Game Highlights: Blues 3, Blackhawks 2

[Music] but only 17 and three when the other team scores first. Scoring first very important for them. Yeah, it seems to give them confidence. They play the way that Jeff Blash wants them to play and I like to see the confidence from the coach for a goalender that didn’t have a good outing in his last meeting against this team. Mazar is going to go to the penalty box. The blue is going to go on a power play. be score. [Music] [Applause] [Music] First of the year for Logan Mayu. The twisted wister for the 22year-old defenseman makes it one- nothing St. Louis. Read this play well. Delayed penalty. So immediately he joins the offense knowing that if it gets a turnover, it’s going to be blown dead. You see him just come off the bench. He comes right down the side. He finds that opening, attacks the dots, and that’s got to feel good for the St. Louis Blues. The young defenseman in that trade with Montreal. This is going to help his confidence in a big way. Burkovsky. Bard to the net. There he goes off the skate of Bro. Boy, that’s that burst from Bard again that we’ve been seeing all year long. It’s really his skating from year two to year three. There’s significant difference. Matt Luff’s first of the year [Music] and the Blues lead two nothing. And then Matt Luff here tonight just allowed to walk right down the middle of the ice. You got three Hawks there, but no one closes on him and just a free shot on Spencer Knight. Watch him just time and space. Just takes it. Doesn’t rush into the offensive zone. reads the play as he crosses the blue line and look how wide open the middle of the ice is here. No back pressure from the top two Hawks players and that’s easy pickings for Matt Luck. That’s that part is that developing story will not be fully developed until he signs a contract in Minnesota. Yeah, one more year after this one for Quinn Hughes. Correct. Here’s Kaiser. Shot score. Wyatt Kaiser on the board. just his second goal of the year. And with four minutes and 10 seconds to go in the opening period in St. Louis, it’s 2-1 Blues. A short-handed, albeit and then this one here from Kaiser. Just a nice job. Little east to west pass, but look how close he’s able to come to that slot area. There’s no St. Louis Blues player out there to meet him. And this is the kind of defense that St. Louis has had in front of their goalenders. I mean, by the time they converge on him, they’ve now become a screen. He lets that shot go and Hoffer can’t even see it. Their first as a blue as well. So, third career goal, 15th career goal, and just a fifth career goal for Wyatt Kaiser. So, unlikely scoring in the opening frame, shot just wide. Another shot deflected. Of right there with the left hand. Gar has been here. Gar Brooks has both years. Um Shawn Payeyton from the Broncos showing up. Um I’ve been really lucky. I you know Cash just touched on the chaser in the booth. Justin Faulk along the ice. Faulk with his seventh goal of the year. Faulk. And he just comes right in short side and says, “Look, I got some room up there.” Yeah, he does. Drags it. Pulls it up. You can see him waiting. He’s just waiting for that small little space between the elbow and the pad of Spencer Knight. Houston active all game as well. And he just finds this little small hole between the arm above the pad of Spencer Knight. Goes down to the right side where all the defense are just reminding him of hey this is what we’ve been doing good. Let’s keep at it. Score Bowovski. Connor Baddard forced the turnover with his aggressive forch check. It’s squirted over to Burkovski who gets his eighth of the year and it’s the Blackhawks who respond off the TV timeout and make it a onegoal game. Head I mean Dzone coverage. He was just talking about it just reminding the guys that they get lost and it’s Caro who gets caught chasing around the net and Elise Barakovski wide open as that’s Broberg’s side. He’s there and Veracroski is not going to miss. A wide open net but that a tough bounce off the back boards as well for Pereo for a quick shot. Save by Shen with the physical play on Bard who appears to injured his right shoulder. The puck came to Bertusi who got a good shot off and Hoer had to make a clean save.

Highlights from a 3-2 Blues home win over the Blackhawks on Dec. 12, 2025 that featured first goals as a Blue for both Logan Mailloux and Matt Luff.

  1. Holy cow, the Blues do know how to play hockey. Hopefully they can keep this energy up and keep that puck flying into the net. Keep Hofer in net.

  2. Glad for the win, but once again, ALL the offense before the 10 minute mark of the second. The latter half of games is still a serious problem for this team. They need to develop a killer instinct instead of letting teams back into the game. That's been one (of several) weaknesses this team hasn't figured out. But, celebrate a good win, boys. Learn from the mistakes and come back better next game (for once).
