T.J. Watt has SURGERY for collapsed lung, ruled out, Pierre, Calvin Austin injured | Steelers Rewind

What’s going on everybody? Welcome back to Steelers Rewind here on penlive.com. Nick Farbball here with you guys. TJ Watt update. First of all, that is the big thing to give you guys if you’ve read the statement from JJ Watt. Um TJ Watt had surgery to stabilize a partially punctured lung uh collapsed lung yesterday. It was h it happened during dry needling, a normal dry needling uh therapy that he was undergoing in the treatment facility here at the Steelers complex. Um they took him to the hospital. He got a procedure done. He is out of the hospital now. They released him today. Um he is at home comfortably. No timeline for how long he is out for Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin didn’t add any more color behind the dry kneeling, etc., etc. But the big thing outside of the fact that he is okay. He’s out of the hospital. Uh that is the first thing foremost. Football-wise, he is out Monday against the Dolphins. That is not a surprise. But the Steelers will not have TJ Watt. It’s starting to look like they might not have a few other key pieces here. No Andrew Pete today, the backup left tackle. Um, so certainly looking like it’s going to be a Dylan Cook start against the Dolphins. Bradley Chub and those group of edge rushers certainly going to be a test for him. This would be his first career start. So, we’ll see if that continues uh down the line. Um, also on top of that, no James Pierre, no Dererick Harmon today. Uh, those two guys being very uh key figures to note. Um, Pierre is dealing with a calf issue. Um, and Harmon has that knee is injury. We’ll see if they can get a practice in tomorrow. The Steelers do practice tomorrow. We’ll get official status updates tomorrow. But those two, DNP, DNP, not a good start to the week for them despite optimism on both sides of that. Um, still DK Medaf out here. Um, Malik Harrison and Darnell Washington continuing to work their way back. So that’s on the positive side. Keanu Benton looks good. The other thing to note, no Calvin Austin the third outside of the individual periods today. He went down at some point during Indie grabbing his lower leg. We’ll see if it’s an ankle, a calf, something to that effect, but certainly not 100% uh right now. And that’ll be something if the stat when the status report drops today. We’ll see what the exact injury is for Calvin Austin the third, but certainly seemed like he got nicked up today uh in practice. Um so outside of that, we’ll see what happens. The Steelers certainly focused on Devon Han and what he brings to the table, especially with no TJ Watt, potentially no Dererick Harmon. That’s going to be a really big match up to watch. Can the Steelers slow down Han? Uh the the Dolphins have four straight games of 160 or more yards for the first time since Larry Zanka was their running back. So they are a machine right now on the ground, an explosive run play machine. And we’ll see if the can slow that down. Make sure to like, comment, subscribe, turn notification bell for more.
