FIRST THINGS FIRST | Nick Wright’s SHOCKING Double Standard With Justin Herbert And LA Chargers
just need another Monster Mahomes game to win. No, no, no, no, no. And they better not be relying on it. That’s not all. That’s not That is not on the board this weekend. I shouldn’t say that. That That’s just right. That is not the It the plan should not be press the Mahomes button a bunch of times. Not when Thursday’s practice report is out. We are still without our starting right guard and our starting right tackle and the starting left tackle just got put on IR. So if you are going to be without three-fifths of your starting offensive line and one of the two guys who is still there is your replacement left guard the guy who stepped in for who’s done a good job Kingsley but the guy who wasn’t even the Tunis position from last year. So, it’s as far as your Ardan offensive line, it’s just Creed Humphrey that’s been there year over year. The center, the plan cannot be drop Patrick back 40 times and have him make magic. It that is insane to me right now that he has the audacity to say that. Yet, throughout the entire course of the season, all he did was downplay, make fun of, and troll Justin Herbert and the Chargers. That is insane to me that he says that. He says they can’t press the Mahomes button. That it’s ridiculous that you can’t expect him just to drop back and be Mahomes and this and that. Yet, he kept making fun of Justin Herbert and the Chargers week after week after week after week, even as the Chargers were pushing that button for Herbert. And lo and behold, he was succeeding. He was having success. And it’s just insane to me. It’s absolutely insanity to me. I mean, it it just every 5 seconds he’s like, “Oh, apparently uh Joe Alt the most important player for the uh for the Charger.” And it’s just like Justin Herbert’s been without an offensive line from the jump, man. From the jump. And yet if Justin Herbert wasn’t great or or if the Chargers lost it was like I thought Justin Herbert was supposed to be this great quarterback and now the Patrick Momen and don’t come at me and say well he’s won Super Bowls. It has nothing I can’t emphasize this enough that has nothing to do with anything. It has absolutely positively nothing to do with anything. Nothing. zero. It’s one thing if Patrick Mahomes was like 39 years old right now, then I could say, “Okay, I understand that.” But Patrick Mahomes is in his prime. So, if you need a quarterback to elevate with a bad O line, etc., etc., and and and prove that he can do it or or just you need him to do it, well, then Patrick Mahomes has to do it just like Justin Herbert has to then. Like, it would it would have to be equal in that regard. two quarterbacks in their prime. Especially because when you’re making fun of Justin Herbert and trolling him and all that type of stuff, no one’s having uh no one’s having the discussion of legacy right now. That’s where Chiefs fans, Mahomes fans always want to manipulate and change the conversation. Well, Patrick Mahomes, you imagine saying that Patrick Mahomes needs to prove this or do that, blah blah blah blah. And it’s just like that’s not that’s like not the conversation. We’re saying this is the football game. This is the issue that the team is dealing with. This is the issue that the quarterback has to overcome. what’s happening now. Nothing to do what happened in 2019, 2020, 21, 22. Nothing to do with that. Nothing to do with who’s going to be a Hall of Famer, how are people going to remembered? Nothing to do with that. But if you’re going to give Patrick Mahomes the benefit of the doubt in this moment and say, “Listen, this can’t be the plan for the Chiefs. You can’t expect them to be, you know, Mahomes to be able to be great in this moment.” Then you have to say the same thing for every quarterback actually not even just Herbert a rookie a second year third year Bicks Jaylen Herz Garner Mchu because if you’re willing to give that excuse that logic to literally Patrick Mahomes the quarterback that you say is the greatest quarterback of all time. Nick thinks that Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time. If you can’t expect him to be able to succeed or overcome in that notion or that the team should not hit the Mahomes button, then you can’t expect any team or any quarterback to have that. You just can’t. And that’s why I’m trying to emphasize so strongly, as I think I am, like it has nothing to do with legacy or what you’ve done in the past. No one’s saying Patrick Mahomes needs to prove he can do it. That’s not the conversation. That’s not the conversation. If that was the question, does Patrick Mahomes need to prove that he can win this way or that he, you know, that he can beat the Texans missing a bunch of line like that to to to earn his worth? That’s not the conversation. If it was, then I could understand. Then you could say, “Well, dude, are you kidding me? Look at all the Super Bowls MVPs, blah blah blah blah blah,” then I could understand. That’s not the conversation. So, do not bully and twist that into the conversation. Anyone who brings up the past and Super Bowls and this and that, it’s it’s irrelevant. It is 1,000% irrelevant. It’s irrelevant. So, it’s just crazy to me. It’s crazy to me that that’s how Nick starts this conversation. Do the Chiefs need a monster game for Mahomes to win? And he’s like, are you kidding me? Let me tell you about these offensive line issues. And it’s like, what is going on? You’ve been making fun of the Chargers this whole time and Justin Herbert this whole time. Justin Herbert’s been dealing with these situations, this O line issue for the entire season. And yet he’s got a higher completion percentage, 66.9%. Patrick Mahomes 64.6%. 22 touchdowns to 21 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes has a few uh, you know, a few hundred more yards. Absolutely. Yak anyone? Uh, but still credit to Mahomes. Justin Herbert’s been pressured 30 more times than than Patrick Mahomes. Passer rating 94.9 to 96.5. It’s just this is it’s just crazy to me. This is why I said Justin Herbert deserves tremendous praise and credit for what he’s been able to do. Justin Herbert has been dealing with what Patrick Mahomes is going to deal with right now in this game essentially for the entire season. And yet he’s still put up top top quarterback numbers right now. He’s the fifth highest rated quarterback right now according to PFF. And that’s with a situation that Nick himself is saying you can’t expect great things from this quarterback. And yet here we have a quarterback literally doing great things. It’s just it’s just ridiculous. It really is. It’s ridiculous. I just I don’t I don’t Yeah. I just I I don’t even know, man. And I got news for you. Patrick Mahomes also has a lot more pass attempts. That’s why he has, you know, a few hundred more yards. Um, you know, it’s 441 attempts to Justin Herbert’s 396. But since I’m the goat, yeah, I’m saying it. I’m the goat of using these numbers. I knew that this was going to be the case before I even looked it up. I just knew it. I just knew. I was like, “Oh, why?” Obviously, I know why this is the case. He has 103 pass attempts behind the line of scrimmage. Patrick Mahomes 103 pass attempts. The next closest is Bo Knicks with 80. So he’s got him beat by 23. That’s a full game’s worth of pass attempts. You guys realize that? That’s literally a full game’s worth of pass attempts. Where do you think Justin Herbert is? Dead last 53. Patrick Mahomes literally has double the pass attempts behind the line of scridge and nearly double. Actually, it is double the uh passing yards from strict from specifically behind the line of scrimmage. I love I I love when the logic that you realized was accurate in the past can be so easily applied to the present and most likely the future as well. So funny. I mean, we got these schemed throws, the screen passes, 64 pass attempts. Justin Herbert 26. Patrick Mahomes has 350 yards offscreen passes. Justin Herbert has 104 yards. Patrick Mahomes has three touchdown passes on screens. Justin Herbert, zero. Again, these are the types of plays behind the line of scrimmage screens that Andy Reid himself says, “When I’m evaluating a quarterback, I do not count. I throw it out.” This is D. He directly said this to John Milkoff himself and said cuz he straight up asked how you know now that we’re in such this crazy pass ccentric team you uh era and how do you evaluate college quarterback you know how do you do that and he’s just like I throw away all those other passes they mean nothing to me and it makes sense because any quarterback can do it it’s all coaching it’s all scheme so miss me with the nonsense And this is why it’s so insane the conversations that we have about a Justin Herbert, about a Patrick Mahomes, etc., etc. Why it’s so insane that one moment Nick can just with his chest out troll and downplay. And this that’s the thing because we can say, “Oh, well, hey, he’s a Chiefs fan, this and that.” And like that’s all well and good. I get it. It’s all fun. But the problem is is that Justin Herbert isn’t established enough. I get it if it’s a little bit more of an established quarterback. Although I would still argue that that’s bad because you’re you’re structuring a narrative that people believe that people listen to. And it’s just like if you don’t really know how great Justin Herbert is or you’re not able to watch, you know, all of the Chargers games and whatnot, you then get fed a false narrative. And like this is a perfect example of this. A perfect example of this. Well, can’t expect Mahomes to do much in this situation, but he’s the greatest quarterback to ever live. So, if you can’t expect him to do it, then who should you expect to? And this is where at that point in the conversation, they then want to change the conversation and talk about Super Bowls and this and it’s like, that’s not the conversation. That’s not the conversation. We’re not having a legacy conversation. We’re not saying who has to prove anything. We’re saying what can you expect from a quarterback in this moment given this situation and you’re saying that the greatest quarterback ever don’t expect much from him and that should not be the Chief’s plan. Yet we consistently see that be the plan for Josh Allen and the Bills, the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar, Justin Herbert and the Chargers. And when they don’t succeed, every single time in that situation, it’s oh, like when the Chargers were winning before the everything really got decimated, then they started losing or just struggling more and Herbert’s numbers went down, Nick was like, “See, this is why you don’t go all crazy on the hype machine. Chargers charging.” And it’s like, what? Where’s the context? Well, I just showed you the context that Justin Herbert is having a better season, a better season with a worse defense and a worse O line, worse receivers, less layups given by his coaching staff with behind the line of scrimmage plays, plays, uh, you know, screen passes, etc., etc. And yet Justin Herbert is still having a better season. His numbers aren’t juiced up with easier completions. I mean, are you kidding me? Those behind the line of scrimmage and those screen pass, they have like 99% completion percentage. Like, it’s like through the roof. Juices up passer rating, juices up uh, you know, touchdowns, juices up uh, completion percentage. Justin Herbert’s not benefiting from that, and yet he’s still putting up better numbers, having a betting a better season in clearly a worse situation. That is why someone like Justin Herbert deserves heaps of praise rather than trolling and downplaying what he’s doing. Wow. Talk about a take that was given to me on a silver platter right now. San Diego Los Angeles Chargers. Y’all better show some love in this video. I hope you do. I hope you subscribe. I hope you comment. I hope you give the thumbs up cuz these are the nuggets that I pull from. This is just a typical Kansas City Chiefs take right now. Mahomes, etc. I go, “No, this is a Chargers take. This is a Justin Herbert take. You just don’t know it. You just don’t see it. I do. So, please be part of this party. Be part of this community. So we can continue to have real grounded honest takes that fundamentally matter and speak clarity because it is not fair that we could just excuse Patrick and not to mention because if Patrick Mahomes succeeds and wins because I don’t think the Texans are this big juggernaut of a team to have a great defense for sure but it’s like Okay. Not to mention, you also have the benefit of Andy Reid. Andy Reed’s pretty good at dealing with these types of situations. You know, his proven track record of like a hundred years in the NFL, it’ll be praised as like the greatest accomplishment in the history of the NFL. Oh, he’s down all these linemen and blah blah blah blah. And it’s just like, okay, like let’s go through the the games that Justin Herbert succeeded again in worst conditions being pressured like 30 times. Let’s let let’s celebrate those moments. I crunched all those numbers and now again that data is already now dated because it’s I did it in like week 10 or something and now it’s you know we’re in week 13, 14, whatever the heck it is. So, I can’t go through that again, but it’s like I already I already showed you when he was dealing with his peak issues, and it was like, yeah, he was doing better than Mahomes was doing with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. That’s an accomplishment. That’s an accomplishment. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about this double standard, we’ll call it, between Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, the Chargers, the Chiefs, and really any other team. If you’re watching this video and you’re not a Chargers fan, just like, you know, how do you feel about what is being said? Because again, not all teams have great O line. So, shouldn’t we just be excusing the quarterbacks then, no matter what who they are? Gino Tua Tong Valoa, you know, whoever Kurt Cousins and we’re excusing it for the Patrick Mahomes shouldn’t be on the table for everyone. Try to answer that question without bringing up Super Bowls and MVPs because it doesn’t matter. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I read every single comment. It’s whether you agree with me or disagree with me. Either way, let’s get into some discussions. Let’s get into some fights. But ultimately, let’s just have some fun. And as I said, please do consider subscribing. We really are building an amazing community here and I really would love to see you part of it. I want to build something that we all generally feel connected to, something that we’re really excited to be part of. I think we’re well on our way to doing it. Please don’t forget to give this video a thumbs up as it really does help with the visibility and the algorithm. Thank you so much. See you next time.

The bengals lost 3 of thier starting oline men vs the chiefs in 2023 afc championship game (which btw they had the best pass rush in the league that year). Nick wright quote said "that was the most impressive game by the best player in the nfl (mahomes)" and it wasnt a super impressive game they only put up 23 points he had 2 touchdowns and had a fumble. Sure good but not the best ever. So that means even if cj stroud beats mahomes 3 to 0 hes the best qb in the league and it was super impressive. Oh and even though the bengals were forced to have burrow throw 40 times in that game its his fault but its not going to be mahomes fault when he does it this weekend.
YOU NEED TO SEND THIS VIDEO TO NICK WRIGHT CO HOST DANNY
Wow, lo and behold , is Nick saying Mahomes need a top level Oline?? Welllll no shit!
Sounds like Nick has already lost faith in his team and is preparing his argument as to why the chiefs didn’t make the playoffs and if mahomes has a bad game where he throws multiple interceptions he’ll say because he was pressured all game total double standard lol
Nick Wright also thinks LeBron is the goat and not Jordan so there's context
Thank u Julian🫡
⚡️⚡️⚡️
I guess Josh Simmons is the most important player on the chiefs team.😂😂😂
Just crazy man. I like Nick but the hypocrisy is getting to a borderline delusional point for him. Sucks to see
I laughed so damn hard when I watched this live.
you can't believe he has the audacity?😂 you have the audacity to say josh allen is the goat lmaoooo
sit down and close that mouth.
you barely understand the sport.
Imagine if Herbs had its o line at 100%. Psssshhhhh would be top dog right now. Dudes already done a lot with a shit o line.
give Justin Herbert Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy and he would make them look great. Reason why Mike Williams and Keenan Allen are elite level WR with Justin Herbert at the helm. Justin elevates his team mates and isn't counting on the refs to carry him
Wait a minute I thougt Mchomos was a savior@
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Stoppped watching Nick Wrong, dude is full of shit. Him trying to get a click is no longer working. No one watches that show anymore. They need to bring back tank top Cris Carter.
Nick is the Skip Bayless of Kansas City. 😅
I think a lot of context is being lost. Nick is not saying you can’t ride Mahomes behind a bad o line they literally did it all the way to the Super Bowl last year. He is saying for this particular game against this particular pass rush it’s not wise for the game plan to be drop back 40-50 times and throw. The Justin Herbert criticism is because
he gets an o line excuse vs any pass rush not just a top 1 or 2 pass rush. It’s important to point out the context before going on an emotionally charged rant.
😱😱😱😱
Nick Wright and double standards you say ?!?
Say it isnt so 😂
His entire gimmick is double standards no one on that show calls out.
They double down on the nonsense by calling him
Mr. Consistency 😂😂
Prick Wrong aka Mrs Mahomo has talked shit about Herbert and the Chargers he gives his KC Cheats a pass when the Cheats Have some of the o line problems that have plagued the Bolts this year he double talks and mind barfs out his KC Cheats Homer horn honking horseshit Worst Things Worst is not a sports show its a KC Cheats cheer rally.
Nick Wright is just having this take because he doesn't have a educated opinion. It gets him clickbait fame. It's kinda sad.😢
Rules for thee not for meeeeeee
Julian, Shannon Sharpe and Nick Wright were proponents when it came to Tom Brady years ago that although you can't take away what he had accomplished, which was 6-7 Super Bowls when they were saying this, what mattered in that moment is what had he done lately. Basically, the take you've had for a while and repeatedly said is the take both of them were having when evaluating how Brady played in his last game or season he was playing in. Now, Nick Wright and some Chiefs fans when it comes to Mahomes are ironically going against that philosophy & are taking the Skip Bayless approach with Tom Brady. Whenever Tom Brady didn't perform to his standards, Skip Bayless kept saying "Well, he's got 6 Super Bowls! He's got 7 Super Bowls! He's got 6 game winning drives in Super Bowls!!!" He kept saying that & like I said, there were many who weren't trying to hear that for the exact reasons you've said in these regards as well. Now, it's all of a sudden ok to keep using career accolades as cover when you're not playing your best when it was NOT ok for a player who literally has over DOUBLE the rings that Mahomes has now, in part because Brady literally beat Mahomes to get that 7th & even beat Mahomes in 2018 on his path to get his 6th ? What sense does that make ? If career accolades couldn't be used as cover for a 6-7 ring player, why should they be used for a 3 ring player who lost to that 6-7 ring player multiple times to where it's affected why the ring count for both players are what they are ? Julian, how does this make any sense lmao
Nick Wrong is just a moron. Flat Moron who doesn't know ball.
Mahomes has never had an offensive line as bad as Herbert even once in his career and then when he actually had to play with a bad one because of injuries, he got spanked by the Bucs in the SB
You are so right with that take………..and the guy he WANTS to compare Mahomes to most often, Brady.made a living off of playing well with people missing in the lineup. If you expect to be THE BEST, then your job is to elevate the people around him
Mahomes threw 3 picks last night in a playoff like atmosphere but no one’s gonna talk about it
How did the GOAT look last night?🤣🤣🤣
We got to see last night in the Chiefs/Texans game what Pat performs like when he has an unhealthy O line. You know, like Herbert has been dealing with ALL YEAR and with WORSE players as backups. If Slater and Alt would have stayed healthy this season, chargers would be #1 seed and undefeated and I have zero doubt about that. Night WRONG really irks me. Not just his death penalty worthy takes but then you add his face in the mix too.
I’m wondering if he has some type of personal vendetta against Herbert or something because he’s been at this for a while .. and the. Drools over mahommes which is ok but then the double standard always comes out .. Nick is an absolute agent for mahommes .
He’s in love with Kermit the Frog. I no longer take this guy serious
