Watch the full video to find out how it all plays out. [Music] [Music] average regular season game. These teams are fierce rivals. Oh, yes they are. NBA. I love playing in these type of games. I mean, the fans are extra loud. The players are fired up. This will be fun. And now the Los Angeles starters. LeBron James out there with DeAndre Aiden. Then it’s Austin Reeves. Then it’s Ru Aimura. And it’s Donichen at point guard. Green against Reeves. Williams. A screen on Reeves. Here’s Green and it’s hammered home by Green. The defense gets physical with Green inside so he uses his agility to get around him. Reeves against Green. James outside. James a screen on Brooks and Donic launches from deep. An absolute bomb from three-point range. I like when Donic goes right up with it giving the defense no time to react. And so it’s Phoenix with it. Booker. The pass to Brooks. Back to Booker. Pass to Green. Good chance here for Booker. And that one’s good. And Green with the assist. That’s the kind of shot this offensive scheme is meant to produce. Now Aiden Williams defending the three. James can’t get his first shot of the game to fall. And the shooter had very little space on that attempt. I’m sure they’ll think twice about shooting against him next time. And out of bounds, the Lakers will take it. Those are the turnovers that have coaches pulling their hair out. Why do you think I’m bald? And just around a minute and a half into this first quarter now. Donic shoots over Booker. Donic. No good. That’s a decent look for him. He just couldn’t convert. Outside Booker pass to Green and it’s hammered home by Green. That is a tough contest worthy move. Green just putting on a show right there. Los Angeles has gone one of two from three-point land so far. Well, the last few years, Richard, the Suns have had some all-time greats. But this is Devin Booker’s team. No doubt. Drafted in 2015. Book’s been here his entire career. His first few seasons the team was, let’s just say they were rebuilding. But Devin stayed loyal and enjoyed some stellar seasons since then. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight. at the line for one. The free throw is off from Aiden. A double double machine who can also block shots. You won’t find many centers with Aiden’s size and talent. Done. And the pass to Green. Pure from three-point range. Green’s got seven. Don’t want to let him get into a rhythm from out there. And so JJ Reic calls for the timeout. He wants to give him a breather and talk things over. Adjustments are a part of every game and every quarter of a game. I think coach sees something here. Yeah, this is a good opportunity to get your group together and make sure everyone is on the same page. [Applause] Well, if you’re just tuning in, we’ve played about 2 and 1/2 minutes here in the first Aton. A screen on Booker Donic and that one’s on target from the wing. He’s got five and there’s Luca. One of the most entertaining players in the league. All right, let’s check in with Ally Leforce. I caught up with the head coach for the Suns. He spoke about LeBron James’ ability to completely control the game. They want to set the pace for themselves and make LeBron and his guys play catch-up. Coach said, “We have to play our brand of basketball and not worried about who’s on the other side. Play our game, set the pace, and we should be all right.” Back to you, VA and Ally. Thanks. The Suns leading outside Green and he drives in, throws it down and the official calls a foul. It may be a three-point play. It’s going to be on DeAndre Atonoul and a moment to check out the scoring breakdown for the Suns. The story so far has been their mid-range shooting. The analytics might not like it, but elite offense is still knocking down from that area. And and another thing, they found the open man. Really playing unselfish basketball, moving the ball around there on the perimeter. Oh, and the jam by Aton. He’s a nimble guy for someone with that size. Eightton can get off of his feet quick for a lob. The Suns have gotten five of seven shots to fall. Brooks outside. Jacks up a three on target from range. Pick works well there, but the defense left a lot to be desired. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Lakers trail by five. Outside Reeves. Aimura. The pass to James. Donic outside. Clock at six. Fires for three. Sinks the tray. Donic has got eight. And look at Luca now getting aggressive at the arc. He was eager to answer that last three. Booker the pass to Green. Back to Booker. And Booker with the jam. I tell you, a little extra pressure on D when you’re up against a point guard who can elevate, it doesn’t make it easy, does it? Yeah. Hard to strategize for a guy who can make a pass or a play like this right in your face. Here’s James after the basket by Phoenix on the other end. Reeves. The pass to Aiden. Donic up top. Lets it fly. Kept alive. Out to James. And Los Angeles. Another three. When you’re guarding LeBron, you have to give him something. So, the King, well, he’ll take a three-point basket outside Green. Pass to Williams. And here’s Brooks now. Done. Brooks with it over Aimura. And it’s Brooks missing. Oh, there’s the alley and Eaton with the stuff. Such a wizard with the ball. James always finds the open man. And it’s Green with the ball for the Suns. They trail by one. And how about LeBron? Even if he’s no longer the clearcut best player in the league, he can still take over a game, RJ. Oh, make no mistake. He is still the best when he needs to be. Absolutely has a switch that gets flipped when he needs it. is not on for 48 minutes, but he can definitely turn it on for a few. Aimura finds Aiden. Pass to Donic. Oh, they get a hand on it. And the Suns pushing it up now. And he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. First personal foul. Such a tenacious competitor. When Brooks looks to score inside, he is so skilled at finding ways to draw contact. and he makes a first. Gillespie’s checked in for Phoenix. Marcus Smarts checked in for Los Angeles and Brooks drops them both. That’s what he does. Rock solid at the line. Los Angeles has gone three for five from deep so far in this matchup. To the paint and with the stuff, trading the lead back and forth. Neither side is willing to back down. I’ve been on the edge of my seat courtside. Man, this has been a barn burner for Phoenix. They’ve got seven of 11 shots to find the mark. Brooks outside three-pointer. He buries it from three. Brooks has got eight points. You got to at least honor Brooks three-point shot if you’re the defense. I mean, he is more than capable of connecting. Pass to Aiden and stolen by Williams. Here’s Green. Hey, in six attempts, he’s made five. Talk about efficiency. Look, I don’t care if Green is shooting from outside or in the paint close. This man finds a way. [Applause] Lakers trail by four. Get smart on the wing. on the wing. Brooks Aimura covering. Here’s Gillespie. [Applause] Pass to Dun outside for Green. This one for three. And again, it’s Phoenix from deep. And hey, look, Green can make threes, especially from a shorter corner area. For Los Angeles, they’ve got eight out of 12 shots to fall. And here’s James defended by Dunn. James passes to Smart. AI Merl from long range. Rebounded by Green. Man, that’s his shot. Maybe he was too wide open. Pass to Williams. Back to Green. Williams. A screen on James. And Williams punches it home. Nice one-handed jam. Simple ineffective. Ba. Hey, with the lead. I’m surprised he didn’t come up with something a little more creative. And we’ve got a timeout called by JJ Reic. He’ll take the opportunity to regroup. Some changes for Los Angeles. Hayes is checked in for DeAndre Aton. James comes in for Achimura and Vincent is subbed in for Reeves. Now here’s Smart. Still without a bucket. James outside knocks down the long J. Love to see that kind of activity. He just makes things happen. Two minutes remaining in the first on the wing. Green. He’s covered by Vincent. Fast break. Here come the Lakers and finished off by Hayes. He’s a living highlight reel. Seriously, that could end up being one of the best dunks of the year. The Suns lead by four. Gillespie passes to Richards. Here’s Gillespie. Outside Green. [Applause] Shot clock at six. On the take. And yes, it’s good. He’s seven for eight now. Green has been locked in. Really powering this offense. Lakers trail by six. James deciding where to go with it from 12 ft. And there’s another one for the Lakers. I know it’s early, but you have to wonder if these offenses can keep this up. There will be some let down at some point, but these teams, they are built to score. So, here’s Gillespie. Pass to Green. 56 seconds left to play in the first quarter. Here’s Gillespie. That one doesn’t drop. Vincent with the defensive effort and slam dunk by James. Great job on the back end of the play. Yep. Finished with both hands making sure of it. Phoenix has gone four of six from deep to start this game. And here’s Green from the arc to score that basket. his eighth out of nine shots here today. This is a smart play by Green getting some help with the screen instead of trying to do it all by yourself. James passes to Smart. Back to James with the drive. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. That one on O’Neal. Los Angeles shooting their second and third shots at the line here. James taking two shots. [Applause] First free throw is good. Booker, he’s checked in for Gillespie. Larabi has checked in for the Lakers. Donic comes in for Vincent. [Applause] Both free throws good from James. And Booker’s got the ball here for the Suns. It’s a three-point game. [Applause] Lakers trail by five. They’ve got Devin Booker, Nick Richards out there with Royce O’Neal. And it’s Gillespie in at the point guard position. That’s the Suns five as we get into the second quarter. to the inside. Here’s Hayes and finished off by Hayes. Impressive one-hand slam right there, BA. Man, as long as he’s confident about it, I’m good with it. Maybe use two hands next time, he knows where he is. Here’s Gillespie defended by Smart Booker. No dice from the high post. Los Angeles has got four of seven threes to go so far in this game. Here’s Smart. Smart just strong through the contact. Phoenix has got five of seven threes to drop here tonight. Pass to Richards. And we played through the first minute here in the second. Donic with a block. Defense at its best from Donic. like to see him putting that much effort into his D. In transition, here come the Suns. Here’s Gillespie. Battles through traffic and lays it in. That’s what you call playing big. He just stays committed to the attack mode. Also relying on his skill there. That’s a nice move against Lang. Smart. A screen on Booker. And here’s Donic outside. Donic counted. encouraging to see Donic sink the three. Needs to keep doing this now. And let’s send it over to Alli Leforce. Well guys, the Suns are going for it. Allstar guard Devin Booker said, “Everybody here is on the same page. We’re in win now mode. We want excellence. We know it’s not going to be easy, but when you give up that much, we’re trying to win this year and years to come.” Brian, this front office has been aggressive. They are all in. Ally, thank you. Donic passes to Smart. Back to Donic. Shoots, kicks it out to Smart and no good. Had a chance to take the lead. The Suns have gotten two of five shots to fall this second quarter. Pass to Igodaro to the middle. Shot clock at five. The Suns need to get off a shot and Booker puts up a deep three. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles here in quarter two. We played a little over 2 and 1/2 minutes now. Well, Grant, if you talk about consistent top level scorers, Devin Booker is near the top of that list. Yeah, and going back to the 1718 season, Deon has averaged at least 25 points every year. Book can create his own shot and finish. It’s hard finding guys who can do both. Yeah. And they don’t want to let Devin Booker get easy points in transition. Lakers trail by four now. Here’s Smart. Pass to Hayes. [Applause] Donic with it. Booker defending. Smart passes to Donic. Fires the three. No, he’s now four for eight shooting. That’s how you stay connected to a shooter. Was right in his jersey in transition. Here they come for three. James Igodaro grabs a miss. The Suns lead by four. Booker looking around. Misses. And you know he wants that one back. You got to move past that one. I mean, they’d want him to take that again. Yeah, it’s a great look for him. One little try and manufacture again. Those are the shots you want him to take. And once more this half, they find a way to get great position inside. Phoenix calls timeout. And the Lakers with some changes. Eighton comes in for Larabia and Reeves is subbed in for Smart. And Booker has got the ball here for the Phoenix Suns. Pass to Brooks. from 15 ft away. Jump shot is good. Booker’s got four points in the quarter. Throw out those analytics. When Booker is taking a 15, 20footer, that’s a great look for him and his squad. Lakers trail by four. Donic outside. Aiden a screen on Booker. Booker against Donic. Donic is doubled. Here’s Hayes. Oh, he’s looking comfortable now. Three for three. The Suns have gotten four of their first nine shots to go here in the second. Outside O’Neal pass to Allen. Brooks against James outside. O’Neal. Booker for three. Oh, Booker with the triple. At the arc, Booker is pretty efficient. This man can hurt you from downtown if you’re not careful. Los Angeles has gone one of four from three-point land here in the second. Hayes, the pass to Donic. [Music] Shoots over Booker and it’s Donic missing. The Suns lead by five. O’Neal with it. Hayes picks him up and it’s O’Neal off the drive and Reeves pulls it down. The Lakers have gotten over 50% of their shots to go. Five for nine in the second. Donic outside beyond the ark. The shot that time not on target. Phoenix has gone six of nine from three-point range. Oh, some contact there. No issue for Booker though. We know Book can hit those deep threes, but he’s also effective around the rim. Lakers trail by seven. Here’s Donic. He’s got 11 for three, James. And that makes him three for four. He’s looking good. Nice ball movement there. That’s how you break down the defense. The Suns have gotten six of their 12 attempts to go since the end of the first. Dayton the screen on Brooks. James against Brooks and he’s going for the oop here and stolen by Williams. [Applause] Brooks against Aiden outside Booker. Pass to Allen. Now here’s Brooks. Six to shoot. O’Neal passes to Williams. Back to O’Neal for three. Gets his second attempt to go. Now he’s one for two. Grant. There’s a huge difference between talent on paper versus winning. You’re right, BA. And it comes down to coaching, chemistry, and sacrifice. But I think the biggest thing is effort. All things being equal. The team that plays the hardest is going to win. Here’s Donic offline from the top of the key. This has not been his best quarter. Yeah, he needs to mix things up on the offense. He simply just can’t keep missing shots at this rate because he’s destroying his teammates. Booker, the pass to Williams and Williams punches it home. Continuing to get better at facilitating Booker with a dime. [Applause] Lakers trail by nine. James deciding where to go with it. Up and over Brooks. Oo, a little luck that time as it drops. James has got 12 points. And you can expect him to make it when the D is trash like that. Phoenix calls timeout. That’s right. Time to make some noise for you. Phoenix making some changes. Dun comes in for O’Neal and Green is subbed in for Devin Booker. [Applause] Williams passes to Brooks. Don outside. Williams a screen on James down low and Williams punches it home. His playmaking is something to watch. Threading that pass right in there. Lakers trail by nine. Two minutes remaining now. Aimura hasn’t gotten one to fall yet. Inside. [Applause] This is why you can’t let get established positioning down low or else you just got a foul. First team foul. And this is his second and third free throws tonight. DeAndre taking two shots. [Applause] That one misses. And he sinks the second. Here’s Green. 19 points in the game. Done. Outside. Back to Green to the middle. Here’s Brooks and he throws it down. What a terrific lead pass. Yeah, just showcasing his athleticism. When Brooks gets open space around the rim, he looks to throw it down with authority. [Applause] There’s a minute 34 left in the first half of this one. Pass to Aiden. And here’s Smart outside. Reeves. [Applause] Yep. It finally drops after rolling around the rim. Tremendous vision passing out of the shot. That’s great decision making. [Applause] And it’s Green with the ball for the Phoenix Suns. Outside, Williams down low. James with a steal. James a screen on Brooks. Aimura. The pass to Aiden. This guy is so tough to cover all over the floor. Aiden can score in so many different areas. He’s shooting free throws number four and five here for the Lakers. That’s good from Aton. And the Suns making a change here. Richards has checked in. [Applause] He’s perfect from the line this time. Phoenix leading by six. Don outside. [Applause] Back to Green. Takes the three. Green money from deep. Yeah. He’s in his bag from beyond the arc right now. You see his confidence and of course it helps space the floor which gives this offense more room to operate. Reeves finds Smart. James outside. Six on the shot clock. Eightton passes to James. Oh, Brooks with the steal. He’s all alone. Throw it down on the breakaway jam. A rugged defender and terror in transition. Brooks is more than happy to do it all himself. Connects from downtown. Three-point field goal. 8 seconds left in the second. outside. Green misses the three. Thanks for being with us. Second half of this game still to play. Nice game. Great performance by Jaylen Green. Slicing up the defense, living in the lane. Terrific first half for him. And when you rip through the D like he did in that first half, you got to stay aggressive. Keep getting to the rim. On the court for the Lakers, they’ve got Luca Donuch. LeBron James out there with Ruy Mura. Then it’s Austin Reeves and it’s Aiden in at the pivot spot manning the middle and this is his first trip to the line tonight. LeBron James one shot James no good on the free throw. And when you think of LeBron his competitive spirit is to me the first thing that comes to mind. All this guy wants to do is win all the time. Honestly, I don’t know how he pulled that off. You know, Booker gets a lot of praise for his scoring, but how about his skill as a passer, Richard? Oh, he’s a good decision maker, BA. He’s able to read defenses and dissect them with his passing. He’s shown he can be a traditional quote unquote point guard. That free throw good from Booker. This is who you want at the line. And Booker gets himself there a lot. throws it up high and Aon with the stuff. The assist, the pass, the catch, the slam. What a clean play, man. Absolutely jaw-dropping. Phoenix leading by seven. Don outside. Pass to Green. Williams. A screen on Reeves. Green for three. sinks it from distance. Green’s got 25 points in the game. For Jaylen Green to be an allstar level guy, he’s got to knock down those threes. Here’s Aiden. He’s off on that one. Some solid defense from Williams to the inside. Done. Shot is good. And now a 12-point Phoenix lead. as he gets more comfortable in unlocking his potential, we’ll see Green get more comfortable in moving the ball. James passes to Aimura. Back to James. 90 seconds into the second half now. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the points. He’s 0 for one at the line. Missing on his first trip. Two shots and he knocks down the first one. Both free throws good from James. And we’re about a minute and a half in the second half. Here’s Booker. Oh, Booker in close. When you come out to an NBA game, that’s what you want to see Devin Booker putting on a show. Donic with it. He’s got 11 outside Reeves. Aimura against Brooks. The three. James. He drops it from range. James has got 12 points. And his fantastic performance from the last game has carried over to tonight. He’s just riding the wave of momentum right now. Getting to his spots and keeping things simple on the offensive side. Williams. A screen on Aimura. fires from the wing and another basket for Phoenix. Such a reliable mid-range shooter. Brooks doesn’t hesitate when he sees an opportunity to rise up from there. Pass to Aimura. And here’s Reeves outside. Rebounded by Dunn. Dun’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Green in the post guarded by Donic. Now here’s Williams. [Music] to the paint. Here’s Green. Terrific work from Green inside and just totally relentless, only increasing the intensity level. Always plays hard until the final whistle no matter what the situation is. Aimura outside, nails it from beyond the ark. Aimura’s gotten himself on the board with a three there. He can really stroke it from deep. You have to keep better tabs on him. Here’s Brooks. 14 points for him. Williams a screen on Aimura. Brooks with it now. Donic defending for three. Booker. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. He is just so deadly from out there. You expect that to fall. Aimura. The pass to Reeves inside. lets it fly. James finds Reeves. Rebounded by Green. Phoenix leading by 10. Done. The pass to Williams. Now Green. Brooks with it. Back to Dunn. Clock at six. And here’s Green from the arc. James with the rebound. James has got five rebounds tonight. on the wing. Reeves back to James outside. Reeves Aiden in the high post. The Lakers got to get one up. Late clock from deep. Here’s Donic. That’s bucket number five. He’s 5 for 12 now. And when he puts it all together, look at the kind of night Luca can have. Wow. Brooks against Achimura. Williams a screen on Aimura to the middle and Williams punches it home. He put a little flare on that one. Yes, he did. Man, he’s a strong finisher, huh? [Applause] Lakers trail by nine. Pass to Aiden. Here’s James. Takes a three. And Los Angeles. Another three. Just zero hesitation from James. Trusting his shot. [Music] Aimura against Brooks. Down low. Williams finds Green trying to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. Los Angeles has gotten four threes to fall out of five attempts here in the third. Aimura, the pass to James and he lobbs it up and Aiden with the stuff. When Aiden is rolling, he is truly dangerous. He can just continue rolling with force all night long. And so it’s Booker with it. He brings it up for Phoenix. 13 points was their biggest lead of the game. Williams with the screen. Three-pointer. Brooks Donic pulls down the board. Lakers trail by four. Outside Reeves. [Applause] Williams against Aiden. Here’s Aimura. Count that one. Aimura’s got five. Nice find from the big man, Aiden. I like watching this man scan the floor for Phoenix. They’ve gotten seven of their first 11 attempts to go in this half. Pass to Brooks. [Music] And here is Williams. Missed inside. Stolen by Booker. Here’s Brooks. Back to Booker. Second shot opportunity. And he can’t stop the run as that one misses. I thought he had that all sewn up, but somehow the defense just threw him off. And the basket by Achimura. Assertive move. You can tell the game’s heating up a bit. Phoenix has gone just one of five from three-point range here in the third quarter. Outside Booker, Brooks right side to the wing, right side, top of the key and the jumper is good. Booker’s got seven points here in the quarter. Plays hard in every facet of the game. Nothing that Booker can’t do. [Applause] Donic against Green. It’s hauled in by the Suns. on the wing, Brooks. The three is up and that comes off the assist by Green. Green’s got five assists in the game and he’s much more comfortable shooting off a pass. Brooks with a nice shot outside. Reeves. Donic deciding where to go with it. Oh, Luca playing grown man ball inside. No settling for an outside shot there. They went right to the hoop. Phoenix leading by three. Timeout called the Suns. And his defenses have adjusted to Austin Reeves scoring. Richard, he’s countered with the pass. Austin Reeves doesn’t get enough credit for how good his handle is, how much it’s improved. It’s allowed for him to score, get into different places and make these passes. And Los Angeles will go for a different look here. Hayes is checked in for Hayden. James comes in for Achimura. Vincent’s checked in for Reeves. And Smart subbed in for Luca Donic. Gillespie passes to Green. [Music] Let’s go with a three. It’s Hayes with the rebound. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Nick Richards. foul. That’s his first foul. Now Los Angeles with it. They’re on a 17-7 run. Smart outside. Pass to James and slam dunk by James. I just love the aggressive finish. Yeah, I’m thinking he’s sending a strong message with that jam. A minute 39 left in the third quarter of the game. And here is Green. 27 points for him. That three is off the mark. He just keeps firing from distance. I know he’s trying to heat up, but at what cost? Smart passes to Jay. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Okay. Man, neither team has been able to assert its dominance over the other. Yeah, the struggle is real tonight. Seven lead changes and still in the third quarter. [Applause] Here’s Gillespie defended by Smart. Gillespie passes to Green. Richards with a screen. A clear look for Green. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Got a good look there, but just not able to hit from the mid-range. Pass to Vincent and there’s the lob. Oh, they pick off the pass. Three on three. Here’s Gillespie. Hits the rim on the way in and the puck is good and the Suns lead by one. Los Angeles has gotten four threes to fall out of five attempts here in the third. Benson outside [Applause] gets the bucket and the foul. It’s going to go on Jaylen Green. Yeah, these teams are playing with incredible energy. Yeah, the second half in stark contrast with the first. Coach must have gotten on them a little bit at halftime. And he’s got his first opportunity at the line here tonight. [Applause] [Applause] Here’s Green. 17 seconds left in the third. [Applause] [Applause] From the Ark. Knocks down the triple. Green’s got eight points in the quarter and it’s amazing. Neither team has been able to hold the lead for any length of time. Yeah. Platter. That is a beautiful dish. And two teammates on the same page. Woo. And with three quarters behind us, we’ll start the fourth in what is still anybody’s ball game. Booker is the two with Allen playing small forward. Nick Richards out there with Royce O’Neal. And it’s Gillespie in at the one. That’s who’s out there for Phoenix. Here’s Booker. Here’s Richards. And there’s the slam dunk to finish it off. And when the game is this close, you have to go all out. He certainly understands his role, huh? When the shot goes up, just crashes the offensive glass. He’s just giving them everything he has. It’s why his teammates appreciate and enjoy playing with him. Pass to O’Neal. Here’s Gillespie defended by Smart. Here we go. Here’s Donic. Now Hayes goes back up and finished off by Hayes. All eyes on Luca. The defense forgot about his teammates. Fourth quarter of basketball. Oh, we’re about a minute into it. Outside Booker and the three-pointer goes. Booker’s got 25 points in the game. That’s a clutch shot by a big time shooter. And where’s the D? Allen against James. Deflected in transition. Here come the Suns. Here’s Gillespie. And it’s good as he snugs it right through the net. And now a six-point Suns lead. Great decision making from Booker realizing one of his guys is open and whips the pass to him. James. Here’s Hayes. The shot no good. Good work defensively by Richards. No question this offense has some firepower and they’re looking very confident at all that they’re doing right now. personal foul. All right, let’s get your take, guys, on the hustle stats for Phoenix. They have found a lot of success in transition, running at every opportunity and getting points before the defense can get set. Well, another thing they’ve been doing right in this one is making the most of turnovers. Lots of points for them tonight off of them. Brooks, he’s checked in for the Suns. The Lakers also with a sub. Reeves has checked in. We’re about 2 minutes into the fourth here. Donic no good. Phoenix leading by eight. Brooks outside. Pass to Gillespie. Just five to shoot. And there’s a 3second violation. [Applause] Lakers trail by eight. Fourth quarter of play. We’re about 2 and 1/2 minutes through it now. And here’s Donic outside. Drains the triple. Donic has got 19 points. And this is just typical of him. always making an impact at crucial moments in the game and his team needs every bit of his production if they want to pull this one out. It is neck and neck here in the final period and this is something Brooks must continue focusing on. When he sets up guys, team chemistry improves and so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Lakers. [Applause] Look at Donic going to work. So tough to handle inside. Instead of risking something on the perimeter, he just works it inside. Reading the defense sits in the open. He does not hesitate to the inside. Tipped fast break. Here come the Lakers. Here’s James and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. It’s going to be on Dylan Brooks. First team foul shooting for Los Angeles. James taking two shots. Shooting two. [Applause] That free throw good from James. [Applause] So makes one of two and the second one misses. Just a tough miss at the line. They’re down two baskets now. I just love that alley slam. Defense disorganized, defense pays. Lakers trail by six. James passes to Hayes down low. It’s tipped. Now here’s Booker. Oh, look at Book with the focus. Absolutely ruthless. He’s not about to start showing mercy now. This is what you expect from him. just coming alive in dominating in effortless fashion here in the court. It’s James. Oh yes, throw it down. Oh, playing from behind. It’s amazing he chose a dunk with that high a difficulty rating. Yeah, no question that was a stellar move with plenty of swagger. Here’s Gillespie guarded by Donic. Brooks against James. Shot clock at six. Brooks. The pass to O’Neal. He shoots. And another basket for Phoenix. Offensively, Brooks can be just relentless. Constantly looking for chances to get his team points. Reeves. The pass to Dodic. Oh, Dodic from way out there. And that bucket from beyond the arc puts them within reach. He’s really been putting that shot to work. And I bet he’s thinking that he could close the gap completely if he can keep those threes coming. Up top, Richards. Gillespie. Passes to O’Neal. Here’s Brooks. Pass to Richards. Here’s O’Neal. It’s Hayes with the rebound. Hayes has got his fifth rebound in this one. Now Reeves. Back to James. Reeves with a screen on Brooks. And there’s James from the ark. And Los Angeles. Another three. Pick works well there, but the defense left a lot to be desired. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Timeout called Suns. [Applause] Phoenix making some changes. Mark Williams, he’s checked in for Richards. Dunn comes in for O’Neal and Green is subbed in for Gillespie. Let’s go now to the sideline and catch up with Alli Leforce. Guys, over that last break, I listened to the Suns coach address his team. He pleaded with his guys to keep their emotions in check, saying, “You’re battling right now. Continue to play smart. Don’t try to be a hero out there. Play for one another, guys. Let’s see what happens. Ally, thank you. Three-pointer Brooks and Reeves pulls it down. The Lakers trail pass to Donic. [Applause] Brooks against Reeves. Over Brooks. Out to James to take the lead. And the Lakers hit again from deep. This is what it’s been since halftime. Remarkable results from downtown. In the modern NBA, you have to hit threes to win games. And they’ve made that adjustment since the break. Brooks outside once again off the mark by Phoenix. That is not a guy you want to allow open looks for rain. Lucky for the defense, he just couldn’t get it to go. And it’s Hachimura missing. Phoenix has gone one for three in the fourth quarter from range. Brooks against Hachimura. Dan Williams punches it home. This is the very definition of a back and forth contest. Yes. Neither side taking his foot off the gas. I’m expecting a spectacular finish. Reeves. The pass to Aiden. Back to Reeves. and he lobbs it up to the rim. Transition basketball, the most reliable way to generate easy looks. Yeah, when you hustle on the break like he does, good things tend to happen. And the Lakers have possession. They trail by three. Brooks against Hachimura. Outside Reeves, pass to James. No good on the three. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. And down it goes. Two points. Booker’s got 29. There is no shot too big for Booker. He lives for these moments. [Applause] Donic against Booker. Donic. Good. This has been the story of the game. A battle fought on offense. Yeah, but I think it’s going to come down to who can get the stops down the stroke because that’s who’s going to come away with this one on the wing. Brooks Hachimura covering Brooks against Hachimura. Done outside from deep. Counted from distance. When he gets a quality look like this at the perimeter, he can almost be automatic. A minute and a half left in the game. Here’s Donic. Luca, get off me. Oh my. Tight defense, but Donic just muscles it in. [Applause] And so here’s Phoenix. Here’s Booker. 13 points was their biggest lead of the game. Good D by Donic. And here’s Donic. He’ll bring it up for the Lakers. Four-point game. Hits the three-pointer. Donic has got 31 points. IC ice. He has absolute ice in his veins. This guy, he lives for these moments. Outstanding work to send him away. They sniff that one out. Here’s James. LeBron fires one down. You talk about stepping up in a big way. What a huge play coming through when it matters most. Timeout called, son. [Applause] Here’s [Applause] Booker. Drives to the hoop. Money. Okay. When you absolutely positively need a bucket, Booker’s your guy. And so JJ Reick calls for the timeout. And coach didn’t want to take any chances in this situation, which is why he called the to. There’s 48 seconds left in the game. From deep. Here’s Donic. And it’s Petish with a rebound. Now Brooks. Here’s Booker. Done. The pass to Booker. Second chance effort. Count it. The top scorers in the league, guys like Booker, they get buckets when it’s hard. And we’ve got a timeout called by JJ Reick. Critical moment here. He’s not taking any chances. Going for your fighters. Wow. [Music] [Music] [Applause] Booker against Donic. [Applause] He sinks it and that one brings him within one. Clutch play by Donic. He’s been doing this since he was a kid. And they commit an intentional foul. We’ll see another one of those. So they get into the penalty. Yeah, just a must foul situation to stop the clock. And now we’ve got an intentional foul. [Applause] First free throw is good and that’ll put him up two and he’s unable to get the second one. Now Los Angeles with it. And this is so critical. They now have to score every trip up the floor. pretty much they have to be perfect the rest of the way. That puts tremendous pressure on your offense. [Applause] He gets the first and that narrows the gap to one. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. See, it’s easy to see why his teammates trust him. He’s a leader on this team and loves coming up huge in the clutch. Timeout called Suns. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] 8 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. Green for three. Oh, bangs home the three. So, it’s the Suns taking the W in a close one. That was an incredible night of hoops. A tremendous finish. They waited until the very last moment to see
