The Green Bay Packers Got An ABSOLUTE STEAL With This Player | Packers Rumors

[Music] Let’s call a spade a spade. Anthony Beltton has been phenomenal. Anthony Belton right now looks like an absolute steal in this past year’s draft. Anthony Belton has been more in 2025 than any of us ever thought that he would be. And if you thought he would be this good at the right guard spot, then I’m not going to lie to you. I think you’re lying straight to my face. And it might sound a little bit dramatic. Okay, I’ll grant you that. But in my opinion, Anthony Beltton is a big a reason as any for this three-game win streak the Green Bay Packers are on. And if you don’t believe me, well, stay tuned. I’m sure I’ll convince you by the end of today’s video. Something else I need to convince you to do is subscribe to the channel. This is like one of our biggest deficits of this entire season in our season long sub battle against Bears. Now, we’re down 108 subscribers and we just beat them like what five days ago. So, to kind of catch you up on this, I want to throw it all the way back to the 2025 NFL draft. Okay, so close your eyes with me, unless you’re driving, then you better keep your eyes open. And let’s throw it back to April. First round of this draft, you select Matthew Golden. I think that was a surprise to a lot of us. But I think if Matthew Golden was on the board right there at 23, the majority of you, myself included, would have taken him. Now, is he performing up to his expectation level? No, he’s not. I’m not selling on him. But this isn’t a Matthew Golden second. This is about Anthony. I personally thought after that, in round two of the draft, you had to go quarterback. I mean, think about it. the Gier Alexander situation was up in the air. Even even if he did come back to Green Bay, you knew he hadn’t been playing a lot of football recently, so he might not be as good as he once was. And he hadn’t been playing a lot of football recently, so there’s a chance he would have gotten injured and missed the majority of 2025. Now, obviously, it was the right decision to move on from him as he is retired from the game of football currently. But still, we all thought you got Keshan Nixon, Carrington Valentine, you need help in the quarterback spot. And then you select Anthony Belt, a left tackle out of NC State. I personally was surprised. Did not have tackle as even a top five need for the 2025 NFL draft. You don’t believe me in that? You can look back in any of my mock drafts. Tackle was not on my big board for the Green Bay Packers and they took it in round two. and I’ll come clean. I’ll be honest, my initial draft grade on this was a C++. I didn’t think it was necessary and I thought there were a lot of good quarterbacks available right there. And originally, like the justification behind drafting Anthony Beld was, oh well, you’re going to pay Zack Tom in the off season and then he’s just going to be Rasheed Walker’s replacement at left tackle after the 2025 season. And to that I said, “Okay, I see it. Still maybe a little bit early at pick number two, but I get it.” Then let’s go flash forward from April to about early November. After week nine of this season, it’s obvious this team has been struggling to run the football. Josh Jacobs averaged 0.7 yards before contact after week nine. That was a career low. That’s not yards after contact. That’s not yards per carry. That’s yards before he gets hit, which is mostly the blame on the offensive line. 3.8 yards a carry for Josh Jacobs. Well below average in the National Football League for a guy that many people, myself included, look at as a top running back in this game. After week nine, he was hit behind the line of scrimmage 45% of the time. That is a career. That was a careerhigh at that point. or Josh Jacobs. Sean Ryan was your week one right guard and was your right guard for the majority of the first six, five or six games. He was terrible. And then Jordan Morgan, your first round pick from 2024, was slotted back in at right guard and unfortunately he was terrible. He’s kind of looking like a bust from the 2024 draft. But we’re not talking draft bust today. No, we’re talking Anthony Belt because since then you have put Beltton in at right guard when he was originally drafted as a left tackle and you are undefeated since making that. Now don’t hear me and saying that Anthony Beldin is the reason that you’re undefeated. I’m not saying that. But I’m saying he’s a big reason for it because you’ve been able to run the football very very well since week three. 3.3 yards before contact. Ninth best in the NFL for the first nine weeks of the season. It was under one yard. Now it’s up over three and it’s top 10. And I’m just so impressed with what I’m seeing. Of course, anybody can put one good rep out on film, and this is a great rep from the game against Chicago, right? You see him one-on-one with a defensive tackle. He’s strong. He’s physical. He opens up holes for Josh Jacobs. He stays on blocks. He wins blocks. That is not what you were getting in the first 12 weeks of the season with him on the bench. Okay. So, I know it’s not solely because of Anthony Belt, but he has really been a steal for Green. He has not been what you expected. And when you look at this offensive turnaround over the last couple of weeks, partly you got to look at the offensive line and you got to look at Anthony Bel. Okay, I mean think back to last season. That was your bread and butter. Now, part of that was because a guy like Jordan Love was dealing with injuries, but still, you were able to run the football at an unbelievable clip. 146.8 yards a game rushing in 2024. 4.7 yards a play. You had 70 rushes all season long of 10 or more yards, 23 touchdowns. Your rushing yards over expected for the season was almost plus 400. And then you go to this year, 30 yards a game, less almost a full yard per carry, less trending to have less 10 yard or more rushes, trending to have less touchdowns, your rushing yards over expected in the negative, but we’ve seen a little bit of a turnover of that over the last three weeks, right? This is going to be big down the stretch. Can you continue to run the football? Can that be something that you can do consistently? because it’s important to be balanced offensively, obviously, especially when you play really good defenses, and you’re going to play some good defenses down the stretch, but also look at where these games are being played. Think about the elements on the road, Mile High Stadium in Denver, on the road in Chicago, at home against Baltimore. But I’ll tell you this, on December 27th, Lambeau Field is not going to be warm and toasty and then you end up playing at a dome in week 18, but you’re going to be playing sub 30°. I can almost guarantee it in every single one of these games. When you’re in those temperatures, being able to run the football is key. It’s crucial. I mean, think about last year’s Super Bowl win. Philadelphia Eagles second in rushing in the NFL in 2024. They average almost 200 yards a game on the ground. Now, I’m not saying that’s what you need out of Josh Jacobs because I’m so happy with what you’ve gotten from Josh Jacobs. But I will say this, you need to put a little bit more emphasis in running the football. And I think with this new offensive line, you’re going to because like I said, I’ve still got faith in Josh Jacobs. I always did this season. But the thing was beginning of the year I didn’t have faith in the offensive line. And now with Anthony Develton, I do. That’s changed. It’s flipped. It’s switched. Just what an absolute steal he’s been. So thankful for what he’s meant to this offensive line and to this offense as a whole. What’s your trust level in the Packers offensive line?
