It's hard to believe it's already been 10 years since Jim Rutherford rightly fired Mike Johnston and promoted Mike Sullivan from the AHL to replace him.
Sullivan's impact was immediate and extraordinary. His leadership helped change the franchise forever. He reshaped the legacy of many players and the franchise. He helped take the Penguins from being the NHL's version of the '90s Atlanta Braves to back-to-back champions in his first 19 months on the job.
The end of the Sullivan Era perhaps diminishes just how extraordinary his start of his Penguins tenure was, but the positive aspect from the Sullivan Era far outweighs any negative aspect.

Brought two Stanley Cups to Pittsburgh. Forever grateful for the excitement those teams brought. Got the team to stop whining and just play.
Sully will go down as one of the best coaches this franchise has had. His time came like every other coach, but we’ll forever love him for the memories even if he’s coaching the Rangers now. *Fuck the Rags though*

Top 3 all time pens coach
Top tier Penguins coach for bringing back to backers in Pittsburgh.
Thankful for the two Cups he brought us, and all the winning. He’ll always have a place here. ❤️
