Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 🚨 TNF Instant Reaction πŸ‘€

All right, check the mic. We are live instantly reacting to the Atlanta Falcons pulling the upset 2928 over the Bucks. Falcons with their fifth win of the season. Bucks fall to 500 and into second place in the NFC South as of right now. The Carolina Panthers officially in first at 7 and six in the NFC South. The Falcons come back from 28-4 in the fourth quarter to win it 29 to 28. Even with two failed two-point conversions in the fourth quarter, they still outscore the Bucks to get the win. Two failed uh two-point conversions in the fourth quarter and two fourth quarter fumbles and somehow they got back on top of both of them when the game would have been basically done with either one of them being a turnover. How this makes no nothing makes any the Falcons don’t make sense. Nobody makes sense. Why don’t the Falcons make sense, Sam? Because this game always should have been within their reach. Bean Robinson 19 carries for 93 yards, another eight catches for 82. Kyle Pittz 11 for 166. Where’s that been the last four years and three touchdowns? Like he’s only had the I think his career high for touchdowns in a season is four and he had three of them in this game. Um Kyle Pittz was unstoppable. He had like five, six catches for like a 100 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. It’s like I mean maybe we should just be throwing the ball at Kyle Pitts more than we’ve been doing in the past. U Bjan Robinson was insane even with you know relatively sparse uh receiving core or weaponry just those two guys really they were dominating and then the Falcons couldn’t stop conceding penalties. They ended up with 19 of them for the game overall like 125 yards of penalties. Okay just re rewind that. They had two fourth quarter fumbles. Yes. Including Bean, who I still think deserves 60 touches a game despite two costly fumbles last two weeks. Two fumbles, 19 penalties. David Sills dropped a pass that could have gone for 50 and a touchdown. Like the mistakes for the Falcons are out of this world. How did they pull off a win against the Bucks? Well, partly because uh they had a really nice interception as a D offer that ended up like peeling off his guy undercutting a Baker Mayfield pass. Uh and then the other thing is second and 14 or whatever it was. Baker Mayfield has achuka over the middle when they’re trying to milk the clock and missed him. Left it slightly behind him. Pass isn’t able to be brought in. That was a huge miss. Like he had that play and that’s a first down. That’s another chunk of time off the clock. Instead, they don’t get it. They don’t pick up the third down. They got to punt it away. And now Atlanta’s got the ball and the opportunity to to come back at a time when, you know, Kurt Cousins knows how to play the Todd Balls defense. Like, whatever you say about the rest of this team and the mistakes and blah blah blah, Cousins understands how to have production against this Todd Balls defense. the the yardage, the production he’s putting up against the Bucks specifically for the Falcons is like out of this world. So, if you give them the ball back with a couple minutes to work, you’re in trouble. I have the numbers there because I don’t think it’s just Cousins. We mentioned this on the preview show and I went against my instinct on the pick, but it’s McVey offense and the McVey tree against the Todd Bulls defense have had this good history. Kirk Cousins has now averaged 441 passing yards per game against the Bucks on Thursday Night Football over the last two years. 509 yards last year, 373 this loud over here. Yeah, I mean he’s he’s put up crazy production against him. I think there’s something to, you know, the longer you’ve been in the league, the more experience you’ve got, the the less of a young quarterback you are, the more you uh have familiarity against the Todd BS defense. I don’t think it’s it’s not like it’s easy to diagnose, but if you got guys that have been around and seen it all, they have a better shot at attacking this defense. All right. From a Bucks Bucks perspective, look, the season’s not over because these other Carolina twice, you’re still good. Yeah. the non- Panthers games are surprisingly low leverage compared, you know, in comparison, right? So, you haven’t, your season isn’t in dire straits, but the way things are going, it did look like things were better. So, Mike Evans comes back from his injury. Jaylen McMillan makes his debut for this season. He returns. Amecha Ibuka, look, they’ve they have not been on the same page. Haven’t been able to connect. Baker and Ibuka over the last few weeks. They at least connected a few times tonight. You’ve got Bucky Irving back. So, it looked better for three quarters for the Bucks. It did look like, hey, when you got your guys back, it’s it’s it’s a little bit better, but it did fall apart in the fourth quarter. Baker’s interception, the miss, you know, the miss on second down and everything. So, there are still issues with this Bucks team overall. It wasn’t just necessarily the injuries and missing Mike Evans and, you know, missing some people over these last few weeks. Yeah, sure. I mean, you know, this Baker Mayfield is responsible for one of the bigger mistakes we’ve been talking about. Like, he hits second and 14. They probably win that game. Um, he didn’t. They They made mistakes across the board as well. Theirs weren’t the same as uh Atlanta’s. They didn’t have 19 penalties, but they they had some errors themselves. Um, I also think I mean, they had a lot of stuff kind of go against them in the fourth quarter as well. Well, as much as I think Atlanta was the better team for the first half and they were shooting themselves in the foot, maybe they should have been way ahead, Tampa Bay eventually took control and then things really sort of went against them in terms of like the strip sack and the Darnell Mooney fumble. Both of those I have no idea how a Falcon got on top of either of those balls. The first one there was like six bucks jumped on it and somehow they were like, “Nah, the Falcons ball.” The second one, they didn’t even claim that the the Falcons got on it first. They claimed it was simultaneous possession and gave it back. That would have ended the game, right? That would have ended the game for the Bucks. The pits touchdown, the third one, I mean, his elbow seems to hit out at the same time as his ass cheek does, at which point that’s not a touchdown. So, I think the Bucks got a little bit unlucky late in the game as well in addition to making mistakes. I mean, I was I was ready to write the the eulogy, so to speak, or the narrative on the Falcons once again. How many time bad ball, right? 19 penalties and fumbles and even though the dudes their their version of the dudes kind of took over tonight when it comes to pits and Bean and uh those guys just being fed and making plays, but they were giving it away with those fumbles. They were giving it away with those penalties and the Bucks didn’t take it. They gave it away even worse. So, man, Bucks have some some defensive issues that have been popping up in recent weeks here. They were surviving earlier in the season. in the last few weeks not trending in the right direction. But all that said, from a Tampa Bay perspective, which matters more right now, Falcons are out of the playoffs, but Tampa Bay, they got the mini buy in the Panthers first game next week. I mean, all energy toward that if and look, Mike Evans looked pretty good on his return. Six catches for 132. might not be as dynamic as he was a few years ago or whatever, but he could still he still has those spurts where Mike Evans gets hot and he makes plays and Baker can get hot and get him the ball. So, I think that’s what the Bucks need to lean into in the coming weeks here. And so did McMillan. I mean, McMillan made a couple of nice plays as well. Like, you know, that’s starting to look like a very nice receiving core again now. They’re all healthier. Like Mike Evans is is a complete difference maker to the team. He brings something very different to the rest of them. But Ibuka, McMillan, Chris Godwin, uh Bucky Irving, like the the running backs that they’ve got collectively, that is a talented skill position group. And you know, Baker Mayfield is capable of getting those guys the ball. They have a higher ceiling that they’ve been showing, but now they don’t have any margin for error anymore. Like these should have been two games that bought them some wiggle room, right? They could have split the series against Carolina and, you know, all would have been good. And then you drop one of the Saints, you drop another one at the death of the Falcons, it’s like, okay, now you need to go beat Carolina twice. And I think they’re well capable of doing that, but you have to. Now, this is it’s a rough stretch for Tampa Bay. Chance to rectify it in the coming weeks with two out of the last three against the now first place Carolina Panthers. If you’re a Rams fan, you hated this finish. Lost a little bit of draft position here with the Falcons win. maybe maybe close to falling out of the top 10 here with the uh for the five and nine Falcons. So, Rams fans weren’t loving what uh old friend Raheem Morris and Zack Robinson were able to pull off here for the Falcons. Um we’ll see. I mean the other part of the Falcons will I don’t know if jobs are on the line for Raheem and everybody this year but if they finish strong right like if the Falcons finish you know eight and nine seven and 10 and it’s a strong finish you know win three out of your last four out of four whatever that looks like do you can you at least paint this picture hey we lost Penn and we had some injury we had no Drake London for a while can you at least paint this picture that was what the Bears did a couple years ago yeah when they were convincing themselves. Hey, Justin Fields is our guy. Look at us. We finished seven and 10. So, it it it’s an interesting time for the Falcons, too, just from a job security standpoint. Can they build some momentum into next year? And this is at least a game in the right direction for that. Yeah, this was um if they win two out of the next three, Arizona and the Saints and even if they get whacked by the Rams, you know, that wouldn’t that would be a respectable enough finish given uh how how the season went. Um, I think this was an important I mean the broadcast made a lot of this as well and they, you know, they tend to make a lot of stuff like this. Like they did fight hard. I mean this is a team that was eliminated last week, right? If there ever was a time to just bail on the season to quit, you know, the season’s literally done. You’re mathematically eliminated. There is nothing to play for anymore. Particularly as you don’t even have your first round draft pick. You’re shipping that to somebody else. So they like no team has anything less to play for than the Atlanta Falcons do right now. And yet in a prime time game, albeit a Thursday night one, in a division rival game on the road, they played hard and they snatched this game from um from Tampa Bay at the end. So, you know, if you’re an owner and you’re looking at, do we make moves? Do I need to fire somebody? Like, what goes on here? Like, you’re at least coming out of this game pretty happy in terms of like these guys are still fighting hard. They the attitude is still right. And uh just from a fan perspective, man, Bejon is so fun to watch. It it is it is awesome seeing Kyle Pittz too. It wasn’t this wasn’t like you could call this a breakout game. 11 catches the three touchdowns in the whole thing. But all season he’s played pretty well. Had he’s had some drops I think in recent weeks, but all season, right from the get-go, it’s looked a little different from Pitts. And that’s going to be one of those offseason stories as a as a free agent tight end. There’s not many impact free agents out there. and tight ends have a history of not necessarily doing great on their first contract, but then excelling in years four, five, and six and beyond. Like, he’s going to be a really interesting story because this, if the breakout is here, it’s coming at a time when, you know, he’s potentially about to get paid. And then you see what Bean’s able to do every time he touches the ball, he’s just awesome to watch. Yeah. I mean, he’s still only 25 years old. Like, he’s like a year younger than Tyler Shuck. Um, like it’s he’s crazy how young he is still. So, yeah. I mean, the game he had today was the game that I always wonder why it doesn’t happen every week. Like, he is athletic, he is dynamic, he is very difficult to match up with. He tossed Antoine Winfield to the side one-on-one in the slot and just like left him for dead at the line of scrimmage. And there’s like there aren’t that many tight ends in the NFL that can do that at all. So, I always kind of wonder why this game doesn’t happen more regularly for Kyle Pittz. Um, maybe it will happen more going forward. Also, Bejian Robinson accounted for like what, like a buck 70 yards from scrimmage. Also had that, you know, one-handed catch down the sideline that he didn’t quite get a second foot in. Had a bunch of yardage taken away with holding penalties as well. Like, I mean, he I don’t know what his sort of given that and the the holding stuff, I don’t know what he would have ended up with, but like well over 200 yards in scrimmage. Yeah, that’s what’s been annoying about the Falcons. Bean’s been there, Pitts has been there. when London’s there, like why isn’t this offense unstoppable every single week and um best best game their offense has played and and maybe it is just the match up against the Bucks and Bulls that helps unlock those guys. But yeah, Pitts has look great and uh Bejian’s fun to watch. So that’s at least worth watching for the rest of the season for the Falcons. We’ll see how they finish. Uh Bucks have to bounce back next week against Carolina or they’re in a lot of trouble now. Second place in the NFC South. All right, man. Anything else to cover here? Thursday Night Football. It was a good one. All right. Appreciate everybody for being here.

  1. The Bucs are so stupid. The Falcons committed 97 penalties for 347 yards and still won. What a waste of my evening. What a waste of a season. The OL is hot garbage. The defense is wet garbage. And i like Todd Bowles, but he's not the guy. Baker is too inconsistent.

  2. Check the Mic is my go to pro football nerd show.I'd rather watch their post game instant reactions over the actual post game show which will be ruined by insufferable comercials.

  3. Going from 5-1 to 7-7 with dropping 2 critical games. Todd has lost this locker room. The Tony Dungy Moment is here, time to move on. Keep this roster and bring in a new staff. Its time. 4 years of this.

  4. I agree with Sam. That Falcons receiver’s elbow hit out of bounds simultaneously with his ass. Can’t imagine why the refs just gave him the td.

  5. Baker cost them the game. INT and then the next drive an inaccurate pass to Eugbka that was behind him that would have ended the game…some of his passes were way off. He got Evan’s Killed on a high ball. Also the deep ball Evan came down with was under thrown. His accuracy is bad. Took some bad sacks as well…

  6. Losing to a 2 win Saints and a 4 win Falcons team at home is as bad as it gets.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ who would have thought Bryce Young is the best QB in the NFC South πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚..

  7. The back field needs to be way less of a committee. Bucky should be used like Bijon. He can catch passes just as well as White and is a better runner. There’s a reason Bucky took that job. But taking him out every 2 downs keeps him (and any of them) from getting into a rhythm and affects how they see the defense. But they seem content to let Baker run in circles in the pocket before he gets sacked, while Bucky is on the sideline or out in the flat wide open.

  8. How about James Pearce Jr. with 8 sacks now? He affected Baker a number of other times in that game. Falcons probably wouldn't be picking anybody better than him in the first round in 2026, right? He does not get mentioned in this video, btw.

  9. We swept the falcons. We are getting almost everyone back, too. Evans will end up injured before the season is over (don’t wish it on anybody but you can tell) the south will be ours. Idc if we lose in the first round. And we are atop the division for the first time in 10 years. Rise up!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ preciate it, dirty birds.

    KEEP POUNDING!!!

  10. Would like someone to explain the difference in the fumble recoveries. In both cases a player recovered the ball in a scrum and then stands with the ball but only 1 was awarded

  11. everybody is talking about the Colts collapse, but the Bucs are eving more collapsing. After the Seattle game baker was a MVP, and now there are a lot of questions.

  12. I dont get why a team ever goes for 2 point. Unless it’s near the end and desperate to catch up. It’s basically trying to score with one down. Stupid.

  13. klye pitts break out year just ignoring the rookie season. can't just occam's razor its the falcons. steve truly the platonic media member

  14. You did a fantastic job of giving Cousins as little credit as humanly possible. The fact is he is perhaps the best clutch quarterback this league has ever seen. He has led 2 of the 7 greatest comebacks in history and that does not include this one. He threw into tiny windows several times tonight and only once was the ball in danger of being intercepted. If Mahomes was the quarterback in this game his play was all you would have talked about. Someone has to start giving Kirk the credit that he has earned with a Hall of Fame quality career. I can prove that if you like. What for my book coming out soon, The Real GOAT Scoring System.
