BREAKING: Blue Jays SIGN Tyler Rogers! Mets Pen Options SHRINKING (Mets News)

Just when you thought things could not get worse out of what was a horrendous winter meetings, if you’re a fan of guys like Edwin Diaz or Pete Alonzo. And fast forward a couple days later on the same day that both Edwin Diaz and Petonzo were officially announced by the Baltimore Orioles and the LA Dodgers. We come to find out that Tyler Rogers, the man that the Mets traded, Drew Gilbert, who was at the time one top prospects. Blade Tidwell, who was obviously a high upside pitcher, of course, low floor, but a guy who throws gas and could do well depending on if his role will be more in a bullpen setting than potentially a starter. And Mr. Jose Budo, who while albeit it was not fantastic in 2025, was controllable and was still a solid reliever in his limited stretches. The New York Mets decided to trade away those controllable assets for a veteran submariner, an anomaly in today’s game. the only pitcher in Major League Baseball that pitches the way that he does, especially as efficiently as he does. And how the New York Mets go about this off season after seeing Tyler Rogers being the lone reliever that they acquire the traded line between himself, Gregory Sodto, and Ryan Hley to actually step up in the New York market when the Mets need it most. When Ryan Hley was tipping pitches for a month and a half like the schmuck that he is. When Gregory Sodto could not command the zone after say his first seven to 10 outings. What do we come to find out? Tyler Rogers lands with the Toronto Blue Jays. The team that was this close to winning the World Series on a three-year $37 million contract that can bring it up to north of $48 million in total across four years. Is it an overpay for Tyler Rogers? Yes. But a quote Andrew Freeman going back to his time there with the Tampa Bay Rays in their front office in 2016. If you are rational about trying to land any fridge in this market, you will come at minimum there at third place or I should say maximum because for David Sterns, he is continuing to operate rationally. And you cannot do that when you are going after a player with the robust market. David Sterns just got lapped yet again in real time being behind the eightball after supposedly putting in a reasonable offer according to John Hammond here of the New York Post. We may find out shortly as to what exactly the Mets had to offer. But here’s what lies the problem. The New York Mets have nothing to sell outside of dollars. They have no success. They have little to nothing under David Sterns. So if you were put in the shoes of Tyler Rodgers, wouldn’t you want to be a Toronto Blue Jay over the Mets 10 times out of 10? The only way to justify Tyler Rogers coming back to the New York Mets is for him to be overpaid beyond belief. Meaning that the New York Mets and David Sterns would have had to go uh minimum this contract if not obviously more cuz you cannot approach this free agent market, these top talents, guys that are clearly some of the best available and giving them the same contract offers or similar to what other top contending teams are doing when they have the track record. Yes, they understand the Toronto Blue Jays did not have much playoff success until this past year, but it does not change the fact that recency bias holds true for veteran relievers that are looking to win a championship. Tyler Rogers is entering his age 35 season. He’s not going to be around forever. It is prime time not only for him to maximize his market after a tremendous year with the Giants and the Blue Jays, but most pardon me and the and the Mets. Now it’s going to be with the Blue Jays, but it is especially relevant knowing that this market is shaped up to benefit the teams that actually have recent success. The Mets have nothing to show. That’s why Edwin Diaz, who said he contradicted himself and his opening remarks there at the presser to the Dodgers today saying in their fan base and their media saying, “Oh, it was it wasn’t an easy decision. I was with the Mets for seven years and they said with the Dodgers it was an easy decision.” So which one is it, Edwin? We know it was an easy decision. The Mets are schmucks. They’re putrid. They’re pawn scum. We have nothing to offer you besides hospitality. An owner that has a willingness to spend. But now we have a president that is moving marginally regardless of what the Mets may do. And I know they may have some big splashes in the works in the trademark. And I know they may still sign a Pete Fairbanks, but what I don’t know is what exactly they’re going to do. So until they establish that, I am going to absolutely be fuming. Tyler Rogers has been quite literally, and you guys know this if you’re followers of the platform, one of my favorite players in baseball for years and years on end. This goes well beyond him just being traded to the New York Mets. I’ve heavily admired his game for so many years with the San Francisco Giants. Why? Because of what I just said and why he just got a massive payday. You could say it’s an overpay. It does not matter. When are you not going to overpay for top relievers in the market? Please enlighten to me as to the last time that a team rationally landed a reliever that they didn’t have to overpay on after coming off of a season with just under 80 fing innings and having a subra and being the most elite pitcher in baseball and ground ball percentage and walk percentage and everything that you want. You have to pony up the dough. The Mets are not the Blue Jays. They were not this close to winning a World Series this year. They didn’t even make playoffs. Why is this so hard to comprehend for David Sterns? And yet here we are yet again. He can’t get it through his thick skull that oh my god. What do you mean I need to offer a little bit more than I’m comfortably with. I thought I could land guys at whatever I want. No, David, this is reality. And I understand I’m very hotheaded right now. I understand I’m being very irrational. I completely understand that this is a turnoff to a contingent of Mets fans. I apologize. I’m not necessarily trying to appease the masses here. I’m a genuine Mets fan who covers them for a living and I’m grateful for that. And days like today, I’m not so grateful because I need to vent. I need to get things off my chest. It’s one thing to lose Edwin that which we were all blindsided. It’s another to lose Alonzo, which we were more expecting. It’s now another when Tyler Rogers, who the men have stayed steady in the market with, gave a reasonable offer for still could not land him in the end. The only way to sell Tyler Rogers as to why he should come back to this Mets team was to spend big on him. The Mets did not do enough in that regard. And for Tyler Rogers, again, put yourself in his shoes if you were offered at all similar contracts from worst teams. Why would he want to go to the worst team? Yes, he had a cup of coffee with us. Yes, he understood how the team ran, but he just watched in real time the uncertainty now that plagues David Sterns and this Mets team by losing Alonzo, by losing Diaz. There is literally little to nothing to sell about why he should warrant returning to this club. So, no, I don’t fault Tyler Rogers one bit. I’m still going to be a big fan of his. And I know my guys at Blue Jays today, Jim at Ballcap Sports, my Blue Jay fan content creators, you guys are going to absolutely love him. To expand a bit more as to just how effing amazing Tyler Rogers is and why I’m so upset at the moment. Take a look, read them, and weep. I’ll get to your comments. I’ll get to your donations. I promise we will touch on all of this as we always do. But let’s start with the hard facts. Let’s start with why you’re clicking on this video. As we’re venting, as we’re live acting, we’re breaking down ultimately why the Mets didn’t make this move. Because all do I see is quite literally one of the best relievers in baseball. 95th percentile in pitch run value, 96 in the fastball run value, 72nd in breaking room value. I got to take my final off. I’m sweating bolts. I’m so pissed off right now. I am so pissed off right now, guys. Another day where I was literally either in the heart of working on a video for you guys. And yesterday, right as I finish my video, my final topic was Robert Suarez and the Mets still being involved just to find out as soon as I look at my phone that oh yeah, three were three hours worth of between prep and recording meant nothing cuz Suarez signed with the Braves today. I kid you not, I was literally getting my notes in order. I finished a thumbnail. I finished a template. I just had a couple more graphics to make as we have a big video that’ll be dropping now. It’s a really important video, so nothing’s going to change from it, but I was going to break down the latest as to who the Mets are interested in, as well as targets that they could find themselves going all in on via trade when evaluating the bullpen. We will touch briefly on some of those in today’s show, cuz naturally, we have to break down what is next for this Mets team, but their options are dwindling by the second. So, we’re going to expand on that video. That video will be dropping for you guys early tomorrow. You’re going to want to watch it as I promise you’re going to get breakdowns on players that you are going to be interested in. But whether or not the Mets actually land him or not, your guess is as good as mine. David Sterns has a plan. I’m still enlightened as to still trying to figure out what exactly that plan is. Cuz all I see is 96 percentile and expected RA. All I see is 99 percentile average exit velocity. All I see is 100% walk percentage. All I see is 100th and barrel percentage. All I see is 95th and hard hit percentage. All I see is 9th in ground ball percentage. All the other statistics don’t matter because one, he doesn’t have extension because he’s a submariner. That would be counterintuitive. Two, he doesn’t strike out, guys, because he’s not a strikeout pitcher. And three, he doesn’t throw gas because who needs who needs gas when you’re sitting 84. It’s a rising fast ball. And even the best hitters in the game have absolutely no clue how to read it. Tyler Rogers was the only player on the planet in this year’s market that was a profile, which what he was. What bothers me so bad about all this is not just the fact that the Mets lost out on another top reliever option that could have ate quality innings for them. He’s consistently sat 70 plus innings each of the past number of seasons. He’s a workhorse. He’s everything that you want in a seventh and or eighth inning type lever. But what grinds my gears most above all about this is the fact that you had a man that actually handled New York. You saw in real time in just a couple months sample size with all the turmoil happening in Flushing, Queens, one player stepped up when everyone else didn’t have the trade deadline. Cedric Balls is a schmuck. Ryan Helysey’s a schmuck. Gregory Sodto’s a schmuck after a short sliver of success. Tyler Rogers was the lone anomaly which justified why you traded away the assets that you did. And now looking in hindsight, what a pissed poor job it was by this Mets team. They miss playoffs terribly. They lose out on everyone that we wanted from a fan point of view. And now you mean to tell me that you lose out on someone that at least would have made so much sense for you. You know what you’re getting exactly? And there’s no concern about a transition period, which may very well happen with any player that the Mets land for the bullpen. You want to know why? New York pressure is a real thing. I’m not saying that every player is going to be shaking in their boots when they enter that bullpen for 2026 for the New York Mets. But what I am here to say is that there is value to people who come into New York on a pinch from the trade deadline, a mid-season adjustment, which Rogers has never went through in his career before like this to handle it effortlessly. The fact that this man is no longer part of the organization genuinely bothers me more than Alonzo. And here’s why. I knew Alonzo was leaving. We all saw the writing on the wall. The David Sterns and Steve Cohen made it clear for a year and a half that they were not going to give him a long-term deal. The only reason as to why I was optimistic in the end was because he didn’t have a big market. But even when Allonzo didn’t have a big market, it didn’t matter cuz the Orioles Matt Schwarber’s offer of 5 years 150. He said no. So they said, “Okay, next best options Pete Alonzo. Let’s give him $5 million more to make him happy and let’s get it done.” That’s what happened. So guys, I know I’m all over the place, but I feel like I’m spitting facts right now. I know everything that I’m saying is accurate. And all I have to say is David Sterns, please, for the love of all that is holy. Get your head straight out of your ass because we are dying to see you prove us wrong. I asked everybody on X today through a poll the following. Mets fans, I need to hear from you guys loud and clear. What kind of Mets fan are you? Are you option A, which is a Mets fan that is actually in favor of David Sterns as long as he makes great moves for this roster for 2026, or B, you’re a hater of Sterns, no matter what he does, good, bad, or indifferent, because you’re pissed off, you allow Alonzo to walk. The majority at 80 plus% were in option A. But as every day goes by and as more players that we want come off the board, naturally, there’s going to be more people that fall in the category of option B. And Sterns has himself to blame. He knows the pressurees on him. He knows what he’s doing and I know David is a smart guy, but when it comes to free agency evaluation, he has swung and missed so much more than he’s landed. If you separate Juan Sodto, which is only happening because of Steve Cohen’s dollars, if you separate getting Pete Alonzo back cuz the qualifying offer absolutely threw him back in your lap as we got to the beginning of this year. If you separate those things, David Sterns has nothing to show us. his two plus year years as president when evaluating his free agency moves. They are fickle. They are very few and far in between as to what he has done a good job at. He’s moved by the margins in the past. He cannot do that moving forward. So once more before I get to these donations before I start to react to you guys and before we break down more about this David Sterns, you cannot act rational in a free Asian market like this if you’re actually serious about winning next year. And I’m not saying that you need to unload the dump truck for every top reliever out there. We have seen history repeat itself yearly by spending big on relievers. Doesn’t work out well. But here’s the thing. Tyler Rogers has the track record and he’s proven it in multiple markets now. He has done this for a decade plus in his career. You know exactly what you’re getting him. This is very different than say landing a reliever coming off of a great breakout year but was fickle the years prior. What are the Mets going to do? Sign a guy like Brad Keller went a two-year rate this past year. dominated that we saw. But in doing so, look at his previous track record. Dog water. So, you’re taking a lot of risk by buying in in a walk. You’re a reliever if they say go down a hypothetical route like that instead of a clear certainty. This is what drives me up a wall. You had it right in front of you. Instead of going out and grabbing it, you said, “Oh yeah, we’ll give you a reasonable offer that’ll be relative to what your market is.” As if the New York Mets have something to flex. Said, “Oh, yeah. Why don’t you want to be a New York Met? What do you mean you don’t love the fact that it’s going to take us 5 years to clean up around City Field? What do you mean that we have a fan base that’s so toxic at times that as soon as you strike out three times the game, you’re booed for the next 48 72 hours unless things change? What do you mean that you don’t love the idea of landing back in New York with a Mets team that has only two playoff runs under Steve Cohen? Really, it’s only one because who gives a rats you know what about 2022 and that curb stomping by the Padres’s at City Field. The point stands. The New York Mets have themselves to blame and they need to make up major groundwork and you want to know how you do that by thinking outside the box. What is Stern’s thinking in the trade market that’s going to separate himself from others? What is he doing in the Frraasian market? Because again, I understand it is malpractice for a lot of teams usually to spend big in the Frasier market for relievers. I’m not saying Sterns is inherently wrong for not going as far as the Blue Jays went. But what I’m trying to say is if you actually put in a valiant effort for these relievers, which you appear to have done, you have to know better that you have to go another level up than what you were previously doing. This is common sense. We’ve known this for years. How did the Mets land their first players under Cohen? If it wasn’t trade, it was by overspending. You think Max Scherzer wanted to come here because oh yeah, look at the Mets and their great history success. You think Justin Verlander wanted to come here? Oh yeah, look at the Mets. Back-to-back champs said nobody. Oh yeah, you look at the Mets and every other effing big move that they’ve done over the years. It has been nothing about what they have done, but rather what they try to sell on the future. The future has been bold at this point. And I know David Sturds is entering just year three. For context, Chapyro, who just got extended 5 years leading the charge for the Blue Jays, has been at the helm for a decade for them and took them this long to finally get over the hump and have a competent playoff run. I get it. Rome wasn’t built overnight. But I’m a Mets fan. I’m frustrated. I cover them for a living, so I’m very impatient. I want to see moves and until we see these moves, I’m going to continue to let it rip the way that I am right now. Mets fans, let me know sincerely, a simple yes or a no in the chat. Are you mad that the New York Mets did not bring Tyler Rogers back? Are you mad that David Sterns did not bend a little bit more than he otherwise would have been more comfortable to do for the sake of bringing back the Submariner? That is quite literally one of the best relievers in baseball. Spam in the live chat right now. Hit that like and subscribe button on your win. I greatly appreciate everybody. And yeah, I got Oh my goodness gracious. I’m gutted right now. Literally every guy that I’m getting excited about that could be back with this Mets team or coming to this Mets team is coming off the board. And I understand there’s a lot of players. We broke down extensively 40 players on the platform in our live streams 48 hours ago. So I’m aware the Mets can still land guys to make me happy and put a smile on my face. But until that happens, I ain’t happy. I I’m not happy. How could I be happy? I’m literally looking at this stud muffin now going to be doing a fantastic job dominating pairing with Hoffman and everyone else in that very strong Toronto Blue Jay bullpen for 2026. Let’s see. We have a solid contingent of people that are yes that are very much frustrated. We have a solid contingent of people that are no to people that are not upset. Can you please explain to me what is it about this that doesn’t bother you? Is it the fact that you really think it didn’t make sense to spend as much as you should have spent him? Do you really have the confidence in David Sterns that he’s going to write the ship with this bullpen in ways that we don’t know right now? I genuinely want to know if you are in the contingent of fans that believe that this was the right move that the Mets did not land him in the end, even after a valiant effort. I really want to hear why exactly that is. Spam it in the chat, everybody. Let’s hear it. Tell me what you’re thinking. Literally bought a shirt jersey of him. I loved him so much. I sure would. I was that you that posted in my comments on X of that shirt cuz I feel like there aren’t many people that have the shirt jersey of Tyler Rogers. I feel like there’s a select handful. I would have been one of them honestly. Let’s see. Let’s see. Soft Dosser only had uh to uh pardon me who had to only start um clean uh clean any. No, I mean Tyler Rogers was perfectly fine if he came in in jams at times too. I just don’t care anymore says our guy here with the donation. Thank you so much for that. I appreciate that. Let’s get into some of these comments and then we got more to say here in Metslay. Oh, what what a fantastic effing day to start my Friday evening. You know, there’s nothing that I wanted more than quite literally one of my favorite relievers in all Major League Baseball to walk away from the New York Mets within mere seconds of them landing him. You know, there’s nothing that I enjoy more. Can’t you tell? Cue the effing sarcasm. Uh let’s go up here just for a second, guys. Yoshima, thank you so much for becoming captain member. Love you, brother. Really appreciate you and that. What the f are we doing? We need a signing of significance. I agree. Listen, here’s the thing. I’m not even stubborn. David, I’ll throw you a bone. You don’t even need to sign guys of sign significance, but you got to trade for him. You got to do something here. And I know he’s going to. I’m aware he’s going to, but until he does it, my mind’s running. Your mind’s going to run as a fan because you’re going to come up with all these different conclusions as to, oh my god, the Mets really are in a full rebuild right now. I know a large contingent of you guys are under that belief. And quite frankly, regardless as to whether I think the term is right, if it’s a retool rebuild, it doesn’t change the fact that every fan has a right to feel that way until proven otherwise. Until Sterns goes out this offseason and says, “Hey, this is why you shouldn’t write us off. Hey, this is why you got to calm down. This is just a calm before the storm for us.” Whatever the case may be, we need answers. We need to hear from David. We need a lot of things right now. What I need is this man back on the Mets. I’m so pissed off that he’s not a New York Met right now. I’m so The fact that we couldn’t even get more than half a season with him, man. He was so He’s so good. He’s so good. He’s literally so effing good. Oh my god. It just like he’s such a unique pitcher, too, man. He’s so effing good. Like, there’s not guys out there like him. Same thing with Diaz. Diaz was the best option out there among relievers. Alonzo is was the best home run header out there outside of Schwarber. They’re all gone. What are you going to do? Trey Fra Tatis to make me happy? I doubt it. You got to make moves with the Padres’s and we will be highlighting that and content tomorrow. So, be on the lookout for it. The Padres’s are the team for the New York Mets if they’re going to make any moves of significance happen for the bullpen more than likely. They could consider barking up the tree a little bit of guys like Jojo Romero, etc. from the Cardinals cuz I know they’ve been involved there. But on the front of the Padres’s, the Padres’s have the creme. They have multiple elite relievers and they’re in desperate need of controllable pitching. And we’re going to again expand on that in content tomorrow. That’s what my plan was to cover in a video today. It ain’t happening now because breaking news, Tyler Rogers has to rip my heart out into a million pieces. Not personal with Tyler. Again, I’m going to continue to be a fan of his. It’s honestly inclining me to watch Blue Jays games a little bit more because I am obsess. He’s such a good pitcher. Like I don’t know how else to say it. He’s a really good pitcher. Carlos with the fight. AA just joined Wardy, but curious on this with all the pieces of agency and holes they have. Is it even worth it to trade for Scooble as things are currently constructed? Not at all. And I said that in our video that dropped yesterday that a lot of you guys have seen already. So, thank you so much for the traction there. It’s always appreciated. But I said verbatim in that video that you trade for Terk Scubble every day of the week regardless of the hall as long as you properly allocate around him and build around him. If you trade for Scooble, you’re not trading for Scooble just to halfass the remainder of the offseason. If you do, then David Sterns looks like an even greater idiot than fans are currently comprehending. And two, it just makes no sense because why not just wait for him to hit the free agent market? Now, I know you may say to yourself, well, what’s going to happen in next year’s free agency with the upcoming CBA lack of agreement with the ownership group and the players union? I don’t know. We may have a lockout for an extended period of time. But what I do know is that it is imperative that the New York Mets trade any quality assets this offseason for a rental player. It has to be for great reason because they’re building around in a win now stage. It makes zero sense in the world and I said it yesterday. I’ll say it again verbatim. It makes no sense on the planet to trade for a guy like Trick Scooble to give up your top four, five plus assets in your farm just to move marginally around him because then what’s going to happen? You may make playoffs. You will not win a World Series. And then yes, you can still go all in on trying to bring Scooble back. And I wouldn’t fault the Mets if they actually signed him because that’s where Steve would pony up the dough. I wouldn’t be concerned there. But the point still stands. You’re still risking that when there’s not a certainty. And on top of it all, if you do not win a chip in your first year with trading for Terk Scubble, you could rightfully argue there’s no point in trading for him. or at least you should be building to put yourself in a position where on paper, yeah, this team isn’t as good as the Dodgers, but they have enough pieces to the puzzle to justify why they’re going to have a valiant run and why they may surprise people, why they may very well give the Dodgers a greater run for their money than they did in six games with thanks to Mr. OMG and Lindor and the 2026 um pardon me NLCS. So, that’s where I stand on the scubble front. I love him. I want him, but right now, no, you don’t. You can’t justify trading for him. You can only justify it if you properly allocate the remaining holes that need to be filled for this New York Mets team. Thank you so much Z with the 10A. So demands a trade at Sacramento Ace who says no. Thank you so much for the donation. I appreciate that. I want to believe in Sterns, but I can’t right now. Yoshiba, here’s the thing. Every fan has every right to not believe in David Sterns right now. This is the point of the offseason. That’s why it’s such a blessing and a curse when things go right for you. when you’re the team to make all the signings, you’re feeling electric, you’re feeling great. And listen, what have the Mets done by winning the offseason over the years? Squat, jack, all nothing. So, there’s an argument to be had that even if the Mets don’t quote unquote win the offseason, it doesn’t mean that they had a bad off season. But right now, all we can look at and all we can look at and all we can say is you lost Alonzo, you lost Diaz, you lost Rogers, you traded Nemo. What are we doing here? What’s the plan? What is the master plan for David Sturds? And I know some of you guys are going to say, “Master plan? What do you mean master plan?” The master plan is to sign a couple guys there to fringe MLB contracts with spring training invites and hope that they bounce back after having an injury play 2025 season. I already know the comments. You can’t you can’t surprise me with anything. I interact with thousands of you every single day. I know every single trick you’re going to have up your sleeve. And the problem is and what sucks so much is I can’t even counter you with that right now. I can’t sit here and try to be what I did, what I’ve done in the past in the first half of last year, which was defending Sterns until there was no way around it that I couldn’t justify it anymore. I could for a bit. I couldn’t once we got to the point of everyone and their mother being injured in the rotation and not either a calling up your top prospects or b being aggressive ahead of time in the trade market. And yes, I know guys weren’t available unless it was for a Kane’s ransom, but by God, you still had a window with this core group and you wasted it. That is what drives me up a wall. What drives me off a wall is that the Mets had a rotation that had more questions than answers entering last season and David Sterns looked at that and thought that we could handle it internally and not call up our top prospect in Mlan until after the trade deadline by a solid stretch. Like literally, it was incompetence. It was by sitting on their hands. It was malpractice from when an ownership group to the front office to the president should be more proactive than they otherwise were. I’m going to stand on that. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. That’s what pisses me off most about David Sterns because if he did not move marginally, if he actually didn’t sit on his hands, if he made some drastic moves, even if we were upset about the assets giving up, we would have gotten greater quality players. We would have potentially landed a starter and maybe that would have just been enough to, I don’t know, win an effing series against the Marlins, get into playoffs instead of being curb and losing on the final day, not getting in and then that be that. Edwin Diaz would still be a New York Met right now if we had a competent playoff run. That’s all it need. That’s literally all it took. All it took was a competent playoff run. And I promise you Diaz would have been back. We’re never going to know it now, obviously. But it goes without saying just wanted continued success. What did the Mets give him? Jack all. That’s what we got. He stayed the same. He dominated. But the Mets did nothing to sway him to say, “Oh, why should he return?” outside of giving him a really nice looking contract. It’s more than money, especially for guys like Diaz who already got the record-breaking deal after the 2022 season. And now comes down to not only getting a nice contract, but as soon as he got what he was looking for from all teams, as soon as the Dodgers enter that rain, nothing else mattered. And why would it? If you’re Diaz, you’re taking the Dodgers every single day of the week and twice on on Sundays. It It’s just normal. Like, you can’t fault him. He’s a snake, but you can’t fault him. Mikey, thank you for the donation. Let’s see here. Sterns is so arrogant with these negotiations from my perspective. Why would agents even entertain them? How are trades the answer after how poorly their trade market has been since Cohen got here? The reason why trades are the answer in my opinion is because the Mets have a deeper farm that they’ve ever had under the Con regime. Trades have to be the answer for the New York Mets. Not only for controllable talent, but potentially rental talent like someone like Terrick Scoble because the free agent market, and this is something that you guys don’t want to hear, but it’s clearly a fact after losing out on Rogers and others, is that David Sterns has a very hard line this as to what he’s willing versus not willing to do to spend for guys. He’s more than likely not going to give anyone a long-term contract with potentially the exception of Kyle Tucker. But Cody Bellinger, I honestly think is very much in the cards, but more so in the cards on a five-year contract. I don’t think Sterns is even sniffing six. If he gets six or seven years from a different team, I do not anticipate Cody Bellinger to be a New York Met next year. And you could say that’s justified. My reaction is I want good players here that can handle the New York market. He checks off those boxes and he checks off every effing box under the sun as to being a great defensively valued player. So, I’m not just going on this tangent with Bellinger. I’m just saying in general, David Sterns, why would he evaluate the trade market as a better route? Because the fringe market is very topheavy in what’s provided for most of these positions. And most importantly, what does Sterns want? He wants Ace Caliber starters. He’d prefer them with control. He would also prefer a lot of things, as I would prefer a lot of things, but that hasn’t come to fruition, nor has it happened for Sterns yet. So given this uncertainty, again, every Mets fan is going to continue to feel the way that they feel. I too will continue to find myself in that category. So, oh my god.

  1. Bro the way Stearns does business there is no way I'm trading for Scubal unless he signs an extention like Johan did. He is foolish enough to let him walk after giving up all the prospects for him.

  2. David Sterns has never signed a free agent longer than 3 years…he signed Christian Yealich who was own player… he’s never signed FA another team wants (No Soto doesn’t count) ..clearly doesn’t believe in it … he won’t sign any big FA’s

  3. Soto curse. Lol. Overpaid Soto played to his own stats. He shows no camaraderie or enthusiasm. I wouldn't take a job where my salary was a gazillion times less than mine own salary, and needed to beg for a raise.

  4. Plz explain how 1 off season u spend 800 mil on a player and the next you let main players walk and do shit to replace or just gain talent!?!?!? Make it make sense. I was one who wanted stearns but this is blasphemous

  5. People say you know he is going to do something, ur positive of it, yea im positive he's going to do something fucking stupid, wait for it, mark it down!!! 12/12/25 10:56pm a DUMBASS TRADE WILL HAPPEN

  6. Wardy and other phony met fans on here are acting like babies. There are trades and free agent acquisitions that could still make us a much better club then last year. WARDY AND IDIOT MET FANS JUDGE STERNS AND COHEN ONCE THE OFF SEASON IS OVER NOT BEFORE YOU ALL LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF IMMATURE BABIES

  7. I've been saying we can't trust Stearns one bit. It's not just he's stubborn and arrogant with his moneyball approach, he's a horrible negotiator on top of that. He panicked and made those trade deadline moves this past season and has absolutely nothing to show for it. Cohen, it's now on u for allowing this guy to ruin everything! Stearns inherited the 2024 team that made the NLCS and goes on to ruin it and tear it down. STEARNS DOESNT KNOW HOW TO BUILD A PRO MLB TEAM! I don't believe in Stearns, and now, Cohen is going in that boat with him cause he's sitting by and giving him the keys to wreck everything!

  8. I am going to watch the yankees next season at least they are trying to to put a professional team on the field Stearns will put these kids out there and the mets will be the nationals Miami and pittsburgh all in one I guess they figured the dodgers are buying everyone and are going to win again this makes soto a waste of his talent let's just trade soto and lindor and call it a day Cohen can put his money in his casino and watch this minor league team fumble through the season

  9. Maybe the Mets didn't want Rogers for 3 years…Just maybe. Until I see the plan for 2026, I'll have nothing to say. Tyler, you're reacting to half a story. If you're a Mets fan, than trust in David Stearns and Steve Cohen and wait to comment until you have the full story.

  10. The fact they won't even sign Tyler Rogers tells us you won't see anyone signed by the mets i don't blame Diaz going to the dodgers was the only way he will win a world series we are forever a small market team thats ot going to win anything Stearns turned this franchise into a laughing stock hoprfully people don't support this minor league if its free its for me mindset

  11. David Stearns is a small market bottom feeding GM who has no clue how to be a GM and he’s let so many players go and it’s all on the shoulders Steve Cohen

  12. No worries Wardy. Stearns knows what he is doing. Rogers contract will age horribly. Take a look at Dan Quisenberry at age 35 and Mark Eichhorn age 34 both submarine pitchers. They age horribly their trickery upon batters is finally figured out. Rogers is good in low leverage situations and played for non winning teams Giants and Mets, In high leverage innings Rogers going shit the bed. With contract like Rogers has Atkins Blue jays will soon find out how bad of signing mediocre pitchers contracts age. Glad Mets getting better with fresh lively young arms instead of predictable easy to hit Rogers.
Blue jays have two pitchers in bullpen Littte and Rogers every Canadian holding their breath and stomach turns watching them both pitch.
