Travis Kelce Opens Up On Chiefs Tough Loss Against The Texans

Both topics to wrap up week 14. Let’s start with Sunday night football. Chiefs 10, Texans 20. Trev, I’ll let you take it away, brother. Yeah, man. It’s uh it’s been a tough go around for the past two days. Yeah, it’s just ah you put in all this work in hopes that it pays off and right now it just for whatever reason, man, it’s little things. It’s I don’t know, discipline. And I feel like I’ve always had the answers in years past and this year it just I just can’t find them. And I keep thinking if I show up to work and I put in the work and I fix the issues uh through my practice habits and through uh through perfecting the game plan and my fundamentals and what I’m being taught and go out there and try and play my ass off for my guys next to me. It’s it’s all going to come together like it has in years past and this year is just not, man. Um, not to say that I won’t keep doing that. It’s all that I can do. It’s all that I I’m going to always show up to work and [ __ ] give it my all. And if there’s a game to be played, I’m going to [ __ ] make it the most important game of the world. Yeah. Um, but obviously looking at the the playoffs, this is a tough reality to be in. Um, especially with um I don’t know, just how how we’ve always found a way in years past. So, it’s uh it’s a shitty [ __ ] feeling, especially dropping the [ __ ] ball late in the game like that when we were on our last [ __ ] chance to make something shake. It’s a shitty feeling, man. I hear you. Uh you put in all this work to, you know, be there for your guys and I just I just wasn’t that I wasn’t I got to point out I think that that catch would have been pretty damn impressive catch. That was a tough one to I mean, you’re running all the way over here and you’re trying to reach back. I know you always hold yourself to a high standard, but that would have been a tough catch. I’ll say this again, it’s another game that was right there, right? Like, and we knew going into it the Texans had a great defense. We knew Chiefs had a great defense and it was going to come down to the team that made the fewest mistakes. And at the end of the day with the drop passes and things at the end of the game, even throughout the game, there were multiple times where you guys had the opportunities. And it just like it’s just been a very weird year for the Chiefs. And you guys have been in I mean what is it seven straight? This was the first time in what nine seasons you guys aren’t going to win the AFC West or whatever it is since 2015. You know I think sometimes the ball just doesn’t fall your way and you guys have had the epitome of that this year. Yeah. I don’t know. I know it’s frustrating. I know that you know it’s the competitor you are and you know how badly you want it, how badly Pat wants it. the work you guys put in. So, I feel for you for sure. Um, and I know that that game in particular was a frustrating one because of what it meant, but it’s frustrating. But, um, we got four games left and uh, go put my [ __ ] heart on the line for these guys because they deserve that. Chiefs Kingdom, you guys deserve that. And we’re going to keep this thing [ __ ] rolling, man. What is the mindset? You guys just one game at a time. Just got the Chargers this week. Just Yeah. I mean, obviously we we don’t necessarily control our own destiny at this point. Like I said, we need some things to happen outside of us winning all our games. Um, so that’s all you can do, man. You got the Chargers coming in and you just get after them. I just feel like if you guys get the 10 and seven this year in the AFC that that’ll sneak in at a wild card. But one game at a time. Yep. Four games left. Yeah. What do the Chiefs have to get fixed the most? What What are you guys most focused on? critical situations towards the end of the game showing up. I mean, obviously drop passes. Drop pass drops are the things that stood out to me watching it. Miss blocks and key situations that could, you know, spark big runs, um, spark big plays and, uh, scoring touchdowns. You got to score touchdowns in this league, man. And, um, field goals aren’t going to aren’t going to cut it. I think it’s just details on, uh, on all phases. Um, even though I thought our our defense [ __ ] showed up and played a hell of a game against the the Texans this week. Chris Jones, my god, he was showing his heart, man. That’s for sure. Spags was dialing up all these blitzes. I mean, it was it was a fun game to watch from the defense for sure. They were they were doing everything they could. And shout out to the Texans, man. They made plays when they needed to. They got good players over there, man. That defense is freaking it’s the best in the NFL right now. And Demo Ryan, it’s kind Dude, every single person on that staff I played with in Philly. It’s kind of amazing considering how they all have like and not a lot of them weren’t even there together. Like Demo is the head coach, Matt Burk’s the DC, Cory Unland’s in the back field. Billy Davis, who was the DC when Chip was here, is the linebacker’s coach. I mean, it’s when whenever I’m at a Houston, I’m like, “God dang, this is like former Philadelphia right here.” But, uh, yeah, they’re rolling on defense, man. Those guys are doing a great job coaching those guys up and they have great players. I do got to shout out Esapo. Played good, man. The biggest thing I was worried about was the offensive line. And he played against who I think is one of the best players in the NFL and has been for a while, the Neil Hunter. And he he held his own. More than held his own. No, he came in he came in and and and Yeah, I was extremely proud of him. Happy as hell for him. Uh when I tell you, man, you want to talk about a guy that was just [ __ ] happy to play ball, man. Yeah. out there, high energy, no matter what the situation was, seemed like he was ready to [ __ ] get after it. That’s awesome. A guy like that who’s just kind of itching at the bit to be able to get out there and show show the world what he’s got, man. The big athletic guy, man. And um happy as hell for him. Just wish we could have got the win for him. We got the Chargers this week, obviously coming off a a win against the Eagles as we’re about to get into, man. Um a team we know, a team that knows us, uh and they’re rolling, too. Hard ball’s got them playing their best [ __ ] ball and um Herbert’s playing lights out and uh yeah, we’re gonna have our hands full.

Jason and Travis Kelce talk the Chiefs Texans game and what Travis is willing to do to right the ship.

  1. Having to retire after this terrible season will be a tough pill to swallow, but it’s time. He better find something to keep him busy, ‘cause Taylor ain’t gonna let him sleep late.

  2. Didn’t Taylor teach Travis about karma? Travis cheated the Lions with an incomplete pass and now there is zero doubt it was an incomplete pass. 😊

  3. Head High Travis!!!…it's difficult to win all the time, but the Chiefs have an unbelievable record, so do your best and leave it on the field, as Your legacy does not change!!

  4. One thing about Kelce is that he takes accountability and never has a bad word to say about his teammates. Maybe a bit too much on your plate. This too shall pass. 🤎🤎

  5. You can’t win every game it’s impossible it’s sports but if you look back on the career kelce had he should go out looking up a a great career and lucky enough to play with Patrick not very many nfl players can do what Kelce did in his career future hof

  6. So…he screams in his coach's face, throws his helmet, makes obscene hand gestures to an NFL official, screams at team mates on the field, drops continuous "F" bombs on his podcast, refuses to speak with the media(part of his contract)…and he is up for "Man of the Year". Says a lot about the NFL and our society. You are a good role model Mr. Swift!

  7. Everyone predicting he’s for sure retiring and it’s an easy guess but I think the exact opposite. People think he will retire in a season where they didn’t even have a shot at the Super Bowl and didn’t make the playoffs? If you know Travis, you know he’s not going out like that. Be fr

  8. stop crying trav, i think its time to hang it up. appreciate what you have done for the chiefs thru out tour career. no need to continue. its time to clean the house anyway
