I’m not too surprised we lost when we were missing 8 players. I’m just bummed we couldn’t win when Sidy and Rupes had really good performances. Also, why do we keep Cooke on a two-way if he can’t even get in for meaningful minutes when we have nobody?
I know we’re super injured, but this one hurts. We gave up 143 points to the fucking Pelicans in a blowout loss to end their 7 game losing streak.
Nothing to see here, see you in the next one.
I take this season as the universe balancing itself for the team choosing Chauncey Billups, and we get to pay for it in emotional turmoil.
Another year stuck in mediocrity. This sucks
Glad that’s over
Dundon is going to go scorched earth and it’s probably the right move.
I’m so tired of Tiago dapping up the other coaches after a blowout
Why are the Blazers playing with little to no confidence
First time this year I’ve even thought of the tank,,,, It’s pulling me back in
Absolutely disgusting game. I guess I’ll start with the positives (which there aren’t too many) – I get that we lost given all the injuries, but *how* we lost bothered me more – we should not be losing the way we did today especially after getting 36 points from Rupert and Sidy.
* Rupes with the best game of his career. He was opportunistic with cuts, offensive rebounds, and transition, and made two threes. He also flashed to the open spots when the Pelicans played zone, and displayed an awareness that’s sometimes been lacking before.
* Similarly, Sidy was awesome. Shooting the ball with confidence (the semi-contested 28 footer without hesitation was awesome and a shot he needed to shoot), attacking in transition, smart drives etc. I also think his passing is sneaky underrated as well – he had several good drive and kick moments.
* Seeing the ball go through the hoop for Shae is nice. I thought he was terrible on defense. But seeing him hit some threes is cool (he can really be such a good scorer if he’s making threes like today).
* Getting torched by Bryce McGowens while Love stinks is up and Cooke can’t even get on the court with 8 guys hurt. Really, what are doing with those two-way spots? It bothers me more than it really should lol.
* Kris is genuinely the worst shooter I have ever seen. I think I would trust most of our centers of recent years to hit an open shot before him – Nurkic, DC, Eubanks, RW, etc. etc.
* Defense was TERRIBLE all night. Couldn’t guard straight line drives, didn’t communicate on backdoor cuts, etc. They all looked like they were just running in mud defensively and couldn’t get anything going.
* I also thought we were playing way too much zone defense for a team with no big – with no center to anchor the zone it was a layup line, and even when the Pels missed at the rim we couldn’t rebound out of the zone and it was just easy putbacks. With all wings on the floor (and Queen being more of a perimeter player than a traditional center) I thought we should have been playing mostly man defense and guarding up.
* I think Shae should be in all the lineups Deni isn’t. The Deni-less and Shae-less lineups are just really bad on offense as every play is essentially asking Grant to create something in an isolation, or a Caleb Love contested jumper. Just ugly ugly offense and way too little offensive creation. No bueno.
* I usually try really hard to stay away from being the body language analyst but I think Deni should probably complain a little less. I understand he’s getting hacked but the complaining and not getting back on defense is costing us points on the other end. Tough game for him today and he didn’t get a lot of calls he normally gets but still.
* JG had a really horribly ugly game on offense. That up and down turnover was awful lol.
We can beat the best team in the league and we can lose to the worst team in the league, proving there’s absolutely nothing this team can’t do. 😀
We hit a new low
We beat a healthy cavs team less than 2 weeks ago with an almost as injured roster than this. Then lose to a 3-13 team makes sense
Just so much dysfunction to even type out. Our medical staff can’t seem to ever get anyone healthy in a typical timeline. our defense has turned to complete dog shit. we can’t shoot. we can’t rebound. and we rarely show any serious effort on a game to game basis.
it’s really sad and depressing.
This season is a rerun of a rerun that wasn’t very good the first time I saw it. Yikes!
I really didn’t expect that the head coach getting pinched by the feds was going to be the most exciting part of the season, but here we are.
Splitters coaching in this game was awful. 4 days of rest and this is what they had.
Lineups with deni, camara and Shae off the floor in the second half, especially with grant being awful. You can be undermanned, but no reason to have those 3 off the floor for decent stretches.
Awful defensive scheme with this zone, that gave up wide open shots for way too long. They suck and got 143 points.
I don’t think Chauncey was an amazing coach, but with this group he started to figure out the defence. Our defence is a joke at the moment(and I understand we are hurt, but this performance was awful)
We need a PG so bad, what the hell is Deni supposed to do when no one cuts inside all game, pass to himself?
Hopium…smells like….tanking.
If you’re just box score watching and didn’t actually see the game, don’t be fooled by Shaedon’s line, it’s a fugazi. He played some of the worst defense I’ve seen from him. Just so lethargic and half a step behind on that side of the floor.
this was such a bad game. feel like morale is gonna be so down we’re gonna need a ton of rallying before the warriors
I’m tired of the excuses. Giving up 143 points to the 3-23 Pelicans like have some fuckin pride! For an organization that had higher expectations for this team this season, the standard has been lowered.
Dundon needs to clean house because I’m tired of watching this crap every season!
On one hand we have 0 healthy centers and point guards, on the other hand its hard to shake the feeling we’re just a bad team at this point. On the 3rd hand, wtf is going on with our medical situation? So many guys have just randomly missed a single game this year with the type of thing where you’d think they’d play if we absolutely need them, and we do in fact absolutely need them. Then you have the Jrue injury that seemingly came out of nowhere days after he played a game and yet was serious enough to keep him out for a month+ and the Scoot injury that had an initial timetable of 4-8 weeks and is now looking like a *minimum* of 12-14 weeks. I understand setbacks happen but all of this happening at once is kinda crazy
You can just see Deni’s frustration with games like this. With the season he’s been having he deserves better but the injuries just tanked the first half of the season for us. Real talk: can we pull ourselves out? Do we want to at this point?
Didn’t see the whole game, but even as a positivity person this year, I’m feeling a bit deflated.
Nice to see Sidy doing good stuff out there, though. I hope that we can find a way to keep him around, but if not, he’ll be a good supporting player for some team next year.
Pathetic
Say what you want about injuries, I think we all get it. But these guys still fucking stunk tonight. As a fan this season is getting frustrating to watch.
4 pgs, 3 centers and tys, that’s just too much. I don’t know if deni is more tired or teams learned him or is just officiating the last 2-3 games.
Tank please. It’s still possible. This draft rules. We have no top tier talent besides Deni.
The anti-OKC win
I’m kinda out on the push the ball every time offense. It’s hurting the defense even when we have our bigs
