So many players wouldn’t get past the first round with the roster we have. We need to start building around Anthony Edwards. We never truly have and this type of defense shows you how poor our roster is built around him. We need a scoring 5, who stays out of foul trouble.
We need PG who can draw a men off of Ant. We need a SF who can hit 3’s consistently and cut to the basket. Jaden is our future PF. He is our version of Chet. We need to play the type of defense we played in 2022. Fast guards who can creat turnovers. We need a back up Center that can come in and play great defense in the paint. I only get mad at finch because of what he doesn’t try. We need a team thats less worried about spacing to unlock what finch can do as a coach. Im not the biggest finch guy, but I also know he has accomplished things with this team that many coaches couldn’t. If this is the roster we have this year, then finch still needs to try and get creative and can’t be worried about young guys making mistakes. You have to work with what you have and not be afraid of failure, because what we are doing right now is way way to predictable.

There’s no building, we’re stuck in what we got. We have limited picks, no cap space, We committed to Julius and Naz long term, we’ve got Rudy for a couple more years after this one. We can pivot with new but similar level pieces, we can hope guys make major strides but any potential (re)build will start in the final year of Ant’s max deal. The masterful work of Tim Connelly.
I do think the move they’ll make long term is move Julius for a starting PG (I’d bet it will be next summer), draft a big wing, slide Jaden to the 4, hoping the wing and Beringer develop into solid starters setting up for a second window with Ant.

Idk we’re pretty good. I think our leadership is strong. Being a contending team 2 years in a row is rare air for the wolves.
Keep hyping Ant, he deserves it, but he’s only our best scorer. Pretty important, but maybe nothing else. And great players historically are judged on their ability to elevate others.
Other skills also matter. Jaden is a pretty complete player.

Back to back WCF at age 22 and 23. Jaden is 25. Team is currently 15-9 and we are getting posts about how awful the Wolves are nonstop.

Yes the supporting cast sucked ass last night. Sometimes you miss open shots, thats basketball. This team has made back to back western conference finals as Ant has carried this franchise but to act like he has a roster like what LeBron had in Cleveland or AD in New Orleans is laughable. Hes got all NBA teammates, a 6th man of the year a DPOY. Cmon man you lose bad games sometimes. Deal with it

How aren’t we building around him? We have team favorable contracts for our young talent, we brought in winning veterans. We’ve gone farther every years he’s been here.
I get it, we have work to do on the roster. But the idea we aren’t doing anything to build around him is laughable at best, and illustrates a real lack of understanding of the current NBA landscape at worst.

With how he is played, he probably should be a better playmaker though. I rather him embrace being a MJ/Kobe scorer though and getting a legit defensive PG and playmaker in the next 1-2 years though.
