[PPGT] Après Ski | Avs @ Predators | The Its a Shootout Not Human Bowling Edition

We’re really spoiled this year and this loss bothered me. Glad to see Makar get a goal though. He’s had so many chances over a couple of games and he just couldn’t get the puck in.
Fuck Filip Forsberg for the record, wtf are you doing bro
Not freaking out too much since this is a game that is normally not a loss for the boys. So many grade A chance where we got zero puck luck like Landys deflection and Mack post among others
I don’t like the win-o-meter 😭
The Sams had sort of a shit game, didnt they?
Listen, I know Makar scored on the PP last night and got us into OT which was fucking amazing. But just because the wind changes direction for a second doesn’t mean the shit don’t stink.
We are past the “Meh it’s still early in the season they’ll work out the kinks” stage of this. How many of those OT losses never even make it to OT if we had a functioning PP? With the talent we have there’s no reason for the PP to be so ineffective.
Hakstol may not be the answer and I’m fine with that, but I also find it hard to believe that he’s just sitting there going “Alright boys, we’re gonna pass it for 2 min straight and wait for that absolute beauty opening.” Because that’s what ends up happening
Guess it’s time to sign Wojtek for shootouts lol
Hate to lose to a team like Nashville but at least the Avs got a point. I wish Bednar would send up different players in the shootout.
It’s funny to see the hand-wringing over a mid road trip (where they still got 5 of 8 points). We fans have been so utterly spoiled for riches this season that a slight stumble during a week when most of the team was sick has us concerned.
They’re doing great. The powerplay was great last night, AND got rewarded for it. They pick up yet another point on a night where they got straight goalie’d (I love Saros, I just wish the Avs never had to play him). Things are still sublime in Avalanche territory!
(Also: while I obviously prefer to get the second point, I really don’t care if we ever win a shootout. It’s an irrelevant part of the sports when it comes to the games we ACTUALLY care about)
What kind a player needs to slide into the goalie on a free shot?! What are the chances it injures our #1 goalie for the rest of the season. Are there no take aways as a result. Ie. automatic loss shoot out.
Just gotta get this out in the open. I am so tired of seeing the Avs just mail it in on the shootouts. They look so disinterested when they get to shootout. Our efforts are just the bare bones minimum in that situation, reminds me of Kucherov in the skills competition. Our opponents have actual shootout lineups, guys who practice for those moments. We just seem to trot out whoever drew the short straw, and they put up a shot that is not indicative of our talent level. Why are Mack and Makar not shooting? Makar is lethal when he gets in alone during games. Mackinnon is like a fucking freight train barreling down on the goalie, and his conversion rate is insane during games. But even when those 2 guys get opportunities in a shootout, they are not the same as during regulation. Just makes no damn sense to me. We have left at least 3 points on the table this season because apparently no one can be bothered to give a single shit during the shootouts.
