Pete Alonso’s goodbye

  1. I remember his rookie year and knowing he was special from the beginning. I think we could’ve transitioned him from 1B to DH and Soto from RF to 1B in a few years. There was no reason to cheap out on him even if it wasn’t ideal. He was not the problem.

  2. At least he gets to leave this shithole of a team while fans get to stay. It’s like when one parent divorces another and leaves the kids with the shit parentĀ

  3. The ā€œwith love, Polar Bearā€ broke me a little bit. Thanks for everything Petey, will always root for you 🄲

  4. Will root for him on the Orioles. Can’t believe he was disrespected so hard by this organization

  5. I think this one stings the most. Diaz, his mind was made up for reasons that the Mets couldn’t compete with. Pete, I don’t know man. He deserved better than he was treated. I know what I am saying is an emotional reaction and not a sound business decision, but baseball is also entertainment. Pete was a fan favorite. That should mean something in the larger picture. I think the Mets fumbled this one. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong and I’ll be the first to admit it, but I think this should have played out differently.

  6. My son has been to Citi Field once. We flew from LA during spring break to see Pete’s first home game in 2019. We rode the 7-line. We froze our asses off. Strasburg threw a gem to shut us out and beat Thor. Pete went 0-fer. It was a great day that the kid will never forget. He insists Pete hit one out. No need to correct him.

What a fucking force of nature this guy was.

  7. So sad. I was at a preseason game before he was officially called up. He was still Peter Alonso. He hit a homerun out of the stadium šŸ™
