1996 Stanley Cup Reunion

See, that first year was unreal. I mean, we all came here, no one knew who we were, and it was amazing. [Applause] [Music] As a group, we did everything together. We we went to restaurants, uh we went to ball games, football games, and and we had a great time. Mike Greie was named the sexiest man in Denver. I still remember that [Music] and maybe this big fatthead beside me, but there there’s this we we’re just we’re just we had better players. But I thought we going to win from a game one. Joe’s going to score. Peter’s going to bash. Patty’s going to stop the puck and everything’s going to be just fine. As we all remember tonight, it’s the culture that our leadership had, right, Peter? Obviously, Joe, they didn’t care like, you know, we wouldn’t play as much, we wouldn’t score as many goals, but they knew that they needed a whole bunch of guys to to bring the cup here. Hey, one more time for your 1996 [Applause]

  1. I remember the first year very fondly!! Voted on the team name. On May 13th 1996 I was at the game with my father box seats when AV’s took the semi finals from Blackhawks in OT. I’ve never felt anything like that celebration! GO AV’s!!

  2. Those beautiful '96 Avs eliminated Vancouver 4-2, Chicago 4-2, the hated Red Wings 4-2 before sweeping the bridesmaid Panthers off their feet 4-0. HOW SWEET IT WAS!!!t👍👌👍👌 And Super Joe won the Conn Smythe, scoring 18 goals & 16 assists including 2 or 3 OT winners. Peter Forsberg delivered a great performance as well — not forgetting the BIG difference-maker, Patrick Roy. Attended one game in each of those 4 P/O series at McNichols Arena — AWESOME!!! Yeah, baby! HUNGRY FOR #4 NOW!!!

  3. Ozolinsh – The original #8 and Kamensky were my favorites from that 96 team. Too bad Foote and Roy couldn't be there too, they're busy coaching now.
