Jordan Love looks ahead to Denver Broncos: ‘They have really good players across the board’

Jordan, can you see yourself coming out of retirement to go quarterback a team, man? Uh never say never, but I don’t I don’t know. That’s uh good good for him. What’s the challenge this week? Yeah, I think uh you know, obviously they’re a very good defense. Um you know, probably one of the best defense we’ve seen all year and and the numbers are, you know, all kind of back that. Uh yeah, I think uh you know, obviously the pass rush they have um the sacks they’ve been able to uh generate and uh just I mean you look at the defense all across the board. I think they got really good players um and a really good scheme. So uh it’ll be a good test for us to be able to go out there and uh you know see what we can do as offense. Is there anything you could take from that match up against the Browns and their pass rush knowing that you’re going to face probably one of the best pass rushes in the NFL this Sunday? Yeah, I think anytime, you know, you got going against elite pass rushers and, you know, a good all-around rush is it’s all about, you know, playing on time as a quarterback, um, you know, obviously trying to get the ball out as quickly as possible, not trying to hold on to it sometimes. Um, and then, you know, really just knowing your checkowns are if you, uh, do feel some pressure and things like that, but, um, yeah, you know, you just got to go out there, find ways to execute, and, uh, if the pocket breaks down at times, try and find ways to escape. Um, but really just, you know, know where they’re, you know, their good pass rushers are are at at all times. um you know, we’ll be on silent count. So, that always plays, you know, another element of uh you know, them trying to time the the the cadence up and things like that. So, uh yeah, it’ll just be a good test. From the outside, it kind of feels a little bit like 2023 for this offense where you guys struggle early and you got really hot down the stretch. Does it feel like that at all internally? Um, you know, I’d say it’s different. You know, I think uh like you mentioned, I do feel like we’re in a really good place right now. And uh past couple weeks, we’ve been doing some some pretty cool things on offense and um you know, putting up a good amount of points, but you know, as we always say, I still think there’s more out there for us and um kind of like you mentioned in the 23 season, yeah, we we we started off slow and um I think find started finding things that worked for us and and getting that groove, but um yeah, I think right now we’re we’re getting some guys back healthy um which has been has been huge for us. And uh yeah, I think we’re we’re just playing at a high level right now. So, it’s something we just got to keep going and keep stacking, but um I’d say it feels a little bit different, but I think everybody’s got a lot of confidence what we’re doing right now. What is it about Matt that when you guys do find yourself in maybe a little bit of a rut midway through a season, he’s able to help you guys as an offense pull pull yourself out of that? Yeah, I mean, I think that all just plays a part in his play calling ability. Um you know, his ability to understand kind of what we’re doing well and just kind of the self scout we do. Um, and just like I said, figure out what we’re doing well, figure out what we’re not doing as well and uh kind of pivot on that and just keep doing those things and uh keep finding ways just to keep getting the the playmakers and guys who are going out there and making plays, keep getting them the ball. And so I think he does a good job at that. But, um, you know, we have I think we just got such a deep playbook where you can you can find different ways to to get guys involved and, um, like I said, if plays aren’t working, he’s he’s good at, uh, finding ways to adjust and especially in game. You know, if we go into it with a plan, uh, you know, a certain plan going into the game and, you know, they come out maybe different defense that we weren’t anticipating, you know, we’re able to make some pretty good in-game adjustments to get back um, and find put ourselves in a good position. Jordan, why do you think you’re hitting on some more of the down the field throws? And I’m not just talking about like the the goal balls, but just those those medium over the field 15, 20, 30 yard air shots. Why do you think you’re hitting on some more of those? I think it’s just, you know, the the trust we got in in me and the receivers and guys are winning on their routes and and getting open and making plays and, you know, I think the um, you know, the our relationship, everybody just, you know, knowing where we’re going to be, um, you know, having that timing down and obviously we’ve had a lot of guys who’ve been in this offense for a while and, um, just the trust, trust to know where guys are going to be at, how they’re running certain routes, I think is all there. It all plays a part in that. But, you know, I think, you know, I always try and do a good job of just making sure I give guys a chance and guys are making plays on, you know, if it’s a 50/50 ball, if it’s, you know, wherever the ball might be. Um, and there, and I think a big part of it is just receivers winning on on routes. Do you feel like you’ve gotten more accurate cuz your offtarget percentage is much much lower than it has been in the past. Definitely. You know, definitely. It’s something, you know, I’ve worked on and like I said, I think just the more reps you get, um, understanding where you need to put certain balls on on certain routes and, um, the type of coverage you’re seeing, just knowing where to go with it and feeling comfortable, um, at the timing and the trust of the receivers. I think all that plays a part in that. So, I definitely feel comfortable right now, uh, doing everything and, you know, that’s something that I I just try and uh, be as accurate as possible, be the best, uh, QB I can be on every play. Jordan, I know Bonito’s having a big year, but they’ve got like a whole bunch of guys that have, you know, multiple sacks throughout the course of the year. How much harder does that make it when when they just they have so many guys who’ve contributed to that big sack number? Yeah, you know, I mentioned before, but I think they have a really solid group all around, you know, it’s not just one guy that you can fingerpoint out, but um you know, all around that that defense and especially the D line, you look at it, they got playmakers and guys who are making plays um and winning their their one-on-one matchups. So, uh, yeah, it’s a little bit different than, you know, maybe a team that only has a one solid edge rusher that you’re trying to make sure you get chips and lock down that side, but, you know, you kind of got five guys who’ve all won at different times, um, versus different teams. So, uh, yeah, we just got to do a good job up front. You know, I got a lot of confidence in our line. They’ve been doing a great job and, uh, I think even them, they’ve been getting better and better as the season’s gone on, uh, and pass. So, uh, like I said, it’ll be a good test. Generally speaking, when you can make those checks at the line of scrimmage, is that behind that decision? Is that all film work? Is it the match up in the moment? Is there a field component to it? All the above, like what goes into some of those decisions? I mean, I think it’s all the above. You know, I think it’s, you know, the work we put in in in meeting room, you know, throughout the course of the week, game planning for a team and and, you know, the coaches do a good job of showing us all these different looks and and making sure we have a plan for whatever we’re going to see. Um, and obviously it comes down to us being able to go out there, recognize, you know, what coverages we’re getting and everybody to be on the same page when we start making checks to the line. Um, and just being dialed in, uh, so we can pick some of the protection stuff up we need to pick up and then obviously the receivers to be able to go out there and win uh, some of the routes. But, uh, it just takes everybody being dialed in. And I think that’s another area that, you know, we’ve grown in. You know, everybody being in this offense for a little while now has been able to grow and we’ve had moments where, you know, we we’ve got burnt and we haven’t been able to, you know, score touchdowns. Maybe if a team brings all out and I think you just got to learn and grow from those moments. Jordan, I asked you about Matt. What’s going through your mind late in the first half Sunday when you’re getting ready to go back on the field trying to put a twominute drive together and you see the clock raining down the way it was? Uh when we were on when the defense on the field, you’re saying? Yeah. Yeah. You know, it could have could have three timeouts. Could have stopped. You’re talking about the end of the game. End of the first half. Oh, I mean, uh, you know, anytime you’re on the sideline and, you know, kind of you get to that the end of the half where, um, you know, you’re on the sideline watching, you’re just hoping that you’re able to get, um, enough time to be able to put a drive together, um, really just see what the situation is. But, uh, yeah, I mean, it’s obviously the the time’s going down. You know, you’re thinking of different plays you might be getting to if you get an opportunity. And we’re all talking on the sideline about what we uh, want to get to depending on what the situation might be. But, you know, I think guys upstairs do a good job of u you know, kind of calculating what what how much time we might have left if we get the ball back and what the situation’s going to be and just making sure everybody’s on the same page. But, it’s one of those where you just you never know what’s going to happen if they might get a first down, end up get have to kick a field goal right there or even we get a takeaway. So, you just got to be ready for whatever. Is it important for a quarterback to have an idea or be queued in on on the game management part, the clock management part of things that your head coach is thinking or just kind of leave that? No, definitely. Uh, you definitely got to be keyed in, um, at all times. You know, I think that’s, uh, a very important part of the playing the QB position. Um, you know, especially in the end of half, into game, those two-minute situations, that’s when you got to be at your best. And, um, you know, that’s why we practice these situations all the time throughout practice to make sure everybody’s dialed in and and, you know, really just knows what we’re doing and knows what we need to do in in any situation. And you know, you go back to the Dallas game, how um you know, we almost ended the game in overtime uh by not even be able to get the playoff and and running out of time. So, uh just how how dialed in everybody has to be in those situations and like you said, kind of understand what Matt might be thinking as a play caller and and just what that situation is, what’s needed. Jordan, for you, uh you haven’t turned the ball over a lot this season, but anytime you have, you’ve responded, you can say, in a big way. Have you always had that, I guess, shake it off mentality since you played, or has that just kind of grown over time? Yeah, I mean I think uh you know you say I’ve always had that. I think it’s something that you know every every quarterback has to have. You know, every I mean every player on the football team has to have. You know, it’s it’s never going to be perfect out there. You know, you’ll make a a mistake at some point uh no matter you know what situation it is. You know, as a quarterback, you know, putting the ball in harm’s way, throw an interception. Uh you got to be able to bounce back at all times and uh you know, have tough skin, move on, and and just play the next play at at a high level and and try and forget it. you know, learn from it, but at the same time, forget about it and not let that carry over and, you know, hinder, you know, your performance or your confidence and throwing the ball downfield. So, uh, something you just got to keep going. You had that joint practice session last year in Denver. Could you see then that maybe they had things coming along in their defense? Definitely. Um, yeah, I mean, I think looking back at the joint practice, it it was one of those days where it wasn’t our best day as offense. And you know, I think you can credit them and their defense for some of the stuff they did. But, um, yeah, I mean, that’s that’s what I think the joint practice is cool. You get to go out there and, uh, obvious in preeason, uh, get to go see, um, a team and compare yourself to them and and see where you’re at. And, uh, yeah, it was definitely a time where we saw what they’re all about. And, you know, I think they’ve had a pretty good defense and and scheme for the last couple years. You know, we saw them a couple years ago as well in 23, but um, yeah, they got good players. And I think even this year they’ve added a lot more good players to that team. What makes what makes Certan so good? Yeah, I think he’s I think he’s just a smart corner. Um, you know, I think uh you look at his technique and everything he does, he does it at a very high level, but I think the next step for him is just uh his ability to kind of read what the receivers are doing and and just um you know, play that sticky coverage. You know, there’s sometimes you see on film where he’s breaking on things before the receivers even kind of breaking. So, um, I think it just goes into, you know, his film study, his knowledge of the game, and and his confidence in himself. But, yeah, I think he does a lot of a lot of things at a very high level. You’ve, uh, had quite a few of those games like Sundays where you had eight possessions, nine possessions. Does that increase the pressure when you go out there knowing that you only get another couple shots at even if it’s a third quarter? Definitely. Um, you know, you always anytime you go back on the field, you know, we have the mindset, we got to go maximize every possession. We always want to finish every drive in the end zone. Um if not that we want to finish with a kick, you know, a field goal or uh yeah, but you you always got to maximize every drive and like you said, you know, the uh thing we’ve been seeing the past couple weeks is teams been putting longer drives together and trying to run the ball, do different things. So, um yeah, I think in that case, you just got to you never know, you know, when might be your last possession. So, you just got to try and maximize every time.

  1. Jordan has always had that bounce back and move on mentality after throwing a pick. I watched all of his games at Utah State and his gunslinging tripped him up more than a few times but he always locked back in and kept on trucking. I am impressed now how much more disciplined he has become. Still a gunslinger, still aggressive but making better decisions. Go JLove#10! Go Aggies! Go Pack Go!

  2. Jordan, I am so proud of you. Not only a great quarterback, you are a beautiful human being. You always know the right things to say. You build up your teammates and coaches. You compliment to strengths of your opponents, so you do not get them excited by challenging statements. You never say anything negative, nor tear down people. Your humility as a man always shines through. You have learned so much from watching others in your life. Though Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers made some great quarterback plays, I much rather have you as our quarterback, because you are a better man. You are a wonderful representative of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin, your family, and yourself. We are rooting for you! P.S. Are you going to install heated toilet seats in your Green Bay house to fight off the cold winters? Randall Cobb liked the heated toilet seats in the bathrooms of Aaron Rodgers’s Green Bay house.

  3. Aye Love Love's journey. Sure there are low lows but the highs have been highs and I'm glad to be a fan and be on the Jordan Love ride for hopefully the next 10+ years. He's our guy, GO PACK GO!

  4. The puppies from a couple years ago have become DOGS! Love, Watson, and Reed are like a band reunion just at the right time!! Watson and Reed seemed to be in midseason form from the first snap and Love seems to be the 2023 Jordan Love where he was reading defenses like Tom Brady!! Add in Doubs, Jacobs, McKinney, Parsons, Enagbare, Gary, Bullard, Cooper, Evan Williams, etc this IS THE YEAR! Since I live in the West, I've seen a lot of the Bronco's!! They almost got beat by the pathetic Commanders a couple weeks ago and it had to go to overtime in that game just to get the win! Last week the pathetic Vikings smoked the Commanders in a shutout!! And the Broncos only beat the worst team in football, the Las Vegas Raiders by 7! If the Packers want homefield advantage they need to finish 4-0!! It's time for Super Bowl mode; they're clicking at the right time….let's roll!!

  5. Love is more Bart Starr than Favre or Rodgers and I just love him more and more how cool and smart he is without the Favre INT's and Rodgers narcissism!! And the way this teams LOVES one another is something really special, Gute and Matt have the team, now they just need to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Lambeau!!
