks down the pull up jumper over Mitchell Robinson. Ingram had 17 in the first quarter. Second quarter. Carl Anthony Towns Thundercat Thundercat Thundercat Thundercat strike get in the camera. They got to yell at somebody. Later in the second, OGA Noi gets the steal and throws it down on the other end. Knicks lead by 16. In the third quarter, Josh Hart drives in and gets this shot to fall through contact. He seems that he does that three times a game and just gets right back up. Late in the third off the miss free throw. Robinson kicks out to Brunson for the three. Brunson went off for 35 points. The Knicks win. Offensive rebounds. Spray for threes. This a new NBA free throw box hand. Must be cool. I think Josh Hart could be a stunt man. Yeah, he could be. Tuck and roll. Be a football player. Put a man tight end. Yeah, tight end. Defensive end guy. Ben Stiller, UD’s bestie, said he loves this team. Tweet at him, UD. Follow him and unfollow him. I I mean, I love all his movies. I I don’t know why he was messing with me. Just so you know, everything I’ve always been everything I ever got in Blake, I never started it. Just so you know, I’ve never started any something like that, but I never started. Gotcha. Should we invite him to Vegas? Absolutely. You’ve been still to Vegas? Yeah. I think that’s where actually the finals of dodgeball was. Vegas. You got some synergy. And we’ve got Desmond Bane. Good. You’re on to something. You’re on to something. I know, of course, we talked to Jaylen Brunson, but I do want to just stay there for a little bit because Jaylen Brunson obviously continues to be the heartbeat of this team, the leader of this team. What he is doing offensively so far this season is impressive. Why is this the year that Jaylen can help lead this team to the finals? I mean, for me, if you if you look at this team and you look at the East, the timing is everything. This is the time. You got close last year. Indiana came and took you out. Things didn’t go your way. But this is the time I think now. And I don’t I hate to use the term championship or bus because I don’t think if you don’t win a championship, you can’t get positive things out of a season. You can have guys step up, you can have role players step up, you things a lot of things can happen. But I know if he’s looking at this East right now and he’s looking at the opportunities that they have, the way he’s playing, the way he’s been playing, the clock runs fast in this league. I mean, it goes fast. So, you have to capitalize when you have opportunities. And right now, the New York Knicks have the opportunity to get there in the East. Now, can they get over the hump? They got to deal with some guys out west, but they can get there in the East. I mean, he told us that he feels no pressure, which is the thing that you should say, John. Will you do you have any thoughts on that, John? You play in New York. It’s a lot of pressure. the big media space, but you got to the West East Conference finals last year. So, you know, they want you to get over the hump. Like, it’s been a long time since they got there. And I feel like him, he said the right answer, though. Like, we’re taking it day by day, one by one as a group. We have a new coaching staff, a new system we got to get acclimated with. So, I think he’s doing the right way. I think you never know what some can happen at a trade deadline, but he’s taking it day by day and they’re just trying to get it all acclimated. Yeah, there’s a lot. 27 votes for mayor. You know, it takes a lot of pressure off. It’s a very political answer right there. Hey, look. He’s in training. To win a championship, it’s going to be more than 27. He might be the mayor. He’s going to be the mayor. And and another reason why it’s so important is because you don’t make a move and get rid of Tibidu unless you’re looking for champ unless you have championship expectations. You don’t get rid of him unless you have championship expectations. So, we didn’t put that pressure on them. That pressure was put on them. Once you let Tibido go, everybody was like, “Okay, what’s next?” Because it better be a championship. I think he I mean, he he did say the right thing, right? You do have to take this day by day. You know that the the regular season is just building. Just building. You’re stacking up wins literally, but also metaphorically. You’re you’re learning how to win games. You’re learning how to get used to each other. I mean, Tom Tibido Tom Tibido set the foundation for this team. And now Mike Brown has come in and done a great job of implementing everybody, right? We’ve seen a little bit of uptick from OG Anobi, from Male Bridges. So, this team is poised in my opinion to to really make a run and and take take them to the finals. So, um I I love what I’m seeing. It’s just about it’s about health. I mean, they have they have a good team, but like anything, those guys stay healthy. I mean, you got JB, male, OG, even Mitchell Robinson is coming in and impacting winning in a huge way, and he might not even score. So, I like this Knicks team and we like what we’re seeing from Mike Brown up to this point, Steve. Yeah, I thought it was interesting. He said, you know, they’re implementing, you know, they’re they’ve changed systems. You know, sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s changed on night and parts of the games you go, “Oh, wow. This is new. They’re playing a totally different, you know, equal opportunity style.” And then other parts of the game it looks very similar to last year. So that just tells you they’re in a process of trying to revamp what they do offensively. And I think the other part of his answer that was, you know, spot on is it’s process over outcome. You know, when you say, “I don’t feel pressure.” That’s cuz he’s busy every day just working on his games as we work too hard. you know, that kind of takes the pressure off when you go to bed at night saying, “I did everything I could do today to be ready to go tomorrow.” Do that day after day after day. It takes pressure off you. You’re just worried about the process. And so, I think that’s a good place for them to be like UD said, they have the opportunity. You know, there’s an opportunity this year without, you know, Tatum, without Hallebertton, you know, the field is weakened. Let’s call it what it is. At the same time, you know that Detroit, you know, that some of these teams are going to come and be reckoned with at the end of the day. So, as they continue to get to know each other, get to feel what Mike Brown is trying to implement, see how far they can take that. I think that’s going to be a big part of this. And then, of course, especially in today’s NBA, health, health, health, health, health, like BG said. I’m Taylor Rooks with NBA on Prime. Thanks so much for watching. 1. This is a very good mix of personalities: easygoing conversation yet full of nuggets and insights. I especially like the dynamic between BGriff and UD–both guys come across as funny and full of good stories. And Taylor Rooks is a good host–never overbearing, just easily guides the conversation and adds good humor. Good show

  2. Ingram slapping Mitch’s butt after hitting that contested long 2, hope he kept that same energy when they scored 13 points in the second quarter.

  3. Everybody is saying it, but I will add to the pile. Blake belongs on camera. Udonis belongs on camera. They strike this great balance between high levels of insight and respect for the game and professionalism and skill as media members.

  4. Bro this segment is turning into something real heartwarming. Its so good to see John Wall among the group. He's been through hell, he needs some love.

  5. To be Honest don't want a chip without every teams BEST player on the floor. Yeah winning the chip will be special for NEW YORK but it will feel like we cheated

  6. This is why we can’t trade for Giannis. It’s going to slow ball movement and the ability to stretch the floor. Giannis is good doesn’t mean his style of play fits this system
