This time last year, Tristan Jarry was not even viewed as a tradeable goaltender. The conversation was about a contract buyout. One year later, Dubas flips him to Edmonton for Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second round pick.
He let Jarry rebuild his value. He stayed patient. He waited for the moment and took full advantage.
This is not buying low. This is selling high.
And of course there is a draft pick involved. There is always a draft pick involved. Dubas does not just acquire assets, he stockpiles them for the future.
My GM. My king. Long may he continue to cook. 👑

Is he giving himself a medal for giving Jarry the untradeable contract in the first place 😬
I’m still skeptical of moving your best performing goalie on the season for Stuart Skinner, but the more I’ve thought about this trade I’ve gone from “this sucks” to “Kyle Dubas (a veteran NHL GM) probably knows more than I (a literal idiot) do”
Why is Dubas putting a medal on the new mayor of Pittsburgh in this photo?
You’re king signed him to 5 years….
Edit: waaaaaa!
We’re lucky to have him. He’s eager to make trades and manages to win a good share of them. After seeing Kindel work out, I trust him more than ever with those picks he’s stacking up.
We’ll judge in 7 years after the Thunder pulled this shit in the NBA in 2019 when the prospect armada is playing.
Everyone except Matt Dumba and (maybe) Brett Kulak win this trade. *everyone*
2 rentals and 2nd round pick in 3 years for a starting goaltender. Blocks Murashov kinda, unless they waive Skinner
We are the same age. Well actually he is 6 weeks older than I am. I feel like while I’ve underachieved compared to him, I have 6 weeks to close the gap.
Guy has done nothing but cook the last year. Next year should be exciting, and there’s still hope for this year now that we’re finally starting to get our players off IR. Hoping for more wins once Malkin is back.
