Cleveland Guardians STRIKE Adding Colin Holderman RHP Bullpen Big Dude Big Velocity #mlb #guardians
The Cleveland Guardians have added Colin Holdererman, a right-handed pitcher, to their bullpen. I’m Jeff Ellis of Lockdown Guardians, and let’s get into the newest Cleveland addition and what it means about the offseason so far. Colin Holderman is a 6’6 right-handed pitcher who had pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, dealt with injuries last year, but when healthy, he was an effective pitcher for the Pirates, a guy who brings big-time velocity and a great sweeper. Now, the problem with a sweeper is while it is a very effective pitch against, you know, if you’re a right-handed pitcher, it’s great against right-handed hitters, it’s not so good against lefties. So, Holderman’s more of what we sometimes would refer to as a rugie, maybe a right-on-ight specialist, much like how Jake Junice was a year ago. He throws that sweeper as a primary pitch. Now, the other side is going to be people who are upset that this is what they’re spending money on. You need to take a lot of swings when it comes to the bullpen. And right now, the relief market is going quickly. They’re adding multiple guys and if they work out, you’ve got a player for a few years because every single guy has multiple years of control. If it doesn’t work out, it’s players they can move on from quickly. They need to build up depth. That’s what they’re doing. They’re adding some players who the stuff plus model absolutely loves. And at bottom line, end of the day, Cleveland Guardians have a better job when it comes to free agency with these lower tier signings with the quote unquote scrape players than they often have with guys that they’ve given 5 million or more. I’m going to trust this team when it comes to scouting pitching and I’m going to see, you know, if it works out or not. I think it’s a worthwhile gamble. Tune to Lockdown Guardians for more on Colin Holderman and any other additions Cleveland makes this off seasonason.

He was great in 2023
I’m cool with the move, keep filling the pen
Good pickup for the money
Let's hope they keep going.
I trust the Guards to recognize and develop pitchers. They actually ARE smarter than everyone else in this department. Regarding hitters…..quite the opposite.
I'm also excited to see what Espino may bring to the back end of the bullpen…100+ MPH.
Glad they are going to convert him to a reliever. Hope he breaks camp with the big club.
