The Mavs are holding opponents under 33% from behind the arc so far this year, which is the best in the NBA

  1. They’re also limiting attempts per game. They’re objectively good at defending the 3. I’ve heard several local podcasters say it’s just shooting luck and that it’s the attempts that matter. Well they do that well too.

  2. Opposing teams’ 3FG% is a pretty noisy stat and indicates the defense may just be getting lucky more than anything.

  3. Good stat to build on.

Need shots to fall and I think most will find shooting percentages are increasing with Nemby.

    Thus we are now winning.

DEFENSE allows you to win which is why that Det team has championships and frankly many other teams too. Bball ain’t just scoring or dribbling out shot clock for 18 of 24 seconds. It’s a melody.

Defense sounding good. Let’s see if Nemby can keep the offense melodic. If so, I expect to keep winning at a good clip.

  4. This is unexpected but probably due to our bigs missing a bunch of games. I thought opponent 3 point% was going to be sky high with our proposed Oops All Big Guys lineups. “Fortunately” AD/Lively/Gaff have been injured most of the season.

  5. Would we rather hold teams to a lower percentage outside the 3 or inside the paint?

If AD and gaff are healthy, those numbers should improve.. not sure where Mavs rank inside the paint …

  6. We might have the best collection of Wings in the league. Naji, Klay, PJ, and Coop really lock shit down
