People will overreact to this. This isn’t gonna be our only signing, and it’s not bad for one year
Sure!
Hopefully he’ll hit 500 saves with us
I love this. We now have 3 guys who had 20+ saves in 2025.
Said it in the other thread, but there’s no reason for people to be upset with this. Jansen had a great year last year and it gives incredible flexibility to our bullpen with 3 guys capable of closing.
He had a great year last year, even if he has a bit of a regression he should still be effective
I like it. They needed another high leverage arm.
He did really well last year on the Angels. I think he’ll be even better with the bullpen by committee style Hinch has.
This could go really well or it could be a rerun of signing Joe Nathan.
Any 1 year deal for a vet like this is a win.
From a comment I made last week:
> He allowed less overall baserunners, but he gave up more HR’s than usual (1.2 HR/9, career avg is 0.9).
If he can repeat his 2025 season, Jansen is an upgrade to the current bullpen and makes the team better. Harris should continue building bullpen depth though because there’s some downside risk here given his age and peripherals.
Great addition to the bullpen, still think we need one more arm before we can say our bullpen is fixed.
It’s fine for a 1-yr bargain bin deal, though there are some caution flags: age (38), strikeouts went down while homers went up last year, and his 2025 Statcast page has a lot of blue. Hopefully this isn’t Troy Percival 4.0 (Joe Nathan 3.0 (K-Rod 2.0.))
One year contract makes this palatable, but at his age you have to expect each season to be worse than the last. He could regress from 2025 and still be a plus player, but he could also take a major step back and start to suck. His k rate last year was the worst of his career I believe.
Finnegan, Holton and Vest can run firemen duty and let a proven og in Jansen get the saves I like the idea
As a big Jansen fan I’m very surprised. Hinch must have guaranteed him the closer role no matter what.
And rightfully so, his nonsave situation stats are really bad for the past 3 years. He has to close
It’s solid. Better than a lot of the bums they cycled through last year.
Yooooooo yes
A try out deal. Plus, if it’s no good, it’s only a club option for 2027, so we aren’t stuck in it. It’s not bad.

Good signing. Would like to see the price my guess 13 mil
114 Stf+ last year. Still a lot left in the tank

This is useful. We need bullpen help, we got bullpen help. And having an option for another year in case he excels is a good pickup as well.
Decent move. Yeah I don’t see the issues with signing him. I read optic and i immediately was scared the second year was a player option. Exhaled when I read club option.
Solid get
Fantastic deal for a fantastic pitcher. Can’t wait to see him pitch in the old english D.
Seems like the only downside to this is the Tigers are going to need to move someone from the 40-man. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see another move like with the Finnegan signing.
Pay Skubal
He should be nicknamed the new Rollercoaster like Todd Jones was. Lots of moments of wildness. Give up a couple of walks, wild pitches.

We’re running it back baby!!! /s
Yes! I was hoping we’d get him
Kenley did pretty well last year, except against us funny enough (9th inning tigers comeback mayhem anyone?)
Hopefully he has a solid season like last year. Not a bad signing for a one year deal with a club option for a seasoned closer/reliever.
now get me Fairbanks too lol
I approve of this
