What a pile of…
The Montreal Canadiens are in Colorado facing off against the league’s best team. Montreal’s on a three-game winning streak. Colorado just lost after a long winning streak. 10 games, I think. Can Montreal feed Colorado their second loss in a row? Let’s talk about it. [Music] This was another early game. I’ve watched the entire game at this point. Sometimes I will do my recap on the fly, but I know the outcome of this game. And uh I I might as well tell you right off the bat, the outcome is not good. But if you’re watching this video, probably you’re coming here because you want to hear my opinions on what happened to the game. And I definitely have a lot of opinions on this one. But I had to watch this game a couple of times. My wife was at work. I watched this game with my 5-year-old and my one-year-old. I wasn’t absorbing everything, as you can imagine. But let’s get right into it. And uh I’m going to start where we always start because we always start at LA. So no, our forwards Cfield, Suzuki, Bulk, Slavovsky, Kappa, Demidov, Texier, Evans, Anderson, Jackey, Valeno, Gallagher, No Defons, our defenseman, Mat, Dobson, Arbor, Jacai, and Hudson, Angstrom and Kerier. Finally, no Galdier, our goalies. Do is starting tonight. He is the sacrificial lamb and uh Montbo will sit on the bench. Spoilers all night. All night. All day, I guess. So, Jaden Strubal is out with an upper body injury. Uh there’s a clip earlier in the day of him playing sewer ball. So, I don’t think it’s a serious upper body injury, unless he got it while he was playing sewer ball or getting ready to jump on the ice. Either way, Jackie moves up with uh Hudson. Actually, I don’t think he played very much with Hudson at He played mostly with Cavier. I think that’s right. You know, he was mostly invisible, which is probably a a credit to him, but Cavier finished minus three on the night and I think Jackie finished minus two. Hudson finished minus one. Angstrom finished even. And Angstrom played like 14 minutes tonight. So did Arbor. Anyway, the game’s starting. You’re hoping that Yuri Slavovski can continue his success being uh a player that looks like he could be the engine for a line. You’re hoping that Dobesh doesn’t get lit up too much because again the the confidence issues are are scary. But I’m sure they’re going into this game realizing that they’re playing against the best team in the league and they’re kind of on fire fire right now. The ABS have some injuries. Uh they’re not like uh insignificant injuries either. Val Nutrushkin O’ Conor I think. And there’s someone else that is injured. I can’t remember who it is, but they’re also a pretty important individual on the team. The thing is, the injuries on the Montreal Canadians are like players you really hope were going to show up this season and and Alex New Hook actually does really hurt losing, especially when you’re playing the Avalanche, which is uh his former team. You’re hoping that he gets a gimme goal against his former team, which seems to happen around the league. It’s not just it’s not just to us. So they drop the puck on this one before the twominute mark. Evans gets a great opportunity, but a weak shot. He had time here. He should have lined this up better. Now we see Brock Nelson clipping Bul Dick. And I want you to check this out. Bulick gets clipped here. Does he even react to it? No, he doesn’t. One of the officials notices that he gets clipped and a penalty is called. He doesn’t fling his head backwards. He doesn’t fall onto the ice like he’s been gravely injured. He continues the play and uh you know plays on. I like that. So the Montreal Canadians are going on the power play and what a power play. Bulk gets a one-time easily. Could have found the back of the net on this one, but doesn’t get past Blackwood. Black I was going to say wedgewood, but uh they’ve got a lot of wood on their team. I think that they call the goalender tandem the log pile, wood pile, lumberyard, something like that. Now Suzuki gets an opportunity in front, but Blackwood stuffs him. And before the power play is up, Gallagher, this is an open net. He can’t uh Blackwood gets over in time. He can’t get it above the pads. So, Montreal starts the game off really well. They were up, I think, at one point 9 to3 in shots, 8 to three in shots or something to that effect. And you felt like eventually they will find the back of the net and they’ll probably be the one striking first. But Nelson makes it one- nothing. Little give and go started. Keeping Rans Nelson shoots scores. This is just a breakdown. I guess you could call it a breakdown. It’s like a mish happening of several factors here that allows this goal. Uh first of all, Kavier uh is finding a guy on Arbor Jacy’s side here. There’s confusion. There’s definitely confusion. Jackie is confused where he needs to go, where who he needs to find. And Kier at this point manages to tripey with his skate. So that leaves nobody to guard Nelson. Nelson gets in front and he gets his shot past Doh glove side. Just a very unfortunate circumstance. But if you want to blame someone here, definitely blame Cagier who has been taking a lot of blame recently. Now we see Cavier and Hudson together. Jakai has been benched for a few shifts because naturally he got tripped by Cer and you know Cavier should be the one riding the pine at this point, right? This doesn’t this doesn’t make any sense. Anderson gets a chance here, but he can’t get above Blackwood’s pads. Another close one for the Canadians. Anderson was rushing in, and lucky for Blackwood, he’s able to push himself and just get his toe on it. Really feels like at this point, Montreal could be winning the game if things just went their way for once. But with all this momentum, surely Montreal will respond. Ross Colton, burst of speed, cutting in, lost the puck, drops it back, and is it in? And so Nelson’s got his second of the period and two nothing for the Avalanche. Okay, so this was called a goal on the ice right away. Mind you, it was it was called a goal. They figured this is very strongly a goal. It’s at this point that I open up the NHL app and check who’s officiating this game. And wouldn’t you know it, it’s Garrett Rank. Garrett Rank was the referee who officiated the Edmonton game that was completely a snafu snafu. So, we watched the replay back. Maltan St. Louisie decides whether or not he wants to challenge this. And to me, this looks like 50/50. If the officials called for a review and they watched it back, they would see that Landis Cog is the one that initiates contact with Gobesh, and the contact is what causes the goal. But Josh Anderson is also in contact with Landisk. So, I’m thinking a tie goes to the runner. Don’t challenge this because unless there is a beyond reason of a doubt that this is definitely not goalender interference or I should say that it is goalender interference, they’re they’re not going to call this one back. But Milean St. Louis chooses to challenge this one. Also, doesn’t help that uh you think that Garrett Rank is a little bit of a unreliable narrator. Let’s say takes no time at all. Comes back that it it remains a goal. Montreal two-minute bench penalty. So, it is what it is, and that’s the phrase that’s going to stick with me in this game. Lots of things piled against the Montreal Canadians in this one, and you just kind of have to take your lumps. Time winds down in the first. Montreal looks strong initially, but the ABS got lucky one and a half times and uh you’re facing the best team in the league. It’s a daunting mountain to climb and there’s an avalanche on that mountain, so we move on. Second starts Mat Spinorama right in front of Blackwood, but he sees the backhand fights it off. Lechinan here should have been called behind the play on holding. Gets tied up with Suzuki who tried to jump in on the play but was interfered with definite miss by the officials here. And the very next play I believe official re shot off the draw. Score. Burns makes it three nothing off the draw. Should have never happened. This should have been on a Montreal power play at this point, but again, it is what it is. Now, the Avalanche are going to make it four nothing. Nelson shoots. He gets one. Rebound behind the net. They took a goal away. Tried to get another one. They just in. Nelson. Mat turns over the puck here. It’s uh it’s it’s pretty brutal. Nelson goes on the break, misses the net. The defense doesn’t get set up in the zone properly. Dobson is confused and Nelson gets in front of him, taps it in. Doish also overcommits here and gets out of place which doesn’t help either. So 4 nothing and really piling it on at this point. Yeah, it’s you’re in depression status. Uh if you’re a Montreal Canadian, you’re just hoping that they don’t beat up Dash too hard and maybe you get one goal. Demi Dov dropping it back. Spin around as Lukovski cutting it across. Score. What a passing play. Ivan Demidov 41. Uh take a moment here and appreciate this one. This is almost worth uh the buttkicking that the Habs take in this game. Slavovski. He Oh my gosh. Spinama. The only ABS that don’t look like completely jked and uh confused here is Molinsky who looks like he smoked his pregame meal because he’s standing behind Blackwood for some reason. Incredible goal here. Slafkovski makes Nelson look like a pylon. You love to see it. Maybe that’s going to give the Montreal Canadians some life. And it does give them some life. Florian Jackey makes it 42. He’ll work it up quickly. Demi off. Florian Jack eyee broke his stick. Looking for his Nah, just joking. His his stick broke, which is really all you need to know about this game. Looking for his first goal. Stick breaks just as he’s about to squeeze the trigger and put it in. Yeah. sums up the game nicely. Now we see Nasis grapin’s stick. He goes down to the ice holding on to Captain’s stick. Kappan tries to retrieve his stick. Tries to get it back. This should be a penalty called on NIS obviously, but Garrett Rank sees this and he says this is going to be a great time to give the Canadians a penalty here. And he does. They both get penalties offsetting penalties. It’s going to be four on four. But new to the game, keep this in mind that from now on, if you try to retrieve your stick from an opposing team’s player, you’re going to get a penalty. And on the ensuing four, guess what happens? That is a little bit of space. Shoots the big rebound score. Yeah. McKinnon makes it 51. What do you want me to say? The second ends. Let’s Let’s just go to the third period, man. Oh, yeah. This next one’s a fun one. Dobson, good opportunity here. Good chance in front. He overcommits. Yeah, but he is on the attack trying to make something happen for the Montreal Canadians who are down big time. He can’t solve Blackwood. And then he’s getting hooked here by Nathan McKinnon that goes unpenalized because of course. And yeah, ju just take a look at this. I’ll slow it down. So he’s overcommitted. He’s getting hooked interfered with so he can’t get back on the play. Of course, the ABS are going to go back the other way with it. And Montreal has a defenseman that is being hooked behind the play and getting tripped up. Guess what happens? Guess what happens? A twoon-one develops. Dobson, of course, is behind the play. And Nas is going to make it 6-1. Across Chase back Mat here is stuck defending. Uh he’s the only one back. Another goal that should have been a Montreal power play, so it is what it is. Now, finally, some good news. Maybe they felt bad for that last one. Taves takes a penalty on Bulkick. Montreal is headed to the power play and Montreal capitalizes. He’ll delay. Cfield waiting. Hudson one time B. Score. Lane Hudson 62, his fourth goal of the season. Great shot from the top of the slot here. Hudson buries it. This is a great shot from Hudson. He’s been putting on heavier shots recently and this is a good one. So, another little bit of a silver lining. I think Suzuki and Caulfield also get apples on this one. Oh, we’re not we’re not done with the the BS yet. Evans takes a high stick on McKinnon here, but I cannot for the life of me find the high stick. The camera does not capture the face off, but still I’m going to show the the entire play. Evans does not catch McKinnon with a high stick. I’m going to crop it here so I don’t get caught by the copyright clowns. Anyway, Montreal goes on a power play that I could be legitimate. I don’t know. Oh, it doesn’t look legitimate because we didn’t see the penalty. And guess what happens on the power play? Yes. Hands it off. McKinnon shoots deflect. 724 Colorado tipped in front on the power play. I wish I knew why there was a power play, but like I said, it is what it is. Garrett Rank is officiating this game, so it is what it is. As the game is winding down, Doash is making big saves, standing on top of his head, all that good stuff. I wish he would have made seven other big saves, but honestly, he didn’t play that bad of a game. you just got hung out to dry quite often. Anyway, let’s finish off this video. It is what it is. Again, before the end of the game, Montreal has sustained zone time. They’re making Colorado look like uh they’re being played with a little bit, which reminds you that this game started pretty good for the Montreal Canadians. And then it just became a mess of uh Dookie. That’s going to end it 72 for the Colorado Avalanche. Uh another garbage game. Just throw this one away. Don’t think about it too much. I’d hope that Dobbash doesn’t take this very hard on himself. But at least they kept Dobash in net all night because Montbo would have been lit up as well. This was just a ridiculous game. A real dog’s dinner. And I now am on high alert for Garrett rank games. That’s going to do it for me guys. Thank you so much for watching. Thank you so much for your support. You know what to do. The Canadiens fell 7–2 to the Avalanche in Denver — Colorado dominated from start to finish. Brock Nelson led the way with two goals and two assists, reaching the 600-point milestone, and Gabriel Landeskog also scored twice while Nathan MacKinnon chipped in a goal and two assists. The Avalanche quickly established a 4–0 lead and never looked back. For Montreal, Ivan Demidov and Lane Hutson got the goals, but the team struggled to contain Colorado’s rush-offense.

Frustrating game! But you knew this would be a mountan with an Avalanche on it, I'm just glad the roadtrip was mostly good.
Hope you're all doing well – gonna go get to bed because I wanna be fresh again tomorrow. Have a good night guys and girls.

Avs (Nordiques) have set the bar….it's up to the boys to rise to it or remain under it. Great learning lesson for these young guys. Let's see what they do with Ottawa this week, that's their test
Habs are NOT that team… the Av's.. the Av's ARE that team. (Amos Burton)
Was hoping for a closer game but the second that they called it a good goal on the obvious interference (landeskog completely took anderson out by turning right into him) i knew it was gonna be a frustrating one. Hard to get the mindset back into it after a few bad calls go against you. the lads were playing tilted all night and that's a recipe for a blowout that should've been a lot closer.
Refs unaccountability is ruining the nhl
Its time to start boycotting nhl until they clean up the ref garbage and get rid of pride nights
Damn, this is some sour grapes here. Cope and seethe about the officiating. With good officiating, Habs still lose. Tough to win games when your defense is out there unironically tripping each other up.
Refs were atrocious again… also looked like the boys might have celebrated in vegas after that win as well
That francophone comment is uncalled for!!
the outcome was great lol
the avs are kinda on fire ? yea just went 11/13 in November and 13/13 games with points lol possible 26 points got 24 no big deal lol
Garret Rank. That is why. Plain and simple yeah we probably wouldve lost but not to that degree. Absolutely HORRENDOUS officiating and same ref from the Oilers game, dude was out there just making up phantom penalties for whoever. They even staring right at them dont call penalties that would be penalties anyday of the week. Than literally gives us the penalty for roughing..If the ref doesnt do his job the players will so of course he is going to react when the ref is staring right at them and doesnt call anything.
Not even Dobes fault. Whole heartedly blame the officiating. Garret is the biggest POS and in every game now if he is on, it is going to be a wash. Soon as i saw his name i was like welp… that pretty much sums up how this one is going to go.
Good news is, we will get to watch the Avs get absolutely dicked by the stars once again in playoffs so that is a bonus. Game was brutal officiating. Garret Rank should NEVER be on that ice plain and simple. Dude needs to be fired.
Refs are terrible every game. The takeaway from this game is that the Habs got scored on six times at even strength with the majority of the goals coming due to defensive breakdowns.
the goal interference, the guys that covered the one that rushed our goalie, didnt touch him, he tripped because the one he covered FALL on him, the goaler wasnt able to do his job BECAUSE the puck was right where these 2 were sliding right beside him in the blue zone, it was clearly a NO GOAL, if the puck were in BEFORE he get the interference thats when you say its good, if its synchronized like this ITS NOT GOAL, then why that freaking rule then -.-
Habs are missing a whole top 9 line, playing 4 rookies, 3 games in 4 nights against 3 good teams on the road
No excuses, they can play better.
Slaf and Demidov are a good duo, they are a top 2C from having a better chance
Ghule is sorely missed you can’t run Matheson as much as he’s playing. 5 minutes way too many for Chaos Gazelle…
Being Blais up need some size, preferred Florian with Evans Andy
Gally doesn’t have the foot speed nor does Florian so expecting their forecheck to work is not ideal against fast skilled teams
Blais over Texier against big teams is what I’d do.
Florian back with 17-71
Now, here's the thing about the controversial goal, and why Marty probably lost his challenge.
There is no goalie interference, because indeed, it is Anderson's skate that pushes Dobes. Watch it carefully.
Marty probably challenged that, and lost.
What should have been challenged is the fact that Landeskog does interference on Anderson, causing them to crash into Dobes.
If St-Louis had challenged that, and not the goalie interference, he might have won.
Might be the most cope I’ve ever heard in my life. Montreals defense is just dogshit. Get over it
I find it extremely frustrating that so many people are surprised at Carrier's performances and are throwing him under the bus.
Last season he was mostly paired with Mike Matheson, Canadien's number 1 defenseman.
This year he's playing with Xhekaj… The Canadien's number 8…
People REALLY need an explanation?
You can't have good stats when you're spending 50% of your ice time mopping up after your partner's every mistake!
good lord your team got steamrolled and your complaining about super iffy non calls… the avs had one power play until half way into the third until montreal was just taking frustrating loser penalties at that point. They got out worked all game especially the second period. they didnt touch the puck for over ten minutes and had no answers when colorado was buzzing on them.
The Avs are on a revenge tour this season against the Stars, and the Canadiens just happened to be in the way.
Gotcha… Avalanche are the luckiest team in the NHL.
Honestly, this is game was a pretty good example of "Officiating decides the game", yeah the Avalanche played pretty well but they got the few extra pushes ahead from the officiating. I don't think it's Dobes' fault, even some of the Habs said (during the after game media conference/can't remember who, was it Gallagher or Matheson?), said that it was not his (Dobes) fault and that they left him out to dry (as you said as well). As a goalie too (I can't fully relate, since I'm nowhere near these guys' level), but it's very difficult to deal with when games like this happen. I really hope he doesn't beat himself up over this and that he and the Habs can come on strong on Tuesday against the Senators. Great video!
Even if Necas held the stick, he was being sat on, basically held, and then the habs player tried to start a fight. The call seemed fair to me that they both went to the box.
Apparently the Avs just got lucky all game LMAO
7:59 Where is the hold here? Lekonens hands never leave his stick.
I'm from Finland. Started following Habs because of Laine. I don't have the means to watch the games, I only watch your recaps. So I would prefer if you don't spill the beans early in the video or show revealing score boards in the thumbnail.
But I'm just 1 little dude, so you do as you like. I've subscribed and your videos are entertaining and informative either way.
Think avs just annoyed losing to wild(division)
Habs forwards tried best , defence wasn't great against breakaway play
That's on habs not refs
How do you say sour grapes in French?
😂😡🤬💩🤡
The refs were irrelevant to the pants down spanking the Habs got.
Can we trade Coach ???? I just wish goalies win a game let them play out the streak poor Dobes MSL should of pulled for his confidence.
Someone watched the game with their sore Montreal glasses on. Sorry bud, your team got waxed, even if you make believe it was a conspiracy.
Complain much?
The algorithm sent me your video, and as an avalanche fan I want to say that you were pleasant to listen to and I enjoyed what we had to say. Just to add a little extra information to why the coaches challenge was an unwise decision, they were planning on calling a penalty on the play anyways. I was at the stadium and the corner ref had his hand up to call for a penalty before calling it a good goal. Even if the Canadians won the challenge they would have gone on the penalty kill regardless. Considering it if it was a 50/50 call it seems like it it was almost lose-lose to challenge the play. If you win you go on a penalty kill, if you lose the Avs get a goal and you go on pk. I look forward to checking back in on your videos the next time our teams play! Keep up the good work! Not sure I agree with your assessment on all of the calls outside of that, but I think we both root for our own teams. Good luck in the playoff race and the East!
yeah as an avs fan those are a lot of missed calls, but also, i felt like the avs deserved some calls going their way after like atleast 25 missed calls vs the wild the night before.
What a sorry ass video 😂 yall got fucking waxed and you act like the refs cost you the game. Maybe acknowledge the major gap in talent between the Canadians and Avs 🤷♂️
Just letting you know that for some reason hasn't been putting my subs high up on the suggested list. I knew there was a game so I came looking.
This is how the Aves play every night. And like it or not they get away with more of these little moves to get the win. They are the Kansas City Chiefs of the NHL right now. Refs like this are why sports are going to be nothing but for the betting game. Look for more controversial gaming incidents like the NBA/ MLB incident from this summer.
The cope is real.. habs just couldn't compete with this wagon
WOW! What a homer! I mean I get it, but the Habs got crushed, none of the so called bad calls would have made any difference in the outcome.
