Tread Athletics announced, and The Athletic’s Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma later confirmed, that the Cubs are presumed to have signed Collin Snider to a minor-league deal. The 30-year-old is coming off a breakout 2024 season with the Seattle Mariners, where he posted a 1.94 ERA and a 27.8 percent strikeout rate over 41.2 innings. He struggled in 2025, however, producing a 5.47 ERA over 24 games, and is now reportedly looking for a fresh start in Chicago.

We really went thrifting at the winter meetings
I’m fully convinced the Cubs will never sign a star free agent.
I mean if he can be anything close to that 24 season, that would be an incredible addition. Low risk incredibly high reward.
No such thing as a bad minor league signing. Cubs are going to do what they do every year and look for cheap under the radar moves that they think can be fixed in their pitch lab. See Brad Keller from last year.
I’m pretty confident the bullpen will not be shitty by August. Unless we’re 20 out and become sellers.
I’m getting second hand embarrassment from the front office. You let Schwarber leave again and then immediately went dumpster diving for a reliever. During the winter meetings no less. If they don’t start signing star level players here soon, I’m going to lose it.
