Cleaned out the attic and found these in a folder. We finished the season on a 10-5 run but fell a game short of the Astros. The only hope then was to just make the playoffs. Grateful for where we are now but man the letdown is bigger when we don’t win it all.

I remember this. I was at the last game in DC and we were so excited they won then we got on the train and found out the team we needed to lose didn’t lose. I was so crushed.
I have such a hard time with the if you don’t win the World Series it is a failure mentality. I lived through too many sub . 500 seasons to view any playoff appearance a failure.
I’ll never forgive Billy Wagner give up that wild card clinching homer to Craig Biggio then have the audacity to talk crap after leaving for the Mets a year later
