  1. Shutout was lost on a piss-poor effort on the power play that resulted in the penalty shot. You could see it with everyone – it’s like they were afraid to play hard or drive up the score.

Penalty shot wasn’t on ASP as it was a lazy effort to gain the zone by whoever had the puck (I forget now) and ASP just had to react. But not a single player was out there putting in any effort and Calgary capitalized. I’ve ragged on Gibson a lot – but he deserved better in this one.

  2. As far as trades go, I’d spend more time trying to get someone physical for this team. Once Calgary started getting a little chippy we played too cautious.

Imagine a big guy like Parayko on defense. Then imagine him playing 20 mins a game because he’s actually a tough guy who can play and watch how that helps our offense.

    There’s your difference maker…

  3. Cool to be riding a three game win streak and six game point streak. Now let’s add to that tonight versus the Edmonton McDavid’s. LGRWs

  4. I want to feel secure in the event that we find ourselves up 4-0. I was having San Jose flashbacks last night.

  5. Does anyone have a video of Chariot (i think) running into the back of ASP leading to the penalty shot? I wanted to see a better view and see why he ran into our own guy trying to enter the zone lol.

  6. Main thing is we got Gibby some confidence getting a few wins underneath his belt. Need 2 goaltenders here playing at their best coming up.. so crucial to have Gib firing on all cylinders.

  7. Red Wings are a fun team. Yep, they’re flawed, but show me a team in this division that isn’t. Enjoying the ride (though I’m only another 3-game losing streak from total depression)

  8. Cossa let in 4 last night on 29 shots. Watched the game, honestly thought he played well, outside the third period where he let in 2 quick goals that he should have had.

  9. Whether the Red Wings are involved or not, it seems inevitable Hughes is going to be traded this year. Vancouver media tied closely to their owner keeps releasing stories to prep the fan base for a move. That fan base deserves better than their ownership and management group, who refuses to rebuild but can’t assemble a serious contender. It reminds me of the post-Datsyuk, Holland era Red Wings refusing to sell anything of value (when we actually had things of value, before their statistical decline) to avoid a rebuild that was clearly inevitable. Imagine if we had a top 5 pick in 2016, 2017, or 2018 (although maybe we’d have just picked Zadina anyway).

For the Hughes stuff, it only makes sense if we are granted access to him/his agent to have serious discussions about whether he’d re-sign with us. It would be tragic to move Ed/ASP (pick one), Kasper/Danielson (pick one), and a 1st (plus?) only to have him walk. That cost is painful but reasonable if we get Hughes for the rest of his career, and I doubt he’d lie about future intent to not re-sign (because he has no reason to do so).

  10. Guarantee some of the game thread sickos are the ones sliding in players DMs when their parlay doesn’t hit lol

  11. I really like Copp. He was upfront and honest in his post-game interview, and he had some really good observations about how the team played.

  12. Man ASP really seems to have problems with plays along the blue line on the PP. there’s been what 3,4 shorthanded goals that directly came from him mishandling pucks there?

  13. Little worried about tonight. They’re a bit beat up, winning four in a row is hard. Hope they got some rest last night and Talbot is a brick wall.

Also feel a bit bad for ASP. He’s not going to forget that for a while and Todd says pretty consistently he’s hard on himself, too hard at times.

  14. Since Copp seems to be working well with Kane and Cat, and Danielson seems to have some chemistry with Finnie, maybe Kasper can finally get a look next to Larkin and Raymond again. I’d love to see a deep dive on what’s going on with Kasper. He’s not generating offense, and more concerning, he’s having less impact defensively too. Honestly I’ve been intentionally watching him a lot more over the past few games and there are a lot of instances where he seems to be just kind of floating without that aggressive element he brought last year (and Finnie brings this year).

  15. Sounds like the Hughes trade chatter is all over the Canucks locker room so that’ll probably force Rutherford’s hand sooner than later if every day they’re all just discussing when their own Captains getting shipped out.

  16. When the game went to 4-3 pretty sure I said out loud “if they lose this game it’s going to be a long time til I can forgive them”

Glad I don’t have to worry about it anymore

  17. Has “spicy meatball” happened? I heard about the sphincter comment last night but have we gotten “spicy meatball “ yet?

  18. With 50 games to go, the Griffins are over halfway (41) to the point total they ended last season with (80).

  19. Two weeks till Christmas and I haven’t bought a single gift yet. Sounds about right.
