  1. This basically tells us what the market was for Binnington. I imagine Edmonton was likely the suitor willing to give the most, and this isn’t exactly a massive return.

It’s not a surprising return at all, but it’s not the sort of return where you feel like you have to make the trade.

Probably pours some cold water on the idea of moving him. Now the attention should shift to just shifting playing time. Can’t be a 50/50 split anymore. Hofer is your starter, Binnington is the backup.

EDIT: I have to admit, I sort of merged Matt Murray and Tristan Jarry into one person. I was thinking Jarry too had an early career Stanley Cup run on his resume, but that was Murray, who Jarry supplanted in Pittsburgh.

Binnington may still have some additional value for his postseason heroics that have popped up every few years.

  2. There goes our date to the prom. If that’s what they got for Jarry imagine what we could’ve received for Binner.

  3. The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded spoiled milk to the Edmonton Oilers for rotten eggs.

“We’re hoping this milk and these eggs will be fresh again in a different fridge.”
