Kyle Tucker not a good fit for Mets?

Let’s talk about some guys. Kyle
Tucker seems like a perfect response to losing
Pete. Alonso, Tony, are they in on Tucker, for real the Mets. I
have not heard any smoke signals to that, and that
doesn’t mean that they’re not. And I agree with every single thing
that Gary Cohen just said like they should be you have 60 home
runs and a heck of a lot of RBIs that you need to replace
with people on. So, and Brandon Mo gone. Kyle Tucker is the best player available. Yeah, position player available
in free agency. He’s most likely better than
anything you could find on the trade market and if you
found Nothing better. You have
to give up a boatload to get it. So I agree with Gary. I think this
is a market that maybe takes a little bit longer to shake out
but I would hope that the Mets are in and out the ends. All
right, let’s assume Bellinger’s back to the Yankees. So then
there’s Kyle Tucker and then everyone else is it is that big of a gap. So if
you want to make a move that can restore the fan base, you’re
trying to win this year. So Juan Soto window. Heroic next
3-4 years of Juan Soto is prime, are you trying to win a
World Series or not? I just look at the drop off their work.
I’ll Tucker. Comps on this Market. Sure you could. All right we
don’t want to go 10 years for Kyle Tucker, 400 million
dollars, I get it but the Mets have the money. They just let Pete Alonso walk. You’re not getting 40 home run
production out of college
soccer, but you’re getting something close to it. I’m assuming
they’re not getting Cody
Ballinger. They better get Kyle Tucker
right I think I’ll Tucker is a great player. I think he
doesn’t fit the David Stern’s mold that we’re starting to see
right now it does is because the fact is you replace Brandon
Nimbo with an offense. Have guy in the same position
necessarily. That’s not a better Fielder, and it’s all
about run prevention. There’s this myth out there that Kyle
Tucker somehow betters your defense. He really
doesn’t, you look at his metrics and they’ve declined. The last
couple of years 0r defensive run, save last season in 2024. And so and 25, as you
say, so with all of what has been
such a discipline offseason to eliminate some of the most
popular guys here to create, run prevention, run
prevention, starts with arms and That’s not going to fit that
mold plus. It’s a long deal. It’s going to have to be a
long deal with me. A lot of people in on him, seven eight,
nine years for a guy like Kyle Tucker. So I
love the guy as a hitter. I don’t think he’s the fit right
now for the Mets which then brings up the question.
Well, who

On Baseball Night in NY, Anthony DiComo states the case for and against Kyle Tucker to the Mets. While certainly appealing, it doesn’t appear they are in heavy right now, and Todd Zeile isn’t sure he fits the Stearns mold.

  1. If Tucker gets the 9-10 year deal he wants I’d avoid it, but if his market doesn’t get there and he takes a short term, high AAV deal with options you gotta jump on that.

  2. Stop talking about run prevention. I get it the Mets need to be better defensively but you ALSO have to score runs! Who in the lineup right now other than Soto can do that consistently ?

  3. The more I hear about the Stearns 'fit' the more I'm starting to believe in unicorns. Who is this magical creature that will sign for 3 years or less, below market value, is 27 years old and can hit homers like Alonso and close like Diaz.
