This is curtesy of Jeff Veillette posted on twitter who put this chart together. I'm sure this will shock all of us. One of the theories he also talks about is that many of the Canadian teams are high up on the list too which may mean that George Parros suspends based on attention given to the event. Hard to really argue that wholly though, because players who break rules don't get penalized as harshly if it happens against us too.

  1. For a team who gets called “soft”, this is pretty interesting. By interesting, I mean ridiculous.

Added context, the Leafs are among the least penalized teams on the ice since Parros took over DOPS. The Leafs sit 8th least in terms of total penalties taken since 2018.

  2. Lmfao almost double the number games suspended from the 2nd place team with the same actual number of suspensions. You’d think someone went on the ice with a gun to make these numbers make sense

  3. McMann’s high sticking suspension was shenanigans. Did I miss the Goncalves’ knee-on-knee meeting?

    Oh wait…there wasn’t one.

  4. I would like to see a chart where there was a dirty play on the Leafs that didnt even get reviewed by DOPS. It sets a dangerous precedent for the Leafs players because it shows that you can damn near get away with murder against us.

  5. That’s what they get for having a bunch of goons and playing such a dirty game./s

  6. I love how this timeline also lines up with the timeline of how “soft” we’ve apparently been

  7. John Scott was on the JD Bunkis podcast after the McMann hearing announcement and he basically said exactly what you say in the body of your post. Teams that get a lot of eyes get harsher sentences by the DoPS. Leafs get it especially hard because they’re **the** team with all eyes on them.

  8. I always thought the “league is rigged for the Leafs” crowd were just an example of cognitive dissonance, but I now wonder if it’s just straight gaslighting…

    1) the number indicate that the Leafs draw the fewest penalties, and the number has gone down every year since 2018 (they are 32nd this season).
    2) this new revelation about the suspension rates.
    3) if the league was rigged for the Leafs, don’t you think they would have won a cup or two in the last 50 years?

  9. Pretty much all Canadian teams are in the top half of the league. The only one that isn’t, the Canucks, is left out by one spot. Fucking lmao

  10. Curious if it would be possible to show count of suspension games by the other teams playing them.

  11. The Leafs need to offer Parros a job with some insanely high salary that he couldn’t refuse just to get him out of DOPS.

Then just stick him in the basement with a stapler, but it would be worth it to get rid of him.

The cheap fuckers at Rogers would never go for this but it would be a genius move by Leafs management.

  12. Parros is holding a grudge against the Leafs because Colton Orr nearly killed Parros – Orr even waved the medical staff over after Parros was unconscious

  13. Just seeing those numbers is the reason why I don’t watch this sport anymore. What a rigged piece of shit. This league is a fucking embarrassment.

  14. Parros is a biased idiot and has no business still heading up the DOPS.

The lightening are probably only in second because this moron sees a blue and white team and spins the wheel before reading the name on the crest.

  15. Funny part is we apparently have been cheated out of watching this absolute bully of a team play. Id love these stats to be of a team with grit and toughness. But this is like calling the Ice Capades the Broad Street Bullies.
    HEAVY BIAS

  16. Some people think we are just basing this shit off feelings when in reality its literally right here

  17. My favourite was when he suspended Spezza, who had over 1,000 gp with no suspensions, 6 games for his knee on Pionk.

  18. So if I read this right, we have some of the lowest penalties, but the highest suspensions? That’s a weird delta to have.
