1. There’s a middle reliever on a minor league contract with a spring training invite somewhere in that field

2. Cubs already splurged on Maton. What more could you want?

3. Expect Tucker to get panic signed by the Mets, boy they are losing guys quickly.

4. As much as I want a huge signing, Alonso/Schwarber were not on the top of the list.

   Doesnt mean we will ever get a big signing though…. DANGIT.

5. Cash Considerations had a good season last year.

6. I’m hoping for Suarez, Weaver, and/or Keller. Would gladly welcome back Pomeranz and Thielbar as well. I’d even be happy with Jansen on a one year deal as an experienced arm. The pen is the biggest need.

   Right now it’s Palencia, Maton, Hodge, and a bunch of unproven guys like Little and Brown (if he converts), They need like 3-4 more proven arms in the pen.

   They can work the trade market for a SP.

9. The problem is that the cubs sat on their hands the FA classes before this. We will all be mad at them this off season. But let’s be honest, it’s a weak class.

   This FA class in terms of offense is now Tucker or bust. Do we really think they’d sign Bichette and try to make him work somewhere else? They sat on their hands way too long and now they are faced with trading or some lame duck FA.

   I think they’ll get a solid starter. But it won’t address the lineup issue. The offense just lost its best offensive production since a healthy Bryant. You’re kidding yourself if you think strong SP and a rookie filled lineup gets them any farther than 3rd place in the central.

    The front office has pretty much indicated they aren’t going to do anything.

11. Not going to happen. Jed is too set on developing internal talent while Ricketts refuses to pay big bucks. Our FO is a lose lose.

12. The biggest contract we’ve ever given out to date was to Heyward for 184M and that was a decade ago at this point.

    You guys gotta start realizing we’re a small market team, and the Rickets are just poor everyday people just trying to make it.

13. Why would anyone expect the team to sign a major name?

    The fact that someone willingly signed with the Orioles blew my mind. I expect players to only sign with about 3 – 6 teams and they weren’t on the list. Beyond the Dodgers and Yankees, not much of the MLB is going to appeal to anyone unless they just want a specific team.

16. Honestly because of how they operate their best hope is that they ink PCA and Nico to extensions (PCA to a large one) and then PCA goes out and has a monster year. Because if he has a monster year and they haven’t extended him prior? They won’t pay him because then it’ll be in superstar money territory which they refuse to do.

17. Maybe not a signing but they could trade for Tony Santillan or Félix Bautista. Both weigh 285 and that is pretty big. Plus Bautista is 6’8″.
