Big W in the Big AppLe | Toyota Game Recap 12/6/2025

play. Don’t love that. But Rangers also 0 for two. The ABS had a great kill in the third, too, to keep them off the board. But let’s get to the highlights. Starting in the second period, the fourth line getting the job done. Great shot from Sam Molinsky and Parker Kelly with a perfect redirect. Fourth line had a beautiful shift right before this. Parker Kelly still out there. You can see Marty Nes takes that big hit along the boards and puts this in a perfect place. Parker Kelly pumped up for that goal. McKinnon coming on the ice. that first line replacing the fourth line, but from his knees, the tip to get the abs on the board. Now, that was Molinsk’s 15th point of the season, just so you know. He had 15 points in 76 games last season, which was a careerhigh. So, of course, great goal from Parker Kelly, but love to see Molinsky contributing as well. We head to the third period. This is where things get interesting. After a bit of a defensive miscue from the ABS, the Rangers would tie the game 1-1 here. Bit of a nothing play because the ABS have the Rangers hemmed in in the offensive zone in the Rangers defensive zone. You can see in the corners Devon Taves on the ice. I think Kale Mar thinks that it’s Taves on his left there and then realizes it’s Marty Nous who’s not a natural defenseman. So all of a sudden Sheri has him turned. Mar has to hustle back. Sheri with his first goal of the season to tie up the game. And then here comes the man, the myth, the legend himself, Nathan McKennon, batting the puck out of midair for his 23rd goal of the season gives the ABS that onegoal lead. Well, this pass from Josh Manson behind the back to Nous. And you heard Nate say, Marty Nas had a heavy one-time right there, that behind the back pass. And Marty Nes, this is heavy. So Shurken doesn’t handle it cleanly. McKinnon waits for that slight half second for the puck to drop below the crossbar and bats it in. There’s a little bit of a celebration there. Not as big as the overtime one, but that’s right. Nate was celebrating. Maybe Nate will get a call from the Rockies after this one. I mean, I don’t know. All right, so with about 40 seconds left in the game, it’s looking like the ABS have it. And then uh-oh, Paneran ties at 2-2. And it was an awfully high stick right before that from Paneran. Questionable. You you you could hear Nate say that they thought it was a high stick and the Rangers had a beautiful screen in front of Blackwood. So, he actually doesn’t see that puck until the very last second, but it goes bar down on him. So, there’s not a whole lot he can do. It’s a knuckle puck essentially. And then we head to overtime and Nathan McKennon gets it done. I mean, just unworldly performance from Nate right here. The tow drag, the backhand, and then the si to finish it is just perfect. Watch how Nate sheds Borggan right here. He creates about 10 to 12 feet of space, which allows him to sell shot. So when he cuts back, Borggan drops off because the Rangers legs are tired and it gives him that space to sell shot. He moves to the backhand and this is a perfect backhand shot. No reach back. And then there’s the celebration. The selling. That’s when you know it’s a big goal from Nathan McKinnon in the world’s most famous arena. That is right. I mean, anytime you see a s like that from any player, you know it’s a good one. But especially when it’s Nathan McKinnon. And you heard him telling Kyle Keefe, getting a goal like that at MSG. I mean, nothing better than that. It’s what you dream of. It’s what you dream of.
