Edwin Diaz Los Angeles Dodgers Introductory News Conference
I’m really nervous. So I will be. I will pretty. I will
be pretty sure I wanna short. I wanna first, thank the
ownership, Andrew random to welcome here. You know, will be a new
experience for me and my family. You know, do I want to say thank you to
them as organization for what they did for me last year’s really, really happy. You
know, what, what I did there now, we are not your family. We are
in the daughters. You know, I came here to win. In that’s my
gold you know, try to win Another World Series with this
great team. So I’m really happy to be here
and let’s go diets. During this process. You talk to your brother. And if
so, What they feel like with him
with his experience here? Yeah, I did talk to a less is a
li ruhui when the conversation was getting
more close to sign with the Dodgers. He told me that
they are really, really good
organization. They three every player like, they are all really good players and that was something I looking
for, you know, and he told me writing about the
lawyers and make it easy for me. I’ve been given a lot of family,
fun stuff. Brandon and Andrea, when did
this start to feel like a realistic possibility for you
guys? It wasn’t something that kind of all winter. You were
hoping would happen or did come together. You know when you guys
were in Orlando to put it this sort of timeline look like for
me, right? Yeah, I mean we obviously
checked in from the get-go and then over the last you know, week or so started to talk started to intensify and
pick up some some steam. So you know, the
opportunity to add somebody of this. Caliber to what’s already? A
really talented Bullpen was something that we weren’t
sure was going to be able to actually come to fruition but
really fired up that it did. Yeah, I mean, you know,
obviously adding an elite closure like Edwin is going to make any Bullpen
better. Now, it allows, you
know, Doc and our coaching staff to
kind of put guys in two spots leading up to that,
knowing that it doesn’t really matter who’s in the ninth that
we’re going to like the matchup. And also, you know, layering on,
he’s done this on the biggest stage in the
playoffs, like having that
confidence as well, as something we were looking for, and really, Up and we never want to kill you. Freddie Freeman. Gustavus Edo.
Length are imaginative. It would’ve been a closer for
several years. Now, how have you grown in that role? How do
you see the responsibility of me, that ninth inning guy? You
know, being denied is a big responsibility because the world is in your hand. The
last three out again, and I think they are the toughest
three hours in the game and personal. I take it nice and
easy, you know, I’m a naturalist guy, always go butter body pitch by pitch. I
don’t think much to complete the inning. You know, we got a lot of
thinking, Happen in one inning. So personal, I like to take it
easy, my peaches, you know, at the end of the day, if I get my job done, they think
we’d be in a good position if I don’t get my job done, you know, we are in trouble. So every time when I had the
chance to pitch, I always think I will win. That’s how I take
it. If I don’t have a good result that night, I flush a
right away and the next day and come ready to go again. You
know, that’s how I think I’ve been
able to perform how I perform because Everything, whatever happened
amount that day, I float your even if it’s good, if it’s bad,
I just flush it right away and come the next day. Ready to go
again, when you were a 39 for most of
your career, you’re going to three that numbers are tied,
here are three nines retired for Roy Campanella. What would
into should be number three? I think choose number three was
easy, you know, I talked to my wife, you know, we got three
kids. So does the reason I pick number three because of My Three
Sons. So you know I was hoping The number 39 but after I check
the number was retired so they sent me the list of numbers. I
think that was the most obviously for me, I got
three songs so I picked them with. Number three, you still going to use the Timmy
trumpet for your entrance music and how excited you to
picture for these fans here at Dodger, Stadium as a Dodger. You
know, it would be fun, would be fun, you know, I think
that music we get into the funds right away,
you know, that’s a nice walk or something. So I can’t wait to first game of the season. Coming. Then I would to meet
wrong person and get the W for the Dodgers. See, see a lot of film and rub it onto the female to welcome back. This is a very talented open
already. How does Edwin’s presence impact? The rest of the
guys make them better. Yeah. I mean if obviously adding Talent on
Talent is always exciting to do the
biggest thing, one of the bigger things with Edwin is
just the positivity, everything we’ve heard is like this guy’s
just an incredible human being, but also it’s going to work his
tail off. You know, Mentor younger guys,
set good habits. So I think just on top of the player he is the
person fits into the clubhouse culture and it’s going to make
everybody else around him better. Besides, what do you know about the
clubhouse culture here? I’m sure you must know, obviously
Dodger players are currently on the roster, besides, you know,
like yourself now. Yeah, I heard great thing about
this is this coal, how you know, like, I like, I told you early
on my brother play here. So, he told me great thing about that,
though, your Clubhouse, every day, three every single player
like the same, and that’s something really nice. You know,
they, I know they have a lot of great players future Hall of
Famer here and heard a light. They they
treat the young guys like they are the same guys that something something good because I think
hot. That’s how I will include hallways. Andrew Brandon, you really haven’t had a
dedicated. Ninth inning guy since Kenley. Is this a philosophy change
about the open structure or was it just the opportunity to
get into leap close? Yeah. I think it’s more the opportunity to to get sugar
and add them to our mix. I mean for us it’s just we have a high
bar to name. Someone the closer you have to be one of the best
you have to be. Elite and dominant at what you
do sugar is that and I think just
watching him compete over the years seeing the selflessness in the
postseason or in the last weekend of last year, I’ll come
in in the fourth inning, fifth, any whenever the game is
potentially on the line and it fits in
really well with our culture and the selflessness of a lot of
our Superstar player. So so many boxes were checked in
our mind but again, just a very high bar, To say this person is are closer
and sugar checks. All those boxes.
New Los Angeles Dodger Edwin Diaz thanks the Mets for what they did for him in his seven years in New York, explains why he chose the Dodgers, and decides if he will continue using Narco as his entrance music.

I hope he regresses this year . Blows a lot of saves
Coward
Karma will get him.
2019 Diaz here we come !!
TRAIDOR, quieres ganarla fácil
As much as I am PISSED he left- he was tired of LOSING year in and year out. Hard to blame him.
Mets did not want him, Alonso or Nimmo. David Stern wants to operate as a small market. Don’t be surprised if they trade Lindor for peanuts. This Mets organization is in deep trouble.
He is a big ask o
💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
As a Mets fan and Puerto Rican… desapointed.. thats a kevin duran move.
Can’t blame him at some point any player wants to win it’s just a thing no matter what sport your in
Why the Frick is a DODGERS introduction press conference on SNY a New York Mets network that covers NEW YORK SPORTS… FK Edwin Diaz he pulled a b!tch move….this was WEAK asf KEVIN DURANT of the @MLB….
Good luck in LA Edwin
The Mets really screwed this one up. They should have shown him that they really wanted him back. This is what happens when you underappreciate your players.
SNY loves the drama! Shame on you, and you’re a disgrace to NY broadcasting!
I hope he closes the games in the world baseball classic
Mets offered him a record contract after he opted out of the previous record contract.
Edwin chose to bring it to LA and with deferrals, basically an even match, and didn't give Sterns a chance at going higher, which the Mets would have.
Diaz wants a ring and he wants it to be easy. Even if he can't perform, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Sasaki, Tanner Scott can bail him out.
No eres boricua ya, lo q quiere es lo facil en la vida roncon…ojala q te empentan tamales por dnd no sale!
Coward…..
He’s trash anyways
Thank you, Diaz. We love you Always, and will miss you Tremendously. ⚾️✨️🎺
Don't blame Edwin one bit for going to the Dodgers. If I was a pro baseball player, I'd even take less money to be on a certified winning team. I'll miss him, but if the Mets can't win next year (likely) then it would be good to see Edwin get a ring.
Screw you chump.
This is a tough site to see him wearing a Dodgers jersey. I'll miss Edwin as a Met. Stearns better have secret service protection after he single-handedly dismantled the team!
