Dvorak, who was viewed by many as an overpaid stopgap when he signed a one-year deal in July, is on pace for a career-best 56 points. He's also formed quick chemistry with Zegras and Travis Konecny.

  1. Why is this even being entertained? The guy is a career fourth-liner having his best season at 29, and is still only on pace for 50-55 points. Definition of a player you sell high on at or before the TDL.

  2. Possibly. But I think he is deadline trade bait. So the better he does the higher the trade value.

  3. Whoa, maybe the guy that was on the fucking cover of NHL as a near child is just good and not being carried by a 29 year old having a career year playing with him.

  4. FWIW, Dvo and Zegras seem to have a great off ice relationship and I’m sure Zegras is learning plenty from him. If it takes having Dvo around for another year or two to transition Zegras’s game to a consistent full-200 ft C then there’s no issue really. I’d rather have someone helping Zegras to his full potential at C by the time he’s 26, and Dvo will fetch a return whether it’s this season or the next

  5. Well be moving him at the deadline for one reason: Porter Martone and probably Jett Luchanko need roster spots next year.

  6. No. He did his job this year. We need to bring the prospects up and let the chips fall where they should.

  7. Love Dvorak, but if you can get a first for him like Danny got for Sarge, you take it and run.

  8. I think the idea is to buy time to transition Zegras to centre and make room for our glut of wingers. Dvorak is probably having a career year because he’s playing with elite talent. Imagine Martone on his wing.

  9. The problem with keeping Dvorak is Couturier. The two of them are redundant over the long term, both bottom 6 defensive centers that can win faceoffs. Both nice players to have, but with Coots on an inflated contract, it kind of makes Dvorak a luxury that we can’t afford.

Hopefully Danny can trade Dvorak at the deadline, but I seriously think he needs to worry about losing the locker room. The vets on this team have endured endless losing, which is fine when it is the players on the ice causing the losing. But having a GM that ships out key talent when you’ve put yourself in position to compete in the playoffs, well that may not go over too well in the locker room.
